Jimin setting himself free from the negativity and hate that plagued him for almost 9 years but had to hold back cos he was bound by the sqeaky clean good boy image and the Angel he is. When he said in one of his interviews "raw" and "explicit" Set Me Free Pt2 is it. No holding back ...this is his flow ...his time..don't give a fvck what others think or say...cos he is the rebirth of himself. ...he can be who he wants to be..like a butterfly out of the cocoon to spread his wings and live on his terms. Jimin's statements are strong and powerful but at the same pained and sad. SMF Pt2 could be a spin off LIE ( caught in a lie ) here set me free ...makes sense to me at least. I'm so proud of Jimin for being so real and so brutally honest on where he goes from here. This is NOT the BTS JIMIN.... This right here is the real Park Jimin...the Jimin we were denied of for 9 years . This is for sure SOTY ...AOTY...ARTIST OF THE YEAR. I don't care about other MV's but this here has reached an all new level... Jimin has raised the bar on this ...a league of his own...second to none .

IT was a genius move. I thought it was actually written on his body but after watching the video a million times I noticed the NEVERMIND tattoo taped and the writing over it and then at his neck you could tell it slightly wrinkled a bit. That was genius as well because getting all that off would have been a job.
This Tony Montana's side of Jimin✨ we have actually been waiting a LONG time to see him again. I actually find very intentional that he made a song like this and named it paying homage to a Yoongi's song (Set me free). On the flip side, I find Yoongi's Set me free has a very melodic, almost light and airy sound (something one would typically associate with Jimin)🤍 so in my mind the two records entered a type of 'call and response' dynamic.

I am obsessed with this song. It's literally perfection. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be this good. Jimin has struggled a lot and has dealt with a lot of hate, especially from a lot of his fans/Army who expect him and the rest of bts to stay in the cute innocent kpop bubble forever, but this version of jimin is who he was when bts first started and he's finally free to be that version again. The real him.

Yeah I think that’s more true. Jimin always showed a lot of insecurities about certain stuff. But when I read some comments how bts restricted him and now he can finally be free of that - I don’t like that at all. And I didn’t think it’s True and That That is what Jimin wants to convey.

@@Jewelrydiiva97 Notes on lyrics I saw said the song came about because of how he was feeling during covid19 & all it's restrictions on their lives, perfoming etc., the restrictions were more restrictive in Korea than here even so I'm sure it was hard on them not being allowed to have concerts and perform live and being kept far off from ARMYS and any live events.for so long.....and then yes all the other aspects of being set free, from society's b.s., from online negativity, from his own insecurities & past struggles, we can see and hear all of that coming through loud and clear here. It's a very well written & comosed song with such FIRE choreo !!

This is the real Park Jimin. Im an old army and have seen this Jimin back in 2013 to 2014 in which his persona was very dominating which slowly went away . In BTS, he had to follow or do things restricted to BTS ( actually all members) and he was being shown as vulnerable which he is not . He struggled his inner self. this song , every word in this MV means something. He is his old self here. He has unleashed himself . He will show us more of his true self now cos hes no more restricted. The 2 to 3 vocal auto tunes hes used is himself and his inner self / voices . its added an artistic value . His songs are master pieces and hes been telling us his story through lie , then promise and now he's letting us know his real deal.
I'm so happy for him . I have seen him mature really fast compared to other members . He paused himself so many times when he had an opportunity. People literally came in huge numbers to see him and then started liking the group . He had that aura back then and now as well.

Jimin's literally admitted to having struggled with trying to project hyper-masculinity in his persona in the early years of his career. A man can be vulnerable while being strong. Even when he released his photobook, he took his concepts with one showing off his 'cool' side and the other with him showing off his freedom dressed up in stereotypically feminine colors trying to show a 'youthful, unrefined boy' as I think he said. Real people are three-dimensional, seldom is it so that they just *don't* have a certain common state of being. Vulnerability in front of the camera is risky but Jimin's done that in the past, he's learned from it, he's open about his career but he's secretive about posting anything from inside his house. Do we call that open or not open? Exactly. Vulnerability is a quality in self-expression, it depends on how safe you find yourself saying something in an atmosphere. I'd say Jimin is plenty open with the ones he cares about from what all his friends say about him. He's a strong, ambitious man and he's worlds more refined than he used to be. I'm honestly kind of sick of this narrative of people just fully dropping their entire personality because some big, scary company said so when BTS have carried the same personalities, just more mature, into adulthood.
That being said, I do believe he feels more free to express himself today as compared to a few years ago and I love that.

I think all ARMYs were taken by surprise with this new version of Jiimin, but I believe that's how it has to be with an artist isn't it, they've been on the road for 10 years and amen, how they've grown, evolved and always to better, let's give it up for our boys, they still have a lot to give us, I believe in them, always, they are our salvation in the midst of so many sickening songs (for me). Sure is a shape of a caterpillar. Jimin was in this BTS cocoon (certain policy restrictions) for so long and now he's a butterfly (the adult/grown-up/mature stage of a butterfly life cycle). Set Me Free pt.2 is a clever music production. Suits Jimin so much 💜
I don’t think this is about a bts cocoon. Cause that would give bts such a negative shadow. Jimin could’ve dropped dark stuff too when in BTS. Yoongi did it all the time. RM too. I think going solo actually scares the shit out of him. It’s wasn’t like he was held back from anyone to drop music. But Jimin now had to reflect and think about stuff. What kind of music does he want to show us etc.

@@jesss757 that makes a lot of sense. I think at one point after performing “Lie” Jimin said that it was one of the hardest things he’s ever done. Solo work definitely has to be really challenging for him and probs doesn’t come as easy for him as it does for the other members.

None one realized the angst Jimin has had... for years. This shocked me in the way it made me realize all the pain he's had to endure... working, working, working. Being videoed and photographed all the time. Hardly any privacy and all the criticism he had to endure.

I think Jimin is the most artistic performer in BTS.. always have. His talents are broader. His vocals are uniquely his... never heard anyone with a tone of voice like his. He wanted a big statement so he got one. The auto=tune on this is done properly... used to enhance.. not cover... he is able to interpret through dance the dynamics of this sound.... the icing is he is a really handsome and humble guy....I'm a vintage BTS fan lol and i love this performance!

The thing is with the BTS members, they are so genuine. It’s not like they are completely different people now or anything. They have grown up and want to explore different types of music etc and they are no doubt more confident in doing that now, although I did read that Jimin was really nervous about the release of the song 🥺💜
RM and Suga have some bad ass songs with full on explicit language (which I bloody love btw) but nowadays, for example, RM has mellowed a lot. He doesn’t seem as angry as he was. Not angry as a person, but I mean he isn’t directing everything at the haters and all the people who dissed them etc as much. He still has some digs at them but more toned down. Whereas J-Hope and Jimin have both always been seen as the more innocent ones. Not anymore 😂 they are showing what they are capable of and trying new things.. But I believe, they are ALL still the same in a lot of ways. They are gorgeous, extremely hard working, multi talented guys with the most incredibly humble and unique personalities. They are beautiful people and that won’t ever change.

I love Jimin's music. Throughout most of his solos, there's an underlying message of growth, development, rebirth, and renewal. Every song manages to send that message while also encapsulating that theme in the form of new styles. Think Lie to Serendipity to Filter to this. Each song has a different vibe. The message and beat in this song were both powerful, his near countertenor vocals were insane, as always, and the dance was so artfully done. It was a beautiful combination of his contemporary roots with his more pop and hip-hop styles of his professional career. So proud of him, and SO excited for the rest of that album!

You were correct about Suga, that is why this is Part 2. Loving that they are already showing things not allowed before (tattoos, bare chests, cussing). Theres been glimpses of this jimin through the years... Sassy jimin... And its been mentioned that he can be one if the scariest members when angry... He is just very versatile and has the ability to change expression, demeanour, style, etc to match the character he needs or wants to show/play. Like in a second go from baby mochi to savage beast... Good that he can show that off a bit... The production and choreo is so goood as well. Love this. Cant wait for what's next...
