- A little hommage to one of the best band leaders and arrangers ever, who has passed away on June, 9th 2015. Thank you, James Last, for all the music you gave to us!
Here is my version of the main theme from the movie "Dr. Zhivago" (composed by Maurice Jarre) in the legendary James Last arrangement from the early 1970th. And yes, he arranged it musch slower than the original version. :)
Played live on BÖHM Emporio 600 organ with Amadeus sound system. Only factory sounds used, plus drums from a factory style. No further accompaniment tracks, no audio or midi playbacks! Played 100% live wtih two hands and two feet! Recorded 06_2015

As high school sweethearts from the 60's, this was our theme song. We were 17 and 18 and reluctantly never married but now we are 74 and 75 and are very best friends and still holds hands while we listen to OUR song

I remembered this music the night I stayed one night at a host family in Spring Field, IL back in 1968. In 1968 this music was very popular. It is a very beautiful music.

When the movie Dr. Zhivago was released, I was 8 years old and they didn't let me go to the cinema, they told me: "boy, you can't see this movie"!? I had to wait a long time to download it from the Internet, but at 15 years of age I already had the original recording of the soundtrack, now, at 65 years of age, it still moves me to hear the beautiful melody😥
After seeing the story that unfolds in this great movie, I realize why they didn't let me see it as a child, how human times change‼

This was my first real song I learned back when I was 17-18 yes old. My brother taught me it. He started w an accordion in his teens n has the gift of can play any instrument by ear.

I remember when I was 5y/o My late mother, playing this song every night before she slept, dedicated to her parents who passed away. Since then till this day, is my favorite song,I’m 66y/o. It’s my turn to dedicated this song to parents already pass away, years ago. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

When this movie came out I took my mom to a drivein theater. It was a hot August night and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it. This song brings back memories of that special night I spent with her. I miss her dearly.

Lara's Theme from Dr. Zhivago was my Mothers most favorite piece of music. There was never a time when she came to visit that she didn't ask me to play this on my Thomas Trianon or My Hammond organ. As much as I always loved to accommodate with my own rendition of this truly spectacular piece of music, I was pale in comparison to the magnificent performance in this video. Thank You so much. For me it melts the movie and my own deepest memories of my youth two lovers blinded by the ecstasy of love raw and magnetic all else thats in their lives has been pushed away just to be together as long as they can before torn away by knowledge if they didnt part till next time it all could be discovered and come to and end! How well I can remember that time as a 17 year old without the knowledge of life and what the years ahead would bring with great intensityb I can still recal with my every sense of smell touch and throbing heart a singke kiss that is locked into my memory till this day over 55 yearsago at that time I knew just how special this experince was and how I clung to it yes it was the power of young love and I was correct to cling on to that moment becsuse it did come to a end and like pulling a great oak tree from my chest leaving a void , a sink hole that I knew yes I knew would never be filled for they say time heals all wounds but I argue that is not true we may love again but never will that emoty room thats still waiting for just one hour to experince that moment and that kiss again ever be satisfied bur we move on in life we must survive but that void will not go away As the years passed i wondered if it coyld die 2 ,5,10 20,yrs then 30,40, and 50n years passed and though the pull it had has been pushed aside for so long that its covered with the dust of concerns and troubles that old age lays upon you burden thats straped upon your back the load of all the troubkes that we have endured but there eieght remains as we have been acclimated to it as hevy but normal but if I should set down along the side of my road wad that nears its end on a steeper and steaper incline and with a moment to be free to hear that song and let my memorry back open up the dust is blown off and the soul is stirred and I remember just how much I hunger to have that brief moment again there are somethings in life that forever belong to its own time and is forever encapseled as it was other powerfull moments will come in the eternity ahead but Its hard to belive this can ever be replaced by another moment thats improved or more beaurifull There is a name for this that I regret is belittled but its caled 'puppy' love. that surly say nothing about its foundation that is not forgotten but many are like me and say nothing to anyone about this place in our heart that will be there always . and its wonderfull for some who marry that lover and grow old and never need to have the pain of its surgical removal , I wonder how those blessed that way feel about that time from its start untill now ? it must not be a haunting thing but a beautiful monument of their life. I am happy for them and know that the bible says a day is soon at hand when our creatir promises to satisfy the desires of every living thing. For he is a God of Love and Justice the latter is yet to be seen .
