      +McLovin McW actually, no. I mean yes, the seahawks win, but a lot more than that happens. See, then Darrelle Revis would stay with the patriots, as he still needs a superbowl ring. In order to free up rosters spots, the patriots release Malcom Butler, as he didn't make the SUPERBOWL interception, therefore no one know his talent. So, the jets, now needing a corner, sign malcolm butler just to be a backup, but butler wins the starting role, then proving himself by racking up 5 interceptions. The jets then win one more game in order to win the wildcard spot over the steelers. The jets, of course, beat the bengals who still won't win a playoff game, then move on to the broncos. Butler picks off peyton manning, and runs it into the inzone for the game winning touchdown. It's now darrelle revis and the patriots against his former team, malcolm butler and the jets, who coincidentally is also his former team. Who wins? Why, the patriots. The jets don't sack brady 20 times, and the

      +McLovin McW take on the panthers in the superbowl, in which cam newton still chokes the lead to the patriots stellar defense, and darrele revis wins mvp, picking off cam newton twice. Brady still gets 4 rings, but he seahawks add another, and peyton manning retire humiliated and defeated, being traded to the browns while the broncos keep Osweiler, so manning retires before he has to play there.

    • @quentinlees1499
      @quentinlees1499 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Gabe Castillo You are funny.
      Its NOT a catch. The reciever did NOT have possesion of the football going to the ground. It doesnt matter if he crossed the plain, because he didnt have the ball. If someone had touched him before he hit the ground, it would have a completed pass and down at the one yard line.
      Also, the refs called it incomplete, so therefore, it is incomplete.

    • @SaldanaSean
      @SaldanaSean 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You can't really say that. A touchdown on fourth down is a massive momentum shifter and clock management isn't easy to do.
      The Cowboys would have more than likely won that game and played Seattle, a team the dominated at hone earlier in the season.
      The Cowboys had the highest production offense that year.
      If it wasn't for that call, there was like a 40% they'd have won the Superbowl.

    • @thetannernation
      @thetannernation 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Sean Saldana
      You assuming that is just as much an assumption as someone assuming the opposite. Really the facts are the game is in Lambeau where the pack hadn't lost in over 2 seasons. And the offense was fresh off a dart TD from the MVP. They could've drove enough to kick a field goal with ease.
      But the fact beyond that is that dez Bryant dropped that ball. No matter what anyone thinks. He had the ball. Then the ground popped it out of his possession when he landed. It's a freaking drop.
      On top of that Aaron Rodgers played through A TORN CALF. He was limping the whole game and borderline immobile. A 100% packers team would've dropped over 40 points on the cowboys mediocre defense.

    People seem to forget that the Packers still drove down the field into field goal position with plenty of time left when all they were trying to do was run the clock out. They still would've had a chance to kick a field goal to win, or even keep trying for a TD. Packers still win, they still choke in the NFC Championship and the Seahawks still lose in the super bowl.

      I'm not sure about the rule being bad. If that rule didn't exist, many plays that would otherwise be incomplete would become fumbles. Imagine a hitch route, for example. Without the football move rule, it is essentially a completed catch as soon as the receiver touches the ball. This means that when a hard hitting linebacker immediately knocks it out, it is a fumble. Not exactly fair imo.

    • @evanb1315

      If he did that in today’s game that would’ve been ruled a catch because his knee hit the ground first and even if it were in 2014 I still think that would be a catch the ball doesn’t even touch the ground

    Assuming best case scenario for the Cowboys, they have the ball inside the 1 and score on 4th down, running the play clock all the way down between each play, and add a 2 point conversion. This puts them up by 3 with about 2:30 left to play. Now what happens from there obviously nobody can say for sure. But, given that Green Bay had driven to the Dallas 23 when all they were trying to do was run the clock out, and was already pretty hot in the 4th quarter before Dez dropped it, I would feel pretty good about putting my money on Dallas still not winning that game.

    So what would happen if the referees had ruled that Dez caught the ball? Maybe it'll go something like this...
    The score is now 27 - 26. Jason Garrett decides to go for two. They give the ball to Murray. Demarco Murray pushes forward, but he's right on the edge. The Cowboy's offensive line pushes Murray forward as the Packers' defensive line tries to push him back. Finally one ref call the 2-point conversion good! Mike McMarthy, being super salty that he lost the challenge, and still having one challenge left, decides to challenge again. Refs look at the review. They determine that Murray DID NOT get the two point conversion. The score remains 27-26.
    Packers now have the ball. With the momentum on their side, Rodgers and the crew pushes forward until they reach the Cowboys redzone. They're now at the 20 yard line with 40 seconds left on the clock. But the Dallas Defense doesn't give up. They know that they still have a chance to win this game if their offense gets one more opportunity. Rodgers throws an incomplete pass on first down. And also on second. And also on third. Packers are forced to kick a field goal and the score becomes 27 - 29. Now with only 30 seconds left, Tony Romo and the rest of the Boys return to the field. Romo throws 18 yard pass to Terrance Williams for the sideline. Then another 9 yarder to Witten. Finally Romo throws a beautiful 34 yard pass to Dez Bryant. With 3 seconds left, the Cowboys call their final timeout. Dan Bailey lines up to kick the game winning field goal. It's for 48 yards and the kick is good! COWBOYS WIN 30-29!
    Cowboys beat the Seahawks easily. Final score was 34 - 17
    Now! The Big Game! It's the Patriots vs Cowboys for Superbowl 49. The game is being viewed by over 5 billion people. Yes, even little kids in China and India are watching the game. Roger Goodell is crying tears of joy because of all the cash revenue that the ratings will bring. Anyways back to the game. Tom Brady and the Patriots start their first drive strong with a touchdown. It's now the Cowboys' turn. Tony Romo and the crew get to the Patriot redzone. It's 2nd and goal and then OH NO Tony Romo throws an interception! Tom Brady and the Patriots capitalize and get another touchdown. Now it's time for the Cowboys offense to redeem themselves. They manage to get to the Patriots' 33 yard line. It's 3rd and 10, and OH ON Tony Romo gets sacked and fumbles the ball! Thankfully he did not get injured. The Patriots come back and score another touchdown. It's now 24 - 3 at halftime.
    The Cowboys start the second half and manage to get a touchdown. 24 - 10. But Tom Brady and The Patriots stay vigilant and score another touchdown. It's 31 - 10. But the Cowboys score another touchdown too! It's 31 - 17. With the Cowboys gaining momentum, the Defense gets riled up. They force a 3 and out for the Patriots. The Cowboys get the ball again and score another touchdown. The score is now 31 - 24. It's the fourth quarter with 5 minutes to go. Cowboys have the ball. They drive up the field. They get to the Patriot's 40 yard line. They give it to the Demarco Murray who picks up 5. Second down. Romo throws an incomplete pass. Third down. Romo throws to Beasley but Beasley can only gain 3 yards. The Cowboys are fourth and two with 4:42 to go. Jason Garrett say's to go for it. Dez is one on one at the left side of the field. Romo steps back. Throws! Dez leaps in the air and miraculously catches the ball. He takes three steps. He's falling to the ground. As he falls, he lunges for the endzone. The ref signals TOUCHDOWN! It's beautiful! Fans are screaming! The stadium goes nuts! Then Belichick decides to challenge. He throws the red flag. The refs gather. One minute passes. Then two, then three. The suspense builds. It's now been four full minute. Finally! The refs come back. And their verdict: Dez Bryant's catch was incomplete. The stadium boos. Dez Bryant and the rest of the Cowboys are shocked. The Patriots offense comes back out, drives up the field, and run the clock out. Patriots become Superbowl 49 champions. Afterwards, all the press talks about is what a bad call it was by the referees. Later reports come out that Brady deflated the footballs again and Belichick paid the refs. The world may never know what actually happened, but one thing is for sure... Dez Caught It.

    You go and claim that the Cowboys would win if Dez's catch was ruled a touchdown. That would have put them up 2 if they kicked the extra point, 3 if they converted the 2 points, or 1 if they failed either. That being said, that would leave a bit over three minutes of play for Aaron Rodgers to work his magic, and he proved that in 2016 when they won in Jerry World by marching down the field in less than a minute to kick the game winner. I still say the Packers would have won.

It would have been the first of three times Jason Garrett gave away victories over GB because Dallas gave AR enough time at the end of each game to beat 'em. • @caraatkins4843
      @caraatkins4843 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      mike lane You're an idiot if that's was you truly think, to be honest. That WAS a lunge/reach for the endzone. That WAS a football move and that guy is right; the Calvin Johnson rule doesn't even apply to Dez's catch. Calvin Johnson was already in the endzone and didn't have a "football move" to make- he just needs to hold onto the ball and it's a TD. Dez was outside the endzone and still had a "football move" to make, as he was trying to reach to the endzone to score. And if you actually watched Dez Bryant play consistently throughout the season and his career for that matter, you would see him make plays like this all the time. He IS freakishly athletic enough to make plays like this- he does it all the time. When he catches the ball, he always fights for yards through defenders and stumbles forward while doing so, only to keep his balance and keep running, OR when he does fall, he reaches out for the first down marker/goal line. With the Dez play, he went up and caught the ball in the air over the defender, brings the ball in and SWITCHES HANDS, takes 3 steps forward, then reaches his left arm with the ball in it, for the goal line. For people like you who don't watch him, you don't know truly how good and athletic he is, which is why you think he was STILL trying to catch the ball when he hit the ground when he had already secured it way earlier- because it was all in one smooth motion and you dont see many receivers like that week in and week out, if ever. Dez is THAT good. OBJ, too.

      Cara Atkins And you're an idiot if you actually think that's what happened. His momentum was carrying him forward, that wasn't a football move. The ref that called it said that's what he saw, the head of officiating said that's what he saw, the former head of officiating said that's what he saw, and the massive majority of non cowboy fans say that's what they saw. The ONLY group you can get to agree with you in majority is cowboy fans, which is obviously a biased source. Obviously tells you the call was correct.

In addition to that, the ball never even hit the ground, Dez's hand was under it the whole time, while the ball did go up but still in his possession. Definitely should have been a catch.

    Two other things he didn't bring up:
    1. The Lions would've done better in 2010. A few yrs ago, one Lions fans brought up how the no-catch game ruined their season. Most of their losses were close and the no-catch ruling played a part in them failing to seal the deal. Do I think they would've been a playoff team? Not really. They would've come away with 7-8 wins, maybe 9.
    2. To continue with the video, the Lions would've come away empty against the Seahawks and the Panthers would've gone to Green Bay and they would've lost to the Packers. Thus, the NFC Title Game would've stayed the same.

    Please. Dallas still had a chance to win that game, but they couldn't stop the Packers on the next drive. Even if Dallas scored, Rodgers would've had four minutes to get them in field goal range. When the season's on the line, do you honestly have that much faith in the 2014 Dallas Cowboys defense?
    Also, what is up with this video talking about "precedence", like the NFL is a court of law? These are refs, not supreme court justices, and precedence doesn't mean shit against the rules on the books. If the refs didn't reverse the Calvin Johnson catch, then it would've been a blown call; it wouldn't affect the Cowboys game unless the rule got changed.

    It's not like the Cowboys haven't benefitted from "catches" that weren't catches. Two that come to mind were Preston Pearson's trap in the 1975 NFC Championship Game in the L.A. Coliseum that was ruled a catch when it was obvious that the ball bounced as he was cradling it. The Cowboys won that in a blowout (37-7), so it really didn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
    The one everyone remembers happened a couple of seasons later in the Super Bowl. Butch Johnson's TD "catch" in Super Bowl XII was, in my opinion, not a catch at all. He dove for the ball, caught it, and then when he hit the ground as he crossed the goal line, out came the ball. Again, the Cowboys won that in a one-sided game so it probably didn't affect the outcome, but that's the one play from that otherwise dreadful game that everyone remembers, and it was a blown call, in my view, because he did not control the ball long enough.
    So the Cowboys have been on both ends of controversial "catch" calls over the years, and in the situation with Dez Bryant, it worked against them, though the Packers were probably going to win anyway.

    • @markw6676
      @markw6676 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, i just watched the replay of that catch and i thought it was a good catch. He caught the ball and when he rolled over, he lets the ball go because he knew it was a TD. He had the ball under control the whole way. I mean how long does the receiver actually have to hold on to the ball? To me , a catch is a catch. if you have already caught the ball and landed on 2 feet, that should be a catch know matter what

      In my mind, the Butch Johnson "catch" was not a catch because he was diving to catch the ball. And when you dive to catch a ball, to be considered a catch, the player has to maintain control through the dive, and in the case of Johnson's catch, he did not have it quite long enough. The rule is the exact same in baseball. If a player dives to catch a ball, he has to keep control throughout the entire action of the play. Had Johnson been running, even losing balance, caught the ball, and then dove, I would agree that it was a catch, but he dove to catch the ball and lost control once he hit the ground, hence I don't think it was a catch. He may have simply let it go once he got into the end zone, but in my view, he didn't possess it long enough.

      The ball never came lose. he just simply dropped it after he rolled over. In the refs mind he caught the ball. The ref felt like he had held onto it long enough. Like I said, in your opinion, how long do they have to hold onto it. The thing about the Dez catch is the ref was standing right there watching the whole play and thought Dez had completed the process. enough to where he down by contact at the 1. You would hope the refs know the rules. So if the ref is right there watching the play and thought Dez had completed the process, it should not have been overturned. Like I said , how long does the process have to be? If a guy catches a football at the 50, runs to the goal and so for what ever reason trips at the 5 or 4yrd line and as he he lunges to the goal the ball hits the ground and comes out, is that still a catch? i would think so. i think honestly the league felt they had to make up for the lions call the previous week

    • @cjs83172
      @cjs83172 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      In my mind, they should have to hold it long enough to come up from the ground. The Butch Johnson situation was razor-thin, because when he let go of the ball, he let it go as if he was rolling a pair of dice, but he did not hold onto it through the entire process. But the manner in which he let go of the ball would make one think he controlled it long enough. The official thought so, which was why he ruled it a catch. But even experts today say that it likely would not be ruled a catch under today's rules.
      And again, in my view, when a player dives to catch the ball, he has to have it under control through the entire process if it hits the ground. Of course, if it never hits the ground, then it doesn't matter if he controlled it through the entire process. But if a player is running, loses his balance while catching the ball and then dives or rolls after he gets possession of the ball, then I don't think he has to control it through the entire process, just long enough to have both feet (or hands), or any other body part hit the ground, then I would consider it to be a catch.
      That's why the Butch Johnson catch is such a gray area, because if he dove to catch the ball and it came loose upon impact with the ground, as it appeared, then it's not a catch, but if he stumbled and gained possession before he dove, then it would probably was the right call. I think the manner in which the ball came loose also made a difference in the call being a completed pass vs. an incomplete pass.

      Mark W if he ran from the 50 and ball hit the ground cuz he tripped wouldnt that be a fumble? also he did catch the ball but because when he went down and the ball hit the ground and came out it was ruled that he didn't have control of the ball thus being an incomplete. now if that ball didn't come out of his hands then that catch would have counted but packers probably would have won anyways because they had enough time to make a td and got close to making one while tryin to run out the clock.

    Packers would have won that game even if Dez caught it. They had 5 minutes to score and Dallas had done nothing close to stopping them in the 2nd half.

    This was very poorly researched. The Lions didn't set the ruling for a catch or no catch, it was there before the season ever started.

    So looking back, McCarthy was able to challenge the call and let’s say it’s not overturned. Think about it. Dallas couldn’t milk the ball for four and a half minutes at the 1 yard line. So let’s say Dallas punches it in. That means Aaron Rodgers has over 2 minutes to march GB down into the red zone. At Lambeau. Against a mediocre defense that couldn’t hold back Rodgers when Green Bay was trying to run the clock. (They also couldn’t stop backup QB Matt Flynn a year prior IN Dallas. What’s to say they could stop Rodgers at Lambeau?) If you look at it logically, Rodgers would march Green Bay down the field and still win the game. Sorry Dallas. (FYI: You should feel lucky you were there. That Pass Interference call against Detroit a week earlier that got taken back was BS. You should have lost to the Lions. Just be happy you made it to Green Bay.)
