I'm gradually working my way through your vids mate and for entertainment factor alone I already owe you a few beers. I've gone back and forth with springer and pcp based on available funds but looking at this beautiful gun the budget may have to go out the window as I know whatever I get in the back of my mind I'll wish I'd gone for more premium and probably end up getting it further down the road anyway. Something I have decided though is whatever I settle on it'll be a Cometa and I'll be buying it from you. Your open, honest and trustworthy reviews have sold me. Keep up the great work fella but please just get reviews out a bit more often as what you do is brilliant! 😉👍
Loved the review Dan but really looking forward to seeing your 97 vs TX video and your personal thoughts (will he make it a tie like Gary Chillingworth ☺️). as a 97 owner, will be cheering for 'Zee Germans' but obviously also acknowledge how awesome the TX is 🇬🇧😉....don't keep us waiting!!
@@bigdansairguns83 Hi Dan, It arrived empty, airless, filled it via my scuba slowly and it blew out the silencer, sent it back to Cometa, 3 weeks later it was returned half full, attempted to filled it and it blew out the breach, sent it back again and had it returned full of air, went to use it 2 days later....empty. I have fitted two complete sets of seals, both times I swapped them out myself as the whole job is fairly straight forward, it still leaked overnight. Finally😴😴, I filled it up, submerged it in bubbly water, and the leak is in the welding around the base of the manometer. Informing Cometa of this new found fault I was refused a 3rd return. It now lives in a bag in the corner of the room, until I come across a welder. Although stocks are generally dodgy ground, I had the same poo customer service when my fusion star stock cracked. The perils of shooting i guess.....however on a final note, my 220 compact, 300 and 400 USC are all spot on. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼👍
Thanks for your time Dan awesome to see these guns getting some long overdue limelight! Wouldn't it be interesting to see a Welsh willy trigger on them?, Wonder how they would group with a drop pistol grip and that bipod stud!
Hi Dan, yes I would have one of them in the wood stock. I know how accurate the Cometa's are, I have the 400. The gun could do with some of the same pellets running through it. I use the Jsb express & Spitfires. Both shoot well through the 400. Cracking review of the much overlooked cometa range of gun's. My only thought is the price, it has some serious company at that price & not an easy sell. Would like to see you return to this after a good Barrel clean & bedding in with the jsb Express. Nice one Dan, keep them coming.
Hi Brandon! It's definitely more expensive than the other Cometas however from a performance and spec perspective I'd argue it's equal or superior to most £1300 rifles, especially when you consider the accuracy, shot count, carbon bottle, Lane reg, laminate adjustable stock and we're offering it with a damn good scope, case, SS tray and lifetime warranty. The really sad part is that the only thing letting it down is that it doesn't have a German badge... but time will change that. 😉
@@bigdansairguns83 I couldn't agree with you more. I like to be different & try something new. Not just follow the crowd. I can't believe the Cometa range is not people's go to affordable air rifles. Love mine, very good for the price. Hope people see your review & give them a try. Lifetime warranty must be a quality product, made with quality part's. People at the range try mine and can't believe how good it is. I have just fitted a Westhunter scope ffp hd 4x16 by 44, way better that the Hawke Airmax. Hey dan another great video just wandering if you seen the new smk catalogue and the remington t rex looks like a bargin pcp available in .25 also the blank bunker m8 is on my list to santa
Hey Dan, what's the service interval on the bottle? And is it a common size for oem replacement? Finally would some weight in the moderator be a cheap solution to any flip maybe? Good honest review as ever 😎
Nice job Dan, I like the fixed single loading idea mate and the reg looks to be doing its job very well, trigger maybe set to pass the idiot test and as we know a very simple adjustment puts that right. The Cometa barrels are renowned for their quality and this one is no different, you wait until a proper pellet test is done on one 😂
Hey Chris! It's an excellent bit of kit eh mate? To be fair I do plan on doing another video with it in the future as well to show how accurate they really are... with a proper rest as well this time! I don't think the backpack was helping me here.
@@bigdansairguns83 I really like this airgun just I'm not so sure about accuracy. Can you test it on the bench with proper rest ? I know it will never shot like mine Walther LG400 Anatomic, but if groups can be close to the groups I can shot with my AA s510R Ultimate Sporter I will buy this rifle because it's something nice and different .
Great review l do like that but it does look a bit long. The trigger if only you had some way to measure the amount it takes to pull that that we could see. And the accuracy I’m super impressed and what a way to prove that barrels prefer some pellets over others. Thanks Dan.
Hey Kev! Hahaha ever since I had that little gizmo it has been stolen from me multiple times. I think the brother stole it last when he played with his Pretensis I'll have to get it back.
Nice looking gun Dan but it up against some real sweet ones for that money. The reg is 110 that seems high compare to the dreamline which is 55 bar. Great review Dan I will be keeping an eye on this one 👍
Hi Jeff! To its credit it's better spec'd than most of its competition and it comes with a lifetime warranty. Cold hammer forged barrel, carbon fibre bottle, Lane regulator and a laminate adjustable stock. Compared to an R-12 (which is a beautiful rifle make no mistake) I'd say the Lynx ticks the most boxes. The only thing it lacks is badge and a carbine model.. Which is a shame especially for the former when you consider Cometa have been making rifles longer than possibly all of them. The reg pressure is a smidge high but most manufacturers set them high for some reason. To the rifle's credit it has possibly the best consistency I've ever seen for a freshly out of the box rifle and it's far from lacking shot count. 👍
Hi big dan have you seen the new h&n 8 been told that they are getting very close to jsb, but have you try 8.44 4.51mm, 4.52mm, 4.53mm i know sometime you may get a better grouping sir
Hi George! I plan on giving the Lynx another go at some point as the main issue is the rest. I'll get the new H&N's as I've personally found them already every bit as good as JSB as well as the new JTS pellets.
To be fair, Dan. I can get that accuracy, or better, with my unregulated Reximex 177 at 40 yards using 4.52 JSB Exacts for half the cost. My old Air Arms S400 MPR-FT 177 or my Dreamline 177 get far better groupings. I think Cometa need to look at their pricing. As a previous commenter stated, a Kral will happily take this on. I'll give it a miss.
Hi Rob! The main letdown with the rifle was my rest , wind and the fact I had to rush the review a tad. I plan on testing the Lynx again at even longer ranges if possible and with better conditions/rest. You can see the only spread is vertical as the muzzle is flipping due to a not secure enough rest for a rifle of this length, horizontally it was pellet on pellet which is further proven at 27 yards where it was one-hole. Once we have the rest sorted I'm willing to bet that S400 will be sweating... and I love an S400. 😉
Hey bud! Even the best barrels can be pellet fussy especially when you get into dedicated target rifles. To be fair the let down with the Lynx was the rifle rest not the rifle itself as can be seen by the vertical groups instead of horizontal. The cold hammer forged barrel is one of the best on the planet as can be seen with our 100 yard springer video where the Cometa Fusion printed sub 5p groups unrested.. I've seen "high end" PCP's fail at that at 45 yards!
Nice review, personally I don’t like it when the laser beam comment is used cos as everyone knows the trajectory of an Airgun pellet is as far from a laser beam as you can get. Being picky I know …. 👍
There I was thinking I was fussy haha! From now on I'll say: "It groups like an 8.4 grain lead diabolo shaped projectile travelling at around 770 feet per second".
@@bigdansairguns83 my other bugbear is when people say “it’s pellet on pellet” but won’t actually put up a pic…. Probably cos pellet on pellet to them means the holes are touching….
Ummmm! I think the jury is still out for me as l’m not sure l like it enough to pay that sort of money. Certainly it’s too long and more importantly for me the cocking lever can’t be reversed for a left hooker. Also, and l rarely disagree with you, but l wasn’t convinced about it being laser accurate, l think my S200 could out shoot it! Great review as always and looking forward to the 97/TX200 shoot off 👍
Hey Woody! I let the rifle down a tad to be fair, the wind wasn't entirely cooperating and the length of the rifle didn't seem to fit the rest well at all. At 27 yards it shot absolutely beautifully, a hole so small a pellet only just fit in there, 45 was still pretty darn good considering the conditions. I do plan on doing another video with the Lynx maybe with some more pellet testing thrown in and at longer ranges once the field is cut as to its credit not many rifles would've shot any better. S200's are fantastic though. 😉
Hey Sharpe! Out of the box it was a 2nd to then a third (again no idea why they're set like this). Zero creep at all as you can see the 2nd is a solid stop. After a very quick tweak she was a different animal though eh? 😉
