Thank you so much! It is great to read such kind words, especially from a professional distiller :-) Glad, that you like my work! Anyway, this animation and doing the research was much fun as I like the Caribbean flair and setting very much.. although I have never been there ..
Wow! This is THE best video I have seen on any kind of alcohol distillery science. Amazing. I knew alittle bit about Rum, but this answered the question of HOW the molasses is used to extract alcohol that leads to the final product in my glass. I love rum in the summertime. Great for mixing with juices. whisky is not as refreshing as rum.
9:00 You've got the plumbing backwards on the retorts. The incoming vapor pipe has to be below the liquid surface, and the outgoing pipe has to be above the surface. This is so the "latent heat of vaporization" aka energy in the steam can be transferred to the liquid to re-distill it, this doesn't happen without bubbling the vapor through the liquid. The way you have it shown the pressure would increase, like a pressure cooker, until either a pressure relief valve opened or all the liquid in the retort was pushed over without reboiling - aka puking. Same plumbing problem with the second retort. In this case the pressure would puke the liquid over to the condenser. Side note, on top of the high wines retort, on the outside you show some rectification plates, but they aren't shown on the inside. Not a big deal, I think only one Jamaican distillery has rectification plates on top of a retort. Otherwise, I'm quite impressed with your work for someone who obviously doesn't do this for a living you show a good capacity to do research and simply communicate complex subjects. Bravo! BTW, feel free to hit me up if you need references for the above.
Hey, thank you very much for your tips.. I built the double retort still by taking some reference Images from hawaiian beverage guide but I just noticed that it is shown the right way, so I somehow got it mixed up.. damn.. :-D It's a shame I didn't notice, but it shouldn't be too difficult to change. I'm glad you like my work apart from that 🤙🏼
@@MrJhchrist yes, isn‘t it? I thought about doing a 3d animation about the different Kinds of distilleries.. as they are described quite well there.. Cheers
Hands down the perfect clip to learn and take part in how rum is made. You can only read so many books but never get to this level of visual understanding on how it all comes together in the process... unless you work at a rum distillery in the Caribbean!
thank you so much! Yes, I guess even the people working in a distillery don't have the possibility to cut away parts of their machines to have a look inside.. hooray for 3D software :-)
@@Supaxiro unfortunately not. I would search the Internet to find a good company.. i found some companies for my pictures on AliExpress.. as I live in Germany, there are some high quality but also expensive producers of brewery and distillery equipment
Thanks for the hint, yes, meanwhile, I figured that out, too. I've already changed the length of in and out in my personal project and for people who purchase the video, so that everything is right :-)

ur animation had the plumbing to the pot still back to front just before 9.30..... this thing would puke ur lowines into ur 2nd thumper and then puke from that up ur column into ur sight glasses
As a professional distiller, I really appreciate the great research and detail that you put into this outstanding animation! Really good job.

Thank you so much! It quite took plenty of time to create this animation. So it is great, that it helped you to get some answers 👍😁
amazing!! thank you, best spirit drinks production animation ever :)
Thank you so much!
High quality and very nice to watch, how awesome!
Thank you, it was quite a lot of fun to built this Carinbean setting 🤙
No other spirit comes close to a good quality rum as it is sugar and not wheat based. A wonderful brew.
Amazing explanation
This video looked interesting, but the logo right in the middle of the video got very annoying real quick.

@@OliverEnde I'm browsing the Hawaii beverage guide now, that's a surprisingly in depth resource, Cheers!

I hope that it will get some more views :-)
This is a superbly informative video
Fantastic, short, precise and sweet explanation of how rum is made. Thank you.
You are welcome , great that you like my work :-)
@OliverEnde Would you happen to know a great company to talk to about getting distilling equipment for Rum / Whiskey etc??

@OliverEnde Yeah I saw the copper Chinese ones but I'll do more research. Thanks Sir.
Incredible video! Great work!
Thank you so much Bro! See ya on the MTB weekend 🤙
The best❤ From Great Russia with love.
Большое спасибо! большой привет
I don't care for rum, but this was quite interesting, and the graphics are excellent.
thank you so much!! :-)
Excellent 👌
Thanks a lot!
Great video! will the charcoal filter remove the aroma when removing the color to cistal?
No, I don’t think so.. it only removes the color..but to be sure, I will do some research..
In this technology, distillation and rectification go in parallel or are they interchangeable processes?
you show the pipes incorrect going in and out of the thumpers .

As this is Carribbean rum so Jack Sparrow must try it.
Could you please make a video on tequila
