      It is, to many of us. We are diminished with the loss of Mors, but he spread his immense knowledge with many over the years. Hopefully, we can continue to spread his knowledge and legend just as he deserves.

    The thing I really like about bush cookers in general is number one they don't use much wood to do the same job as a camp fire. Secondly they reduce the risk of underground / forest fires, thirdly they are easy to extinguish when your ready to travel again. Thanks for sharing these.

    I use a bush buddy packed with my 1 litre hard anodized pot, alcohol stove and folding spork as my base kit. All this can then be put into my 1.8 litre Mors pot for cooking larger meals or more people. Normally, i just loose fill the stove with sticks and keep feeding it. I never really gave much thought to compacting it full with larger fuel - this I will have to give a try. Thanks Kelly.

      I have both, Kelly's suggestion of filling it works very well if you haven't tried it yet. BTW, the Bush Buddy first perfect in the Mini Mors. That's been my go-to cooking system for years where I can have open flame.

    Yes, The Quest for Fire, one of my favorite films. You gentleman look deeply interested in your subjects and thoroughly enjoying what you do. Also it's see a nice relationship between 2 people of different age. The gentleman in the cap looks like the mother of all Forest Rangers. If he came by my camp I would be all "Yes sir(s) just don't arrest me please (ha ha ha). My hat off to you gentlemen. Captain Scott... the South Pole

    Thanks Kelly, you have taken the irritation out of the bush stove! Keeping it going with little sticks was frustrating, this will solve that issue as well as make the stove more functional with the added heat. It was good to see you both, atb from Peace Country.

    Nice to hear Mors Kochanski referencing Lars Fält. And this bush cooker is very impressive too. The smaller one that is shown at the end would occupy the same volume as my billy can inside my pack. I could carry a stove without rearranging my kit!

    Bear fat works wonders. I've kept a small stick fire burning for ours while skinning and trimming a bear by just tossing small pieces of bear fat on the fire. Didn't smell to good, but it worked and it was handy to warm my hands periodically. 19:51 Scott ("of the Antarctic").

    The Master has left us! We will miss you dearly sir. God Bless your memory, and thank you for all that you have given to us in your lifetime.
    "I will build me a camp by a cool mountain spring, Where the trout play at eve and the wood thrushes sing; I will roof it with bark; and my snug sylvan house, Shall be sweet with the fragrance of evergreen boughs. When the shadows of night settle down on the marsh, And the cry of the bittern booms sullen and harsh, The glow of my hearth-fire shall glisten and shine; Where the beech and the hemlock their branches entwine." ~ G.W. I have watched many of your videos and thoroughly enjoy them. In several of the videos that I have seen, Mors mentions the black on the pot as being a fuel saver. I have not found a video that explains why; that is, the physics behind it. I'm positive that Mors has researched it. Is it because the darker color absorbs more of the fires energy released as light (infrared, light, ultraviolet)? I thought, too, that maybe the black coating acts as a thermal insulator but that would cause the opposite effect--it would take more energy to heat the contents.

    • @briargoatkilla
      @briargoatkilla 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      The theory has been disproven in several scientific tests, but I still swear it's true.

    • @steamboatmodel
      @steamboatmodel 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mors claims that the black absorbs the heat better, but the soot acts as a insulator. Some of mine are black because I am too lazy to scrub them off.

    Some paint the outside with stove black. Has thermal retention.
    So, what's the difference between the retentive properties of stove black and soot or (?) that turns your cooker black?
    What's the thermal retention of a base coat of stove black with an outer coat of soot?
