Jake & Chris, video shows 1 year ago. I have to say you guys have moved ahead as far as equipment in the wood yard. Great video, glad to see you have better equipment to work with now. Love watching your videos. TY for sharing. Dave D from Maine.
Necessity is the mother of invention. You and Chris are doing a good job of applying ingenuity to adjust the conveyor to your needs. Have you lubricated the chain mechanism of the conveyor? Perhaps a little grease might help it run more smoothly.
Man I'm envious that you have extra hands and eyes to help on the conveyor. This will be what I need to know if I find one. Not everyone can buy brand new. Thankz for sharing.
A friend has a similar setup and he backs the trailer up with the doors open into the conveyor instead of going over the side. Hope the makes sense, then as the front of the trailer fills you move the truck forward a few feet and repeat.
Are you utilizing the slip clutch at the top left sprocket? Sometimes get rusty then breaks the chain. Loosen bolts till slips then tighten just a little
Weld 2" x 1" spreader bars to chain to move wood. Experiment to see if you can run converor from splitter hydraulic pump and fit Hydraulic couplings to splitter and conveyor hoses to steel pipes to hydraulic conveyor motor.
Yep the paddles will be angle iron and I want the conveyor to be self contained running off it’s own motor and pump which will eventually be mounted on itself
Hello Jake, you would find it much easier if you were to use a punch and drive the chainlink out where the link slides into the next link. Just a helpful hint. Add the 2” angle iron for paddles. Best of luck to you.
I've done a bunch of those links on the elevator lift inside a combine behind the header. Not fun climbing in the backend of a combine. I feel like you need more paddlesabout every 3 feet and because you're lifting firewood the paddles could be shorter maybe 1.5 inches tall.
In my experience the tool pretty much just makes the chain easier to hold plus it gives you something solid to hit against. If moving by hand, the lower u have the upper end the lighter the lower end is. My hay elevator is 30 or 36, not sure, but it moves pretty easily when lowered way down
Yeah location helps never know unless you try. I got a few resorts I live by up here in mn. I use to sell in bulk in the past so trying something different targeting campers.
Were you missing paddles should be an inch and a half by two and a half inches high inch wide angle iron that'll take your wood up and I think it'll be okay to go around the sprockets up there you don't want any wider than that connecting link where it connects on to
I don't know that you need to take the conveyor anywhere to get it modified. There's tabs there which you easily screw some 1" RHS to use as paddles. As you are running a lot longer than what you would be when loading some bales I'd consider putting some 2"x1/8" flat steel under the chains to alleviate the wear.
It’s just much easier to move the machine to my friends shop where we can work on it inside no matter the weather or time of day. I like the wear bar idea
Congrtulations on 6k 1 subscribers, Rugged made is a Good Splitter with the Conveyor, would you look at the Easton Made Ultra or 12-22 they both recycle faster then your rugged made, What are your thoughts
Thank you! The ultra doesn’t really interest me due to the fact that it doesn’t have a log lift or auto cycle. The 12-22 would be a great all-around machine. I would definitely like to have a machine with a box wedge in the future.
Maybe ditch the hydraulics and chain drive convert it to a belt and pulley system. A cheap motor from harbor freight or even an electric motor to run it. Save the wood splitter as a spare or sell it for profit.
I enjoy your channel and watch all your videos on my big screen tv, but why is the music volume so much louder than conversations. Constantly have to turn volume down and back up, till I decide to turn volume off and use cc. May just be a tv thing.
First of all, thank you very much for watching and supporting the channel Tony! And as far as the volume goes, this is something I’ve been trying to work on, I never watch the videos on the TV. However, when I edit them on my computer, I try to equalize the volume of the music as best as I can, it might just be the fact that it’s going to a TV? Everything usually sounds fine when I listen to it on my computer, both out of the speakers and with my headphones.

We sure have! I’m very lucky to have been able to continue to grow and upgrade my equipment!
so almost wonderful beautiful video friend
Wow, I just watched a Chris video where he said exactly that thing - "Focus on one thing at a time"
Yep a lot more efficient that way
Nice work boys…….
You know things are going good when the rock music kicks up in fast forward vision
Haha kicking it into high gear!

Thanks James! Yes we lubricated it with old oil when we got it, probably need to do it again!
Man I'm envious that you have extra hands and eyes to help on the conveyor. This will be what I need to know if I find one. Not everyone can buy brand new. Thankz for sharing.
Yeah it’s nice having help! It’s good for thinking of different ways to do stuff to it.
Working great guys! It’s awesome👍👍
Thanks Jeremiah!
Hello Jake and Chris, Great thinking! Glad its working out, Take Care and Stay Safe my friends 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Thanks for watching Larry!
Possible to use some stainless hose clamps instead of tie straps to hold on the rubber mat. Just an option Jake.
The zip ties are just temporary, a permanent flap will be bolted in place as part of the modifications to the hopper
Think Ive found a corn conveyor!! Needs motor. Stay Hydrated and Have a Safe Day
Nice!! How long??
@@DudeRanchDIY unfortunately she sold it before I could go get it, will keep looking. It was only 12 feet
Nice work on the conveyor, I can tell you are not finished!
Not even close

Yep I will try this at some point, right now it’s too much of a pain to move around
My conveyor has 1x3 slats bolted under the chain to keep the wear on both the chain and the platform it rides on
That’s a good idea!
Big labor saver for sure. Think you have good improvement ideas to make it better. 😉
I hope so! Looking forward to it being done!
Are you utilizing the slip clutch at the top left sprocket? Sometimes get rusty then breaks the chain. Loosen bolts till slips then tighten just a little
I’ve since sold the conveyor, not my problem anymore!

That’s a good idea! Never thought of that!
Try putting some oil on the chains. Not so much for the chain rubbing on the conveyor but for where the links pivot against each other.
Yes!! Save a quart of used motor oil for that very purpose.
Yep we put some old oil on when we first got it. Probably could use some more by now

That doesn’t sound fun at all! Yeah ideally we’d like a paddle every 24”

They make a tool to take them change apart and you can get a mat tractor supply
Hello Jake If you don't mind saying how much you paid for that one, there's a conveyor. definitely a great help I'm looking for one like that.🤞🤞
$1,500, they are not cheap around here.
These conveyors were hay/grain conveyors. That’s why the paddles are tall to move grain. It kept the farmer from buying two elevators. Peace
Cool info! Thanks William!

Yeah one of the other issues it has is with the crank gear to raise and lower it. It’s missing a few teeth so it needs to be replaces
How many cords do you sell at your roadside stand per year
Not sure as I just started it July 4th weekend this past summer. So far I’ve sold about 1.5-2 cords out of it in loose stacks and bundles.
Nice. I'm doing a roadside stand next spring so I was just curious on how much wood I should probably cut. Thanks
Nice good luck with it! I think it really depends on how much traffic you have on your road. We have a lot so it helps.
Yeah location helps never know unless you try. I got a few resorts I live by up here in mn. I use to sell in bulk in the past so trying something different targeting campers.
You can buy one at tractor supply actor supply and make a tool for that
Yeah TSC didn’t have one, this works

Yep I think this is what we are going to do once we modify it.

That’s a lot of work, trying to keep everything simple and cheap.

How are you gunna have that mangled blue vise on your bench and not address how you managed to snap the head completely off the body…
Lol I’m embarrassed of the answer to that story…
