  • Settle in with your knitting and a beverage, this is a long one! In this video, I take you on a tour of my yarn stash while I struggle to set some goals and expectations. There’s the usual rambling plus Piper and Maysie make appearances.

I laughed so hard at "area 51". That is brilliant! I will definitely adopt that for my project drawer.

Honestly, having that much yarn would totally overwhelmed me. That could certainly create a lot of anxiety for someone. Bless you.

Yep, enjoyed this immensely. Also makes me feel better about my own stash, projects and WIPS. Love the Pets.

Sounds like my Cloey puppy when she gets mad at me for leaving to go to work. She's great at making yarn barf

Goodness!! I got overwhelmed with too much yarn too and suddenly realised I just couldn't keep buying more. I now go "shopping " in my stash. It's so much fun to choose from my stash and use it. I really enjoy seeing empty space in my shelves 😂

I love shopping my stash now! Isn’t it super satisfying to see those empty spaces get bigger?

@@Thestashdowndiaries yes! So good to get rid of the clutter and then replace it with projects you will wear or use for gifts 🥰

I have just come across your podcast. I owed watching your yarn organisation. I have enough yarn to make about 30 pairs of socks and I have been getting very anxious about it - I am slow at knitting following 4 major brain tumour surgeries. Seeing someone with so much more yarn is relaxing for me, and it is reassuring to hear that you have a stash down programme, rather than just accumulating more and more. I think that your plans are very admirable!

I can relate to being anxious about the yarn stash. The anxiety is getting lower and lower the more space opens up in my yarn containers.

That is quite a stash! A few months ago I added all my stash to my ravelry. It was certainly a project but I like that I can find it all in one place. I find it very overwhelming and am working to shrink it significantly. Did you use a pattern for you Christmas stocking?

Yup, it's called the Celtic Sheep Stocking by Darlene Swaim on Ravelry. She has a ton of really nice stocking patterns.

Good morning, You sound like you are from Canada. Whew you have quite a stash! The amount of yarn you can remember what it is and how you will be knitting it is dizzying! Are you challenged to figure out a plan for prioritizing or do you knit what you are in the mood to do? I'm guessing you are a really fast knitter. I'm envious! Thanks for sharing and your pet friends are adorable! I have 2 border collies to keep me company while I knit. They constantly entertain and the youngest one got a hold of one of my hanks for a sweater that was in a project bag and turned it into an impossibly swirling knitted mess of a string pile. I was able to untangle and wrap into a ball that took me 3 evenings. I couldn't get mad at him though, I need to be more careful so I am!!!! Cheers to you for sharing your deep stash! Carrie from the San Francisco Bay Area. 😘🍵🧶🪡🧵

Hello! Yup, I'm from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. What basically happens is that I knit what I'm in the mood to knit and then inevitable end up with too many WIPs. Then I have to sit down and go through them to prioritize what I want to finish. My last dog was a border collie and he was my heart dog. We had such a strong bond that, even though he's gone, I still feel connected to him. I love border collies...well, herding breeds in general. Piper is part blue heeler. Thanks for taking some time to watch my video!

Awesome stash! I have a lot of dk and fingering hand dyed yarns... lots of Briggs and Little and some aran stuff from Lunenburg, NS. I have enough fingering weight for 65 pairs of socks!
I spun on my spindle while watching!

Unrelated but where did you find that kitty cat bag hanger that you have in the background? Great video btw. 🖤

I’ve had that since I was a teenager. So a looooong time 😆 I think I got it at a store called South of the Border which has long since closed
