Got the mic 2 just over a week ago and I love it! Was debating between the mini and 2 but the 2 just worked better for my use cases and it’s been amazing!
I said it the very first day I got the mini, IT IS BETTER SOUNDING THAN THE MIC 2!! I feel that the mini sounds better indoors when the Mic 2 picks up more reverb and sounds more sibilant indoors
I'd say that if someone doesn't wants to mess around with 32 Bit float in post the Mini might be a better option as sound coming directly from the mic is warmer and a bit richer. Otherwise, the 32 bit recording gives you more leg room to play with :)
I have both. I use the mini more for short form content, and the mic 2 for more professional work. both mics does the job for what they are intended for.
Yes I regard the Mini as a wireless Lav Mic and use it for general vlogging. The Mic 2 is for more important videos with guests because of the on board 32 bit float recording for safety.
The Mic Mini has a better sound with noise cancellation on than the Mic 2 with its noise cancellation on. For a single creator, the Mic Mini with one TX for $89 USD is a good deal. I already have the Mic 2 that came with my Osmo Pocket 3. So, I have that covered as well. Great video. Excellent comparison tests.
Many thanks, this coming from someone in the film industry means a lot! I agree, DJI had some time between these two to work on the algorithms inside the Mini. I still prefer to do my noise reduction in post though.
Hi Jake ! 😃Thank you for doing this video. I just ordered a DJI Mic Mini and receiver Kit on Amazon Canada. I have the OSMO Pocket 3 Creator Combo Kit which includes a DJI Mic 2 as well. I was not overly impressed with the audio quality of the DJI Mic 2 until DJI released the latest firmware update for it. DJI clearly changed the audio EQ Curve with the latest update, and now I must say the DJI Mic 2 audio quality shot way up ! 👍I hope you have made sure you have applied the last available firmware update to both Mic models before you performed your series of tests in this video (??)
Hey Mark, that was the latest FW version for both. I think it's just a specific scenario that played a huge role here as well as progress between the two in built-in noise reduction. As with NR off in both DJI Mic 2 and DJI Mic Mini, the Mic 2 audio sounded a bit cleaner after applying voice isolation in post. I'm sure I could push the 32 Bit Float further but for this particular use case - by everyday creators, I wanted to leave it at bare basics. I'm sure you'll love the Mic Mini - such a great wee mic!
@@JakeOski The thing is I Love the DJI Mic 2, and I considered it to be a very (wee) Mic indeed. Now the Mic Mini is an extremely micro-mini Mic. I'm sure DJI will also update the Mic Mini's recording audio EQ Curve via a future firmware update, and we will be able to hear the difference.
@ it’s awesome for scenarios when you wanna go stealth without using the lav! Or, as I pointed out, it’s an absolute no-brainer for TH-cam creators at that price point :)
This (on the beach) is not a fair comparison because you are facing forwards the Mic Mini and you are facing away from the Mic 2, also the Mic 2 is under your jacket collar, so the sound if blocked and you can hear that. In order to test these Mics they both need to be next to each other and you need to be speaking toward them. I have both, they both sound great - the difference with the Mic 2 is more features than audio quality, the on board recording, 32 bit float and bear in mind the Mic Mini is much newer than the Mic 2 so will have newer technology inside.
Totally agree Simon, I’ve mentioned the placement of Mic 2 during editing. Mic 2 is an irreplaceable piece of kit for me - even for using it as a 32bit recorder for my studio boom mics… which only occurred to me recently!
Through the receiver into Canon R8 (the DJI Mini). The DJI Mic 2 is recording internally inside the transmitter. Minis are awesome, good purchase dude!
@ I had the mic 2’s but thought the mics were too large and the receiver menu was just a convoluted mess. I have several dji products including drones and their products have all been trouble free.
@@sh1209macro I personally like the full array of settings on the DJI Mic 2 but the Mini kinda does everything in-house which is epic! And totally, the size difference is remarkable, Mic 2 is a hard work with a t-shirt and you ideally have to resort to wearing a lav.

Totally, plus the Dji Mic 2 works as my on the go wireless 32bit recording device when I connect studio & shotgun mics to :)

@ I agree, but personally for me 32 bit float is not very important, so I think mini is a better choice for me, prob gonna get rid of the Mic 2 soon
Dji mic Mini sounds more open and better, thank you for the video.

Totally, I often hook my boom mics to DJI Mic 2 for that internal 32 bit recording

Great video thanks! Helped confirm my decision to get the Mic Mini 🙂
Stoked I could help! That little DJI mic has caught me by surprise 😂

Really like the mic mini, I have them both aswell. But thinking about selling one of the dji mic 2 I have.
great video man
Thanks dude, appreciate it!

Are you testing Mic 2 with or without Dead Cat
Now I see, you have dead cat on both mics!
Are these being done via Bluetooth or thru the receiver? I just bought the minis but haven’t had a chance to use them yet.

What bits of dji mic mini?
You need to rephrase that question mate :)
