Maybe if McLaren chose Lamborghini instead of Peugeot as suppliers. Maybe if Senna went to Indycar. Maybe if there was someone in front to overtake and brake more. Maybe if he retired early in San Marino.
I like how Sato drove it with a good speed and not cruising what many tend to do in these events. You could feel the power of the engine when Sato was short shifting too.
It gives me goosebumps just to look at that car racing and serch for the Senna's helmet collor pattern and it's not there. I never thot I would see that car racing again.
The old turbo v6s weren't as loud as the v10s or v8s that followed them but they sound a lot more exciting than the current ones with that vacuum cleaner sound of the electric motors in the hybrid power unit.
Yeah also bring them back so we can see our favorite drivers die for driving a better sounding but very unsafe car to please estupid "old school" fans that are afraid of innovation.
I would love to see Ayrtons Nephew Bruno Senna take this beauty and go for a really hot lap. took it to race speed. No fear, no bad thougts just the one and only chance for bruno to show finally that Ayrton is inside him. Would love to see Bruno in Monaco....when the engine is roarin' and Brjno goes around the streets one handed for shifting
Car looks deceptively simple, almost bland, unspectacular. But very low slung, clean lines, but overall looks, sends a subliminal message of how dominant the car is.
Why the hell they didn't they get Bruno Senna to do this? Not toning down Takuma at all, he drives very great here but, i just think it would be a no brainer to take a Senna to drive Senna's car
McLaren were very brave to let a Japanese driver take this car up the hill. On a different note, it’s good to see this car sporting the full Marlboro livery.
0:49 gg cameraman
Enjoying it with his own eyes

Um... are the cameramen all right? I mean, I wouldn't blame them.
Um, why?
The camera men were all bowing in respect for the MP4/4.

This car being driven by senna in monaco is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life.
Did you see the actual ‘88 race??

Perfect Sound , Perfect Engine , Perfect Machine
Nice Drive Takuma!

Oh, I didn't know the car was built in Japan. I know of only one part in the car built in Japan.
Twas all mclaren. They only needed an engine from honda
What a pleasant watching Sato driving Senna’s car!!!!
Loved seeing this and the Penske Indycar both in their Marlboro liveries
Funny enough, Ayrton also drove the PC-22 at a 1993 test in Phoenix.
Tipper-C-P also for Indycar as well and maybe the split never would have happened and he might have not died.

The reason that particular mclaren car has the Marlboro livery is because it's a privately owned car. Its not owned by mclaren

Really nice to see her again
but I miss the colours of the old yellow & green in the centre .
That was the FORMULAR 1.
great Cars, great persons.

That is a real f1 car 15 wins in 16 Grand Prix what a record to hold alongside the Alfa Romeo 158 6 wins in 7 Grand Prix
Reminds me of a certain other V6 that's been dominating lately
That one lost was the indy 500

Time machine was needed to bring back that sound. Senna’s voice
I was there last weekend it sounds even more amazing up close love that noise!!
Lucky man.
We all miss the man with the iconic yellow green and dark blue helmet, the Magic, Ayrton Senna do Brasil!
Sato was good
Senna was the best
Car was amazing 😉
@Rainer Werner Mindbinder Like Kamui Kobayashi
remember he only did karting for a year while most drivers did for 10+
It’s really striking to me how exposed the driver is in these older F1 cars. That weekend in ‘94 really changed a lot.
Even Takuma Sato
Fuck it. They need to bring these cars back!! Beautiful
Great car, still looks and sounds as good as it did back when it won, a proper piece of history 👍

*_I miss seeing Sato Takuma racing in his 2006 BAR Honda, it was the best sound I ever heard coming from a car!_*
Sound, design, beautiful
This has BEAUTY, but underneath lies the BEAST
It's so good to see this car again
Glad tô see Takuma not hitting this legend into the barrier
Not even full song and it still sounds better than the current turbo V6s.
Rob .357 did you hear the wo8
best car
Beautiful sound. Besides the V-10 sound, this is the next best.
What a sound!!
I miss Senna... :'(
Senna pra sempre!!!

I never got a chance to see the onboard of this car I onlye heard that it was a crazy car
Damn yes it is
You can hear the resemblance to the sound of today's engine
On this 1 of May, Senna forever!
The best two riders of the history
Sato-san❤
We Miss you Ayrton
Ahh a real F1 car!
Bring back the early 90’s spec! When cars were cars and men were men driving them with one hand!
@Gabriel True, they were quite dangerous. However at least bargeboards and dirty air were not a problem yet.
Yeah also bring them back so we can see our favorite drivers die for driving a better sounding but very unsafe car to please estupid "old school" fans that are afraid of innovation.
Gabriel I’ll help you prepare a safe space and provide ear protection so you can watch a real race sometime.... when your ready
The sound of SENNA 🇧🇷
Love how Honda left Marlboro logos all over the car, as it raced 31 years ago.
When the cameramen are too busy enjoying the spectacle in their own eyes
Awesome
Senna sempre!!!! 🇧🇷
best car ever, had the perfect match, with Airton Senna, best driver ever!

SENNA THE BEST 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Que temeridade deixar o Sato pilotar essa relíquia...hehehe
Gone are the good ol days of great f1
An Indy 500 winner driving an iconic F1 car. Great!
Its weird seeing that car without the famous yellow helmet
This is V6 Turbos, but better
Ahh now thats a v6 turbo engine
Each and every time I hear this 1.5 V6 I get goosebumps…if only the new engines would be allowed to consume some more fuel
F1s car used to sound so much throatier
Honda board: hey, Taku, win the Indy500 and we will let you drive mp4/4. Sato san: hold my milk bottle
Wow compared to today’s cars it looks so simple

That road is WAY too short...

v6t.
I hope the 2026 engines will sound like this

Oh, wow, an actual real F1 car.
What's wrong with modern f1 cars?
Unlike those fast, safe and well-engineered ones, yeah, those aren’t F1’s right?
I swear the color of this car started as red, and switched to orange near the end
whew sato didn't crash for once bit risky letting him drive a priceless car like that.
Still an indy500 winner tho

Oh wait
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
ELI5 why this v6 turbo sounds like this while 2019's v6 turbos sound like blenders inside a swimming pool?
It's because of the turbo location relative to the kinetic and hybrid bits
@Jordie Evans yes, which comprises everything except, ironically, power
Very good. But not the same without the yellow helmet.
GIVE TO RUBENS A OPORTUNITY TO DRIVE THIS CAR
GG

Looking at this makes me not like the HALO. This is just better.
McLaren needs to go back to Marlboro liveries ..they mite start winning again..
Would of been awesome I'd bruno senna drove it
Wow, he didnt even crash it, amazing...lol
Put Franchitti on track at the same time and Taku crashes...
He drives in Indy Car ofcourse he wouldn't crash it.
Almost every F1 race he was in he crashed the car..
Why does it sound so much better than the new f1 cars when they both have 1,6l v6 turbo engines 🤔🤔
Because today there's rubbish kinetic energy and hybrid components affecting turbo placement and noise
@@nessuno5403 A hybrid can sound good.
The 919 is an example. Up the revs, big exhaust and you have a bearable sound.
@@Minx5892 yes but the 919 is a boat, and we're comparing F1 cars with similar space and aero constraints
