People are talking about the "sexualization" of this pin, but this was never going to be the Disney version. I think making it a bit more "grown up" is 1000% the right move. As far as art goes, the only thing I didn't like was the Mad Hatter. Looks a little Johnny Depp-ish, which was a version I didn't really care for, though I really like him as an actor.
The art looks great, but for home users with families. The sexy woman art could be a deal breaker given all other Alice in wonderland art is often of an innocent young girl, fully clothed and not sexually appealing at all.
I know this going to be hard for some to understand that don't see it this way, but it's not pearl-clutching over the sexuality, some people just think the artwork is trashy looking. Like something you'd find airbrushed on the hood of a car. That's like saying just because you like steak, you should like every kind of steak cooked every way.
Honestly hoping the trailer scares people off. I refuse to pay for a pinball without playing it first, but am interested in this. With only 300 being sold in the US and the earliest I can play it at Expo, my chances are already low.
Honestly I'm bummed. I was super hyped for this reveal and was let down by just about every aspect of the game. The sculpts look great, but everything else was kinda just....underwhelming. I am not trying to hate on this or anything, just my honest reaction. TBL is amazing.
The shots on this game look, boring. One shot is literal just an up and back. Wow! I'm not sure how many shots there are, but it didn't look like many. Plastic ramps are a turn off. Honestly why? Plastic ramps are a PITA over time. Wire forms would've been better in almost every way.
If the callouts aren't final, they should've said so. If they were supposed to be final, then maybe they will be changed after feedback from the pinball community. On the other hand, it doesn't really bother me. Just listen to the callouts of Medieval Madness or Monster Bash: they are just as badly "acted" and those are great games. At least callouts can be changed with an update. Let's wait and see how this game shoots.

We are in the age of "crap on every game that comes out". If this was the best game ever made, the majority would crap on it regardless. The game looks very nice, and the sculpts, and 3d effect of every plastic is the nicest to have ever come out. Here's the elephant in the room everyone is missing though... it took 10 years to make Lebowski! 10 freaking years! So even as beautiful as I find this, I would never order from a company that can not deliver. "Hey let's throw $14k (after tax, title, and import fees) at a "Purdy game" that we will wait on for 10 years... Again! Love to play it, but lessons of the past say no to a purchase. The buyers love it now, but in a year when they still don't have it, it'll be pitchforks, and torches all over again.

If they just figured out a way to use magnets instead of flippers, it could be telekinesis pinball machine. Callouts are lowest priority. The artwork looks like it's supposed to be a "Heavy Metal" version of the story, but the music and callouts say otherwise, like it's trying to be the Tim Burton or Disney version of Alice instead of the American McGee version. This honestly could've been an interesting game to play, but unless they change the code, and fix the callouts or music or both, this feels like a wasted potential.
The art and playfield are amazing. The theme is one of my favorites from reading the book in high school. I pre ordered one with hopes of audio and video changes. I really hope they have some mushroom tripping or caterpillar hookah smoking modes this could be really fun maybe with a video mode too. The audio callouts have to be changed (is that Melvin doing all the voices?). The video didn’t look to great either and some of it looked low res. I hope this game is deep with modes (like going down a rabbit hole would be). American McGee imaging and story modes would be great. I am also hoping there is more mechanical toys to be revealed or if they can change some stuff to make preexisting toys to be more interactive like all of JPop themes were. Maybe jabberwock can grab ball. Maybe a pop up bumper or toy that’s not there now. 0:08 Can’t wait to get mine but please listen to the people and make some changes. And this could be one of the best pins made.
It looked to me like the video was just a teaser. You get a good look at the cabinet and playfield. It looks like a gorgeous game, but out of my price range for what I’d pay for any pin. I guess we will know next week how it shoots. Tho I’m not sure what Lewis Caroll would say about the Alice depictions. 😂
I don't see how anyone can be negative on this. It's beautiful and I feel the sexualization is very tame when compared to comic books and Elvira. Only thing I'm a little disappointed in is that there isn't a crazy giant ramp.
The difference is that the pinup aspect of Elvira was part of the attraction. I’d think most people are familiar with the Disney Alice in Wonderland so this art work kind of comes as a surprise

I don't understand why people are so upset about this. It is pretty close to the original John Popadiuk design from what I can see from the quick cut clips. Funny how back in the day people were stoked for that from what I remember, but now that it is actually here, people seem to hate it. The playfield looks very similar to the original concept, as well as the backglass art. Pinball people are so fickle. Maybe the closeness to the JP design is the problem. Sure, the trailer wasn't the best, but is the code done? I an guessing the sounds and call outs may improve.

If you watch that trailer muted it gives you a whole other impression. The music sounds good, but those call outs leave a lot to be desired. It’s fixable though, hell Xmen just got .83 code that changed the entire music, it’s like a whole new game now. The rest of this game is gorgeous, sexy women and all.

Crazy how much the high hopes of this game melted into it becoming a literal laughing stock. To me, the callouts and overall immersion of the theme make or break a game, and it’s a shame that this one has to be this bad.
I assumed this would be a completely original layout. the fact that they effectively took JPOP's foamcore and made it into a working game puts so much stink on this. They took zombi yeti's artwork and crapped all over it. This will be a unicorn like when you visit someone's collection that has a big bang bar.. You go "oh wow, you have one of those rare games", you play one game crossing your fingers nothing breaks on it, and you never play it again.

The only thing I can think of is selling off all my magic cards I've been collecting since the early 2000's to fund a single machine.. but then that blocks another hobby that a rather enjoy... sadly i think pinball might be a hobby i enjoy from a distance. any advice on cheaper good beginner pins

Who is this game targeting as a buyer/player? It's a children's theme with an adult twist. They will probably sell but good thing they are limited to 500 so people get some fomo.
First - The game comes with bad vibes from the get-go.. Jpop, Dutch .. etc. Dutch is almost as bad as Haggis except they just didn't go out of business.. but how long did it take for them to fill their TBL orders? a decade? Second - The game just doesn't look fun at all to play.. either they're bad at videoing or the game just actually has nothing fun to shoot. However, I recognize that I guess not all games are meant to be for players. This game just comes off as a show piece in a private collection that will get a play here and there. The art is w/e, I think it's overly sexualized for what I was expecting when I heard the theme. Someone pointed out to me that there are different iterations of the Alice in Wonderland story such as Grimm's Fairy Tales where there are more "detailed" women portrayed as the characters... I think it's just that DPX didn't really pick a lane or manage expectations well. It was said to be dark but not "mature" if that makes sense. What I noticed from you and Kaneda's content was this, a sudden change in the angle of your coverage compared to other releases. Kaneda is king "Wait and see" ... and you've been huge on "don't buy until you play" type of approach to new games. Instead it felt like a lot of sales pitching from the content rather than an objective review. I don't think it was intentional from you but that's how it came across. That's probably the reason why folks would call you out for backpedaling on pinside. I know you put on a lot of skits about manufacturers but it felt a little out of place as an intro your stream yesterday, almost like a "well they didn't invite me to showcase their games but DPX did so let me throw another jab at them here" type deal. Anyway, I'll be at Expo and see it in person for myself.. get on line and play a game but none of the reveal moved the needle for me. I'm way more excited to play X-Men and give Avatar a go over this game (and I truly dislike Avatar as an IP/Theme). I'll obviously see if this thought holds true after I play but I'm suspicious that the game is actually terrible and the attention of the viewer is being pushed to custom sculpts and artwork to distract them from that fact.

The voice acting is pretty bad, making the call outs weak AF honestly. I also struggle to see $12K there. My opinion doesn't matter. I have the utmost confidence that this will sell out. I don't think the trailer was all that bad. I'm just not into pinball companies that are only interested in making 500 of anything. My reaction to that is GTFO of here with that boutique BS! Are you a pinball manufacturing company or not? Apparently DPX can somehow keep the doors open by selling and delivering 1 game a month. Not sure how that shakes out. Perhaps they have a part time staff. Perhaps it's a 3 person shop that do this as a hobby. Who knows, but they aren't serious about making pinball machines. And for what they are asking Avatar gives you a lot more. It looks better, it looks to play better and JJP has a much better track record in terms of quality, durability, delivering on promises, etc. X-Men looks and looks to play better than this. Nothing against those buying this, more power to you. All I ask is share it with others because otherwise people will never see it. That's my rant on that.
Kind of weird how they’re sexualizing the characters in the game. Takes away from the nostalgia for me. It’s definitely a bright and attractive game though. Looks like the flow and gameplay are bad but it’s tough to tell from the trailer.
Pinball historically catered to male tastes, I see no reason for that to change. I don't mind the seductiveness of the artwork. I do think that some of the artwork, mainly Alice, is wonky and off kilter in terms to how she and her hair is drawn. The proportions don't look right to me, but I've not see it in person and that does matter. The queen of hearts I have no issues with. She looks way better than Alice with her lopsided hair and head. I really liked the artwork in the cut scenes and animation. I thought that was well done. My main gripe is the limited nature of the game and price. Why not build as many as you can sell and make it a bit more affordable?

I think the whole package looks great and sounds great. This is only their 2nd pin release in 10 years. I am unbothered by the "teaser" video.

I know you put on a lot of skits about manufacturers but it felt a little out of place as an intro your stream yesterday, almost like a "well they didn't invite me to showcase their games but DPX did so let me throw another jab at them here" type deal.
Anyway, I'll be at Expo and see it in person for myself.. get on line and play a game but none of the reveal moved the needle for me. I'm way more excited to play X-Men and give Avatar a go over this game (and I truly dislike Avatar as an IP/Theme). I'll obviously see if this thought holds true after I play but I'm suspicious that the game is actually terrible and the attention of the viewer is being pushed to custom sculpts and artwork to distract them from that fact.

Game Looks great. Hard pass but it looks nice.
Nothing, in my opinion, divided us like James Bond 60th Anniversary LE.
The voice acting is pretty bad, making the call outs weak AF honestly. I also struggle to see $12K there. My opinion doesn't matter. I have the utmost confidence that this will sell out. The real question is, does it become the new Magic Girl (Insane collector price) or does it fall to mediocrity like most pins? Dun Dun Dun
I don't think the trailer was all that bad. I'm just not into pinball companies that are only interested in making 500 of anything. My reaction to that is GTFO of here with that boutique BS! Are you a pinball manufacturing company or not? Apparently DPX can somehow keep the doors open by selling and delivering 1 game a month. Not sure how that shakes out. Perhaps they have a part time staff. Perhaps it's a 3 person shop that do this as a hobby. Who knows, but they aren't serious about making pinball machines. And for what they are asking Avatar gives you a lot more. It looks better, it looks to play better and JJP has a much better track record in terms of quality, durability, delivering on promises, etc. X-Men looks and looks to play better than this. Nothing against those buying this, more power to you. All I ask is share it with others because otherwise people will never see it. That's my rant on that.

Kind of weird how they’re sexualizing the characters in the game. Takes away from the nostalgia for me. It’s definitely a bright and attractive game though. Looks like the flow and gameplay are bad but it’s tough to tell from the trailer.
Pinball historically catered to male tastes, I see no reason for that to change. I don't mind the seductiveness of the artwork. I do think that some of the artwork, mainly Alice, is wonky and off kilter in terms to how she and her hair is drawn. The proportions don't look right to me, but I've not see it in person and that does matter. The queen of hearts I have no issues with. She looks way better than Alice with her lopsided hair and head.
I really liked the artwork in the cut scenes and animation. I thought that was well done.
My main gripe is the limited nature of the game and price. Why not build as many as you can sell and make it a bit more affordable?
