If you choose the 12 hour option for the lights. Will it automatically run on and off everyday without you having to do it manually

I feel like this would be more work because the filter is in the middle of the tank... if you have to change the filter monthly, you'd have to move all the rocks and plants correct? Is this not as hard to do as imagining?

You do but its designed for people who have never had an aquarium before so it's pretty easy

@Siobhan MacDonald... I have a 60 ltr biOrb that has Driftwood and rocks with different plants attached and a few Marimo Moss balls.
You DO NOT have to move all the ceramic media rocks at all. Everyday Aquarist is mistaken, or has misinterpreted your question.
All you do is twist the air tube a small amount and lift the air tube and filter out because they are attached to each other. Then you hold the filter and give the air tube a small twist in the opposite direction to remove the filter cartridge.
The ONLY time you would have to move plants or rocks is if they were placed ON TOP of the filter. The ceramic media rock is placed around an acrylic case at the base of the biOrb and the filter cartridge fits inside the acrylic case, therefore the ceramic media rock around it is not a problem at all.
If you had an ornament that fitted over and around the air tube, you would then remove that first. It’s a very simple and effective filtration system that has gained a poor reputation that is mainly due (I believe) to people repeating (like a parrot repeats) negative comments, when the vast majority have probably never owned one.
The biOrb filtration system also makes it very cheap to maintain. To make it cheaper to maintain and not continually buy the filter cartridges, just buy a box of Zeolite and a box of activated Carbon and refill the cartridge monthly. The cartridge sponge can be cleaned and reused. BiOrbs are not designed for people who have never had an aquarium before either, lol. They were designed to be quick and easy to maintain, and also to have a modern and stylish look and to look different to other aquariums. I’ve been keeping fish for over 4 decades, and have had many different aquariums including a 6 foot coral marine aquarium, a 42 inch picture aquarium that was fixed to the wall, I’ve even had an aquarium that looked and functioned like a coffee table.

Awesome video and amazing aquarium set-up- very informative and clear! What brand/type of heater and thermometer do you recommend and prefer for Biorb aquariums since they are acrylic tanks? Can different brand heaters be used or do you have to purchase the tropical heater pack by Biorb? Please advise. Thank you.

Hi, i want to buy a biorb 30l tank but a dont understand 2 things. Can you help me please?
    1. The biorb with mcr will open the light at what hour you want and it will close it also? Or the night light will be the blue light, always on? I will stay with the tank in my room, and the bluelight always on will be a problem.
    2. How i need to do the tank cycling? I saw that they give you some bacteria starter and you can use the tank only after 24h? I think is way to fast. What is the exact process? I put the water in, i add the stuff from the pachage and then? it will be safer to wait 2 weeks? I open the light? I make 30% water change in this time? I put some food for amonia to start?
    3. It the tank noisy? The pump or air filter?
Thank you so much for your help

Hi, mine is 15 L. Thanks for the info.
I am new to fish so I want to ask you, after a week I wanted to do a 20% water change but as I was moving the ceramic media I noticed all the debris stuck underneath. So with my suction hose, I ended up removing all the water, fish included (put it in the bucket with same water) and removed EVERYTHING!
Now I have a brand new tank to start all over again! (Cycling)
My fishy was transferred to another tank that has been established .
    Question:
I know the ceramic media helps with filtering but doesn't seem enough.
Next time, should I ignore all the poop and left over food? No.
Feed my fish less? Only once a day. (1 betta)
Buy an extra filter? I think so.
    Please advise.
    Thanks😥

Watch this and follow his advice and get his media- I did and i have quite a few fish in there, it's been stable for a long time now (I do have plants and snails in it) but it's been up and running for years and have had no issues! I also do not do crazy water changes- this thing just runs itself! So with the upgrade, you have an FANTASTIC system!

Ooh found my comment lol, to be fair it did work for zoas, i had to take it down cuz like you said they are for ornaments only but its hella expensive at that, the walmart bowls are better and more functional than biorbs

  • @fisharefriends598
    @fisharefriends598 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The biororb bowls are pretty much useless ... have they upgraded the filtering system in this?? I see not.. that filter needs a serious upgrade. Easy to do. But I wish they just did it out of the box. Tank looks good, I prefer it to the bowl.

They are designed to be functional ornaments rather than serious aquariums. What they do and how they do it is fine IMO. Let's not forget that these tanks are used for breeding seahorse and raising their foals in. Don't pack them full of fish and they are perfectly good aquariums.

I mean not great for mechanical filtration, i have this before (the bowl one) when i take it down all the poop accumulated at the bottom it became a substrate lol, but it works for biological filtration
