Bull Dung Wine - A Special Way to Store Wine by Dai People

The first time I heard the name, I thought the wine was made of bull dung. So I asked Brother Long who is good at making bull dung wine. He told me that the decent bull dung wine uses homemade rice wine which has been stored for over a year before taking it into a jar. The plugger should be made of a salty tree branch and wrapped in brown paper. The jar needs to be sealed with melted bee wax then cover the bottleneck with fresh bull dung to store for at least two year.
My grandpa enjoys drinking wine. To him, wine is the best seasoning of life. I made my first video about corn wine three years ago. How time flies! It’s been three years already.

While you are feeling okay, make a LIST OF IDEAS of things you can do when you are in a time of struggle. With that list, add a few items that make you feel better - tea bags, chocolate bars, pet rock, worry stone, inspirational readings, incense, essential oils, notes, photos - this is ALL about you, what you like, what soothes you. Put it all in a box, decorate it, make it how YOU like it! Learn how to cope with your anxiety and stress. There are many ladies from China on here with just beautiful videos, I even found one male on here too, the music, the pictures .. all soothing. Best Wishes to you ..

I was born China in my 40s. I watched my mom making wine when I was little. It is very similar and watching your videos brings back lots of memory. When Covid 19 virus is over, I got to go home visiting my old mom who currently lives in Jingxi, China.
Honestly didn't expected to hear from Chinese as its memory not regular thing so there is diversity in China too
It reminds me of my mom making the traditional old wine when I was kid.. those memories

In distillation methanol, which is poisonous and if ingested can cause blindness and death, comes off first, before the ethanol. This is why they discard the liquid that comes off first.

Fun fact: distillation is commonly used to separate chemicals in chemistry. We always throw out the first bit that comes out. It is assumed to contain low boiling point impurities.

Ex-farmhand here, and cow dung is very strange in that it's actually really useful. Not just for manure: it has certain properties similar to penicillin and from ancient times was used as a disinfectant, which I'm guessing is why they use it to seal the wine! That being said I wouldn't advise just going and picking up a bull/cow pat out of a field as they can also be carriers of both salmonella and E.Coli. The traditional craftsmen know the risks and know what they're doing.
Also, it really doesn't smell much. All that grass means it's pretty inoffensive. I spent enough time around animal poop that I found these facts really neat.
True about the inoffensive smell. In fact, the smell of fresh buffalo dung automatically gives me a pleasant vibe; it used to be the first thing I smelled when entering my grandparents' village during vacation. Its a happy smell, except maybe during torrential rains when the yard and shed get slushy for days on end (no cement surfaces back in the day :D

@@yonathanferesenbet5241 Intestinal worms can be seen in the dung and won't be picked - as for worms that have come from the environment, very fresh dung won't have them as it takes time for worms and other insects to find them let alone burrow in.
It's nice that there's a translation here. I've been binge watching for quite some time and I'd wish there was translation on some older uploads. Anyways, as always a wonderful watch to new cultures, cuisines, lifestyle and experiences.

How is everything so pretty? The bowls and jars, the scenery, the brewer's place was amazing! The fuzzy faced cows (water buffalo?)...fuzzy whiskery faces...just so pretty. I "bell" on the bovine's neck was way cool too.

Its about perspective
I think that it is such a different reality to what we are used to in the West! Everyone are so much more in touch with nature and the Earth and make things from scratch whereas we just go to a store to get everything we need.
I feel like we are all inherently longing for that kind of lifestyle but at least in North America, it is nearly impossible to do that while still being part of society as we know it!
This is a culture and traditional way of life that has roots thousands of years old. Rural China has not lost respect for and connection to their past. Human beings are happiest when living in harmony with Nature, and we can see that here, with these families. It’s beautiful to see.
