As someone very limited to space and money, I like Prize Figures the most. At least I'm quite happy with their quality. I started with Blind Box Figures and sometimes I still get them, esp. Pokemon Rements are too cute to pass. Though overall I'm not a professional collector, I just love to have figures of my favorite series or characters, so that includes Funko Pop figures. I understand why people are mixed on them, but I just love the variety of movies/tv shows they released and where you hardly get any merch (anymore). Scales are impressive, but too expensive for me. Though some are tempting me....
My favourite is Ichiban Kuji… great quality most of the time although not cheap. Thank you for the great content! I searched YT for a video comparing different lines of Japanese scale and prices (super master, Ichiban, edge, match makers, etc.), especially comparing size but I could not find
There’s a series of prize figures by Taito called “Artist Masterpiece” that have incredible sculpts. There’s a Sakura Miku with a working lantern and an Albedo figure with realistic looking wings. Very good figures for a very cheap price
I have a little bit of all these types of figures, prize, non scale, scale, nendos, funko, surprise box, gotchas, plushies, even amiibos . And out of all of them I’ve owned the ones i dislike the most is figma, and others like them. It’s not even the joins I dislike, but the fact that every one I’ve ever owned has fallen apart ,and broken so easily. It feels like a waste of money.
I always go for the prize figures no matter what. Not only can they get the likeness of the anime character right but are very affordable. So far, I have 35 prize figures. I really want to buy a nendoroid, specifically Shigeo Kageyama from Mob Psycho, but the things that pulls me from buying one is that its expensive and also having a lot of spare parts. I always think to myself, "when am I ever going to change the parts of my nendoroid" and I hate it if I lose tiny parts of it. Not seeing myself buying any Pop Up Parades and Figmas because my major gripe is the box because its see-through and, this is just my opinion, but I don't like boxes that are see-through unlike prize figures. Because they feel empty inside, literally. Hate to admit it but I buy Funko Pops if I cannot find any figure of the characters, especially if its Western like Netflix, Disney, and all that.
Cheapest is best. Got Mamako by Sega for under 30 dollars. Also got a Mako figure from Kill La Kill for close to that price. The only expensive one I'm tempted by is Kasuza from White Album 2, but it's too rich for my blood.
I dont get the hate with Pop Up Parades....some of them are hit or miss but honestly it is rare. I have 16 of them currently and they are all quite decent 😊 And to someone like me, $40-$60 per pop ain't cheap!!! 😂
I don't really have any experience in them other than the odd Gunpla. Not sure if they count as Anime Figures or...Models. I wouldn't consider a model railway to be a toy for example.
What is your favourite type of anime figure?
Scales
Scales for me. I can understand the love for prizes figure though.
If you suck all of the charm and craftsmanship out of a Nendroid, you are left with a Funko Pop.
I used to prefer scale figures, but then the price jumped exponentially. I don't have a scale figure newer than 2009.
Yeah. Tbh I think the price for a lot jumped a lot too. Nothing like it was years ago:(

Thanks for watching.
Ichiban Kuji are usually pretty decent! I just find their prices vary wildly.

I've heard of these. They're quite recent right?
@@The_Anime_Figure_Collector They’re about 2 years old now but they’ve just recently started gaining traction.
@@FroggiefusionI have the Mermaid Miku and Arabian Princess Miku from this line and the quality is really good for the price.
One prize figure line that is nicer is ichibansho. The paints are better and tend to come in better pakaging with more dynamic stances.

I had a little issue with Megumin but tbh overall they've been fine. Sorry to hear you've had problems

Do you mean empty inside after you've taken out the figure?

That's fair. I think I'd rather have one real good one as opposed to a bunch of mediocre ones.
Is have to say that scale figures are best imo
I rmb spending 42 dollar for a very limited acrylic stand since it was Korea limited, but hey it was worth it I guess
