I literally was just crouching right in front of him watching his idle animations to see what he says and i kept waiting for the: "Are ya goin' to buy somethin', stranga?"
Upon first encountering the merchant in this remake I was grinning like an idiot, enjoying his dialogue and this new theme. Then something happened that I didn't expect. He said something along the lines of - "Oohh, my back; time hasn't been kind to us, stranger." And I just stopped what I was doing. The music came more into focus with subtle hints of the original "Serenity" theme, and I was back in my bedroom when I was a kid playing the original on the GameCube. All the memories of that simpler time and all the life that's happened in between then and now. Hearing the merchant say that, it was like an old friend giving you a knowing look. Time hasn't been to kind lately in my life but it's not something I try to focus on. The music played and I just absorbed it. For me now, this theme has a surreal healing quality to it. Here's to all of us strangers out there; may time be kinder to us yet.
Honestly when i first saw the merchant, heard his voice and heard the music in the remake i got hit with so much nostalgia. To see one of the best npcs in gaming return after almost 20 years was such an amazing experience.
Is it just me or does this song seem really nostalgic even though it is new? It is almost like certain sound effects in the song are old memories of playing re4 flashing in and out
I think that's the point. They want you to recognize a sliver of it, and be like "wow. I remember that. The good old days. But those are gone now, and all that's left are memories that fade in and out." At least that's what this theme feels like to me. A lot more somber, but this theme screams "new chapter in life"
A bad decision imo. When you heard that theme, accompanied by familiar blue flames and a typewriter, you knew you were safe. I don't know what's going on with Capcom making classic themes (or just music in general) scarce in these remakes. Serenity was always soothing to listen to.
I love the original ost, but this is actually pretty good on its own too. They did a good job on this, I'm glad we didn't have another Resident Evil 3 scenario.
@@ashlynnshoolroy28honestly I hope they do code Veronica first before re5, mainly because this team knows the characters from re2, so having them continue Claire's story would be fitting, but it would also give us insight to how well they can do Chris, and so they have something to build off from. Like... Leon in here is more brooding and stoic, but still jokes around with snark(I see it as a coping mechanism) So that begs the question, how did Claire handle her experience? Did she throw herself into honing herself like Leon did(different method of course, she's not a government agent) or did she seek comfort from her family? Or maybe she did something else entirely... Hell, how are they gonna do Chris?
I don't think anything will change my opinion about serenity, it's such a melancholic and sad and happy song at the same time, it almost reminds me of good things that happened in the past, for me this song is special as hell, of all the moments I played this one I play with my father, it was the game of his life, the one he played the most and enjoyed playing on the Ps2, honestly, I don't think they will ever create music as relaxing and depressing as possible, it touches my heart and soul, it just I miss you and I remember a lot of good things
For some reason, this new version of Serenity took me back in time to the original one, to that kid who was playing and feeling safe and sound meanwhile serenity was playing, it feels nostalgic... I've needed this!!
The original “serenity” is amazing it’s so nostalgic to many of us it conveys fear and isolation “you’re safe for now” the 2023 gives me a feeling of hope redemption Leon is holding on to so much pain and wants nothing but to redeem himself same with Luis in other words this serenity gives us the feeling that this nightmare can end I can try to make things right and I think that tonal shift is quite endearing.
