    Just completed the sprint today the rain made it incredibly difficult to go up an already difficult hike but it was hella worth it!

    I ran both days. They had a water crossing for both, it was where dunk wall was located and felt awesome. Palmerston never disappoints, the super that thinks its a beast. They upped the ante for the super with a second tough ascent through the woods which was a challenge. The sandbag carry up and down the diamond trail is always hard and this year they ran out of the heavier sandbag cause so many use dumped them, so we had to wait for others to bring theirs up for the handoff. Ape hanger was very cool but the signature for both days was an epic long, mogul and water filled barbed wire crawl at the end. It was humid and plenty of cramping at this point for some folks. Overall it felt like an old school Spartan Race, kinda like Wintergreen in 2014. Course seemed a little harder this year. Both races were great, I had a blast.

      We have heard multiple reports of this now somewhat legendary barbwire field. Sorry we missed that one. We are really hoping that something like this will be at more races, so this way we'll get, as you said, something more like the old school Spartan experience. Glad you had a great race weekend, my friend. Are you heading to Tri State NJ in Sept?

    Completed Palmerton Super 2024, hardest physical thing I have ever done. Have done hard HIIT workouts, triathlons, Trifecta weekends. Came to be 2700 ft elevation, 3 total "ascents." First one not bad since it is at the beginning and full of energy, second one is in the woods and STEEP. Third one (which is really the sandbag carry) was THE hardest obstacle I have ever done. I think it took me 20 minutes to complete. Picked up 70lb sandbag, walked 10-20 ft, dropped it, recovered, repeat, over and over and over again. Totally out of energy after that. Add in heat and humidity. Would love to get a "top 10 hardest SECTIONS of a Spartan race" video sometime! Definitely add the Palmerton Super to your to-do list. It is great training for Killington!

      Wow! Brutal! Palmerton has a reputation of being hard, seems like it lived up to it. And that is a great idea, top ten hardest sections. Killington would be in there, as would one or two instances of Mountain Creek NJ. Hmmmm, will have to think about that, and thanks!

    Doing both races this weekend. Definitely will report back. That uphill barb wire climb is almost as difficult as the double black diamond sandbag carry.

    We'll miss you guys this weekend. Will definitely report back. I'm thinking that all of the recent torrential rains maybe have eroded the mountain so it won't be so steep, etc. Got to be true, right?

    Alright - so here's the Post Race Report. Saturday Super -- very unusual. In the first 2.3 miles the only obstacles were 1 hurdle and 2 4-foot walls. It was like a trail run. Only a few obstacles up on top of the mountain, clusters at the bottom. Saturday was absolutely BRUTAL for 2 reasons (apart from the difficult climbs for which Palmerton is famous) = (1) the weather was Hot, Humid, and Sunny like a magnifying glass; and (2) a new version of the barbed wire crawl that looked like no-mans' land from WWI. Hard to describe. By far the most difficult obstacle of the day. Probably 250-300 feet long, every square inch excavated with scattered/irregular mud pits. Looked like it was blasted by enemy cannons. Uphill. Exhausting. Then we got pounded with thunder/lightning and torrential rain in the afternoon - everyone had to evacuate the course. Then they reopened after the storm passed and everything was drenched.
    Sunday Sprint much nicer weather. Steve Hammond was on the course - and was handing out medals at the end. I got mine from him - that was very cool.

      Thank you for checking in and giving us the post run recap! I had heard about the inclement weather and the course closure. I am glad that passed and they re-opened. I seem to recall that happening a few years ago as well. Crazy! I have also seen the barbed wire field. I kind of like it, with the pits and the uphill approach. I think the difficulty multiplier there is refreshing! Glad you were out there both days, and again sorry we missed you my friend. What's next for you this season?

      @@OCRKings I've never tried Tough Mudder, so I'm going to Chicago to try a Tough Mudder Infinity Race in August, then Killington Beast in Sept, and wrap up the year with the Marine Corps Marathon in Oct. Bonefrog in Lancaster is tough for me since it's so close to the Chicago race, but I'll definitely do the Bonefrog at Catamount Mountain next Spring.
      BTW - I saw somewhere that you guys are ramping up for a marathon - that's awesome! I've done about 20, so if there's any questions you have, I'd be glad to share some tips-from-experience with you.

    Do they makes timed sprints to each event? Or do they just walk over?

    • @OCRKings
      @OCRKings  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The races are timed, yes. Times come into play more for the competitive waves which go out earlier in the morning. The open waves are timed too, but people can go slower and or walk if so desired.
