As an aviation fan and former PPL pilot and I firmly believe the saying “if it looks right, it flies right” I’ve always loved the Lamda, it looks right and looks like something Lockheed Martin might actually make someday. It’s cockpit has good forward visibility with one large window rather than several smaller windows that had small blind spots, there was a fatal crash where a DC9 hit an F4 phantom because neither saw each other so few blind spots are ideal. The nose also droops down for good ground visibility (like Concorde on landing) making landing in a small area easier. The wings and rudder give it greater control authority in atmosphere and the fact it has twin engine reliability is also a bonus in terms of making it back to friendly lines if one of the engines hit or has a failure. In short it’s in my top 10 Star Wars ships I’d love to fly.
In legends, Cygnus also built the XG-1 "Starwing" Gunship heavy fighter from the X-Wing/TIE Fighter games. It resembled a smaller Lambda with more fins/wings.
Lambda: Vip transport Sentinel: troop transport Eta class : spec ops transport Zeta : cargo transport LAAT : hot active battle field drop ship , Vehicle transport Gauntlet kom'rok : armed Heavy jetpack troopers fighter transport What the empire does , Using Lambda for everything needing to transport regardless of role and capabilities if not slap along a Star destroyer we definitely have more of them than we need anyway ,A Gozanti if not very important mission or cannon fodder , like using X for any variable in maths
Let's also not forget that due to it being used as a troop transport departing stormtroopers where funneled down the central ramp, making it easy for rebels to gun them down as they off loaded.
To be fair, anyone attacking a Lambda from the front arc would also be exposed to a considerable number of rather big laser cannons from the shuttle itself. "Covering fire" should not be an issue in any actual fight
That’s the case with any military vehicle in real life though. It’s not exactly a bad thing. Realistically the Lambda shuttle pilot would never drop his troops off in an LZ (Landing Zone) that was hot anyway. If he had to drop troops off during battle then he would get at a safe distance away from the gunfire and offload the troops and they would walk the rest of the way into the battle. And if the Lambda ship had to evacuate troops it would land at an LZ and use its blasters or another squad of troopers already on board to suppress the enemy troops with gunfire until all friendly troopers were on board. This is how it’s done in real life.
when I was a kid watching the movies and then reading expanded universe novels I always wanted a Y-Wing or an A wing if I was really in the mood for some speed. I think he dropped the ball on this one. The reason everyone from High ranking imperials, to rebel personnel is using the Lambda shuttle is because like corellian light freighters, the Lambda shuttle is well designed with utility in mind. Depending on the configuration, the Lambda shuttle can do almost anything. I did not realize this until I gave one to my group in a roleplaying game. I fist gave them the ship for the same reason the rebells use it, as an infiltration vessel. But then I, or should I say we, discovered all the cool features it has. It has strong armor, shields, weapons and a descent sized cargo bay that can easily be modified for whatever you need the shuttle to do. In stock configuration it is a bit on the slow side, but not much, and alike everything else on the ship, can easily be fixed/modified. It is the empires Swiss army knife.

Whats all this Empire hate and Wookie admiration? What happened to the Human supremacist we all know and love?!
It's the star wars equivalent of the Mercedes 600 grosser of the 70s.

Light Sabers don't have blades they have beams
The darksaber has a flat beam making it a blade unlike the more conventional lightsaber beam style. A blade can also be the whole weapon. Bozo
Ok
Personally, Allan, I just chill out from giving Lucasfilm my money until they prove they vs make movies again
