Wow!!!!! I remember this album growing up in Philly! I used to listen to it over and over trying to play the drummers piece in it. Man he was great back then. I really enjoyed listening to this tune again. Brings back lots of fun memories. Thanks for posting it on the tube, great job...............Peace
Back to the 80 I lived in London, and I had it in a vinilo, that unfortnatly, I lost it. Great song I enjoy at all times. Now lived in Madrid Spain, and thanks to TH-cam, we have enjoable times.
I used to have this album, I love this song this is one of them songs you smoke a joint sit back with your eyes closed and just let the music take you away.
Very interesting record sleeve. Get Ready, of course, came out in 1969; Yet this appears on a Motown label (Prodigal) that was active from 1975-1978. For the record, the pictured version is a 45 single from Japan, distributed at the time by Toshiba-EMI (EMI was, at the time, the worldwide distributor for Motown outside the USA)
@reguissol YOU TUBE should be do a exception for this exceptional and great song this son is really amazing no matter the way to show it... thank you for upload
Do you folks remember the show "Wonder Years"? That show put visual image about that time period. Well Rare Earth "Get Ready" is exactly the same. Year, 1969 and at camp for the summer. This started playing and I had my first slow dance. Yes, I said slow because as you know how the song starts. Who knew? I did not I was just happy to be having my first slow dance with my first girlfriend. However, this song set up my music taste for the last 41 years. New Age, Jazz, Rock and Soul.
I saw them at the WBAM Radio Summer show, at the old Garrett Colosseum, the summer of 1969, in Montgomery, Alabama. The drummer broke three drumsticks and switched them all without skipping a beat.
saw them in the first duff concert at rfk stadium in washington,dc along with mandril, the jimmy castor bunch, the new birth and others i, cant remember, the best time a 14 year old could ever had far out and groovie man peace
RARE Earth Funky white boys, Three Dogs night, Mandrill, Chicago, man I used to dance this tune at the tunnel in NY, the memories. Allman Brothers Band,Emerson Lake and Palmer, Santana, I must stop, getting emotional.
Yes, I am lucky to have been around at that time, I have so many memories, I will use this to travel back in time. Thanks for pointing this out to me. Peace and love.
cont'd... we're still together since and just thrilled ourselves with our 3rd honeymoon (30 years Anniv) on both islands in NZ last year. Get Ready... mates, we're heading for the next 50 years, no sweat & God permitting!
Note to TheWorfster: No worries, m8..Many folk have made the same assumption throughout the years. Wouldja believe that also prior to Earth, there was also Paul Peterson (of the Donna Reed Show),The Much Regretted Soupy Sales on Motown?to name but a couple. Note to GoodbyeSobriety: You are correct, m8; Berry Gordy - with MORE than a little help from his conferes Suzanne DePasse, Harry Balk & Barney Ales - devised the Rare Earth label as a way to tap into said music scene.
Note to TheWorfster: Um...not quite, m8.. Whilst Rare Earth was the first *prosperous, hit-making* White group to be on Motown, the distinction of being the *first* White act on Motown goes to a quartet known as The Valadiers, signed on the strength of Berry Gordy's best pal Jackie Wilson in 1963/4; They composed & recorded the original version of "Greetings! (This Is Uncle Sam)" which later became a hit for fellow Motown group The Monitors in the late 1960's
Note to georgehalo123: That's Gil Bridges, one of the founding members of the band, ever since they were known as "The Sunliners", and the *only* remaining original member in the group to-day.
Hahaha...I was waiting for somebody to say that about these guys. I myself am a big Progressive Rock guy, and I totally hear some progy touches to this. But nobody ever mentions them as being affiliated with anything remotely close to progressive rock.
Continued from last post: Sadly, as stellar as 90% of the overall talent on the label was, only Rare Earth and Hollnad-Dozier-Honlland protege R. Dean Taylor were the only hitmakers for the lable (In the States anyway). You should tune into artistes like XIT, Power Of Zeus, Lost Nation on TH-cam for many 'lost' gems....
PETE RIVERA-RAY MONETTE,ED GUZMAN and the rest were master musicians, their music is beyond the scope of the trash that is protrayed today as music, just like a car or motorcyle, you have to go to the past to get what you want,EXPECT,i don't live in the past,i just remember we had it made and didn't know it,we do now, listen to genius, that is RARE EARTH'S LEGACY,them,GFR-PURPLE-SABBATH-ALICE-ELO-RUSH-YES-FOREIGNER-FLOYD-WHO CAN COMPARE TO THESE,WHO?

Oh yeahhhhhh. I had a '69 Chevy Impala with an 8-track player and I would cruise for hours blowin' smoke and listening to this song.
I used to have this album, I love this song this is one of them songs you smoke a joint sit back with your eyes closed and just let the music take you away.
Things will never be this good again...! So tight!! Thanks over and over!!!
久しぶりに見たよ、三十何年か前を、思い出す....嬉しいわ!
El placer más grande es escuchar la versión completa y disfrutar todos esos sonidos y la destreza de cada uno de sus músicos.
