The advertising token with the phrase “It’s Good Luck to Drink Green River” was part of Green River Whiskey’s marketing efforts in the early 20th century. The brand was known for its creative and engaging advertising, and this particular slogan was used around the 1910s and 1920s. The idea of associating the whiskey with good luck played into the popular marketing trends of the time, using catchy phrases and imagery to appeal to consumers.
These tokens were part of a broader marketing strategy that included advertisements, posters, and other promotional items, helping establish Green River as a well-known brand in the pre-Prohibition era. The use of tokens like these was common among distilleries and other businesses during that period, as they were often handed out as souvenirs or used as trade tokens.
    Cool find!

You could drink whiskey for good luck while you smoked a cigarette for your health! ;D

Do you make an appointment with the homeowner for when you are going to treasure hunt?

Yes. I am clear with the homeowner that I will never be on their property without their knowledge. We usually agree on a general day and time for me to return.
Other property owners say, "Come on by anytime you want" and it is of no concern to them whether they are home while I'm scanning their yard.

My mother is curious about how you go about getting these permissions for peoples yards.

Thank to your mother 😊 Simple question but a long answer.
60-70% of the permissions I get are from homeowners I meet while they are in their yard. I don't like to knock on doors but figure if someone is raking leaves or doing yardwork, it's no harm to introduce myself and ask to scan their yard. In general, people are friendly, and I'm not threatening, so I have about a 30% success rate approaching homeowners this way.
Next, I have relationships with a few small business owners who "flip" houses. While the home is in a state of rehabilitation, they don't mind at all if I hunt the yard. The state of the lawn is very low on their priority list.
The rest of the permissions are word of mouth, friends, family and fellow detectorists.
In all cases, I am happy to give the homeowner anything I find that has value to them. In reality, only a small percentage are actually interested enough to even take a look at what I've unearthed.
