Saw them at the Marco Polo hotel in Florida in the 70's. Amazing concert. Rob Grill one of the greatest singers in Rock and Roll history. RIP my friend
I always thought Rob and Warren Entner looked like brothers back in the early years of the band. They were both very handsome and their singing voices sounded exactly the same, I could never tell which of them was singing just by listening. ❤👍
♫►Remembering † July 11 2011 - Rob Grill, American singer-songwriter and bass player (b. 1943) ♫Robert Frank Grill (November 30, 1943 - July 11, 2011) was an American lead singer, songwriter and bass guitarist, best known as a member of the rock and roll group The Grass Roots. Grill was a native of Hollywood, California where he attended Hollywood High School. Soon after graduation, he began working at American Recording Studios with musician friends Cory Wells and John Kay (who later formed Three Dog Night and Steppenwolf, respectively). Grill was asked to join The Grass Roots, which grew out of a project originating from Dunhill Records owned by Lou Adler. Their song “Where Were You When I Needed You”, recorded as a demo with P.F. Sloan as lead singer was released under the name “The Grass Roots” and started to get airplay in San Francisco Bay area. Dunhill searched for a band to become The Grass Roots. After the first group they chose departed, a Los Angeles band composed of Creed Bratton, Rick Coonce, Warren Entner, and Kenny Fukomoto, was recruited to become The Grass Roots. When Fukumoto was drafted into the army, Grill was brought in as his replacement. With Grill as lead singer, they recorded another version of "Where Were You When I Needed You" and he became the band’s longest serving member, appearing with them for more than four decades. Grill went on to produce and manage the band and became owner of The Grass Roots name. While in the arms of his wife Nancy, Grill died July 11, 2011 in an Orlando, Florida hospital from complications after a stroke. ♫►edited from wikipedia..
This is so great!!! They came through Winnipeg shortly after I had a 5 month stint in hospital and I wasn't strong enough to see them. How I wish I could have! Always loved them. So sad that Rob passed away. Thankfully we can still have this!
Donalene Dowgan I'm 27 years old and I was born in 1989 and raised in the 1990's and grew up in the 2000's and I love The Grass Roots this song is my number one favorite song from 1967 my parents grew up listening to this music and this music was passed on to me
I saw Rob and The Grass Roots perform every time they came to the St.Louis area. The last time was at Argosy Casino in Alton, IL. Rob autographed their "Live At Last" CD and a group picture for me. I told Rob I wished they had sung "The River is Wide". He said to remind him on the next trip to St.Louis. Unfortunately there was no "next time" Rob and the original Grass Roots deserve to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Such a great classic song. Brings back fond memories of my much younger days.😀 Simpler times, good times, great friends. Got along real well without computers or cell phones. RIP Rob Grill. The Grass roots music will live on forever.
What I see and love in all the old clips I find, is that Rob seems to delight in the talents of his band mates immensely. You never get any vibe of "look at me, I'm the star" from Rob. And that's as it should be.
Good to hear from a fellow GR fan. I also saw Rob and the guys in concert several times in my area, the last time...March, prior to his passing. NEVER....in a million years did I think that would be the last time I saw that beautiful face, or heard that amazing voice. He will always be in my heart. ~~~Remember....LET'S LIVE FOR TODAY.
LousFool*I saw a post from you & u were angry about some post that I take was very ugly about Rob,I didn't see the post I'm sure it would have pissed me off because I love Rob,always will.would u please give me the gist of that post,I have to make sure to watch out for those post.Thank you.
Vielen Dank für das Video! Das ist einfach nur großartig! Mehr gibt es nicht zu sagen! Thanks for the video! This is nothing but great! Nothing else to say! 🥰Love Rob! 🥰 So sad not to see him live anymore
The band is still playing today, I saw them in Vegas last November. I know the guitar player (Dusty Hanvey) is still with them, as is Larry Nelson (keyboards)
Saw them in the mid 60's on the "Where The Action Is" circuit They were the opening act for The Turtles and the headliner The Dave Clark Five. The GR were a great group with a good message with their lyrics
This extended version is amazing 😻 because they certainly, “Knocked This Song Out Of The Ballpark. Even through the 70’s there were times that this was played on the radio. We know that the DJ’s weren’t kids and if they were part of the 60’s once in a while they play an oldie along with the current hits. No doubt they were remembering their Hippie days especially if they were part of Woodstock. We know that those days won’t come back especially the “Counter Culture Revolution”.

What a great group.... Never got the recognition they deserved in the 1960's or 1970's. Why aren't they in the R&R Hall of fame !!!!
Rob Grill was the best no one could stand in his shoes.
Impassioned performance from Mr Grill.

RIP Rob.
Rob Grill was an excellent front man.
A beautiful man, body and soul. And of course that gorgeous face. A voice...never to be forgotten. I'll never forget you Rob.
Don't Live for Nostalgia, LIVE FOR TODAY.
I love this. The Grass Roots and the BEEGEES were my favorites. Grass Roots came first.
Amazing voice!!

Wow... That solo was amazing. What a performance.

Handsome green eyed Grill.
I like that flushed romantic look on Grills face as he sings this.
Saw them in the mid 60's on the "Where The Action Is" circuit They were the opening act for The Turtles and the headliner The Dave Clark Five. The GR were a great group with a good message with their lyrics
Rest In Peace Rob Grill

Are those people dead ?
They are clearly missing Creed Bratton!
