- At long last I have had time to get out and film a “proper” Percy’s Progress video. The little dog is 18 months old now and is progressing really well and over the past few weeks I have been working on sharpening up his stop whistle. Please subscribe for more gundog training and shooting videos...
Really good videos nice to see a dog handler actually showing the process of achieving theses commands . Rather than talking in riddles and not giving nothing away as a first time spaniel owner this will help us in the future . Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Nice video, very helpful for someone like myself trying to move on from a dog with a good recall to the whistle to introducing a stop whistle for the dog.
Great video nick it’s so good to see him not being rushed. So many people rush the training and become stuck because the building blocks are out of sequence 👍
Thanks Paul....he is full of life and I just feel he needs time to mature, my plan is to get him ready for next season 🤞Cheers Nick
Thanks, working on improving my cockers stop. Really good to see people's different ideas...
No problem 👍
Nice one Nick I will try that myself
Hope it helps...cheers Nick
@@Pettycordgundogs going to try it out tomorrow mate
So a short sharp whistle means "stop" while a couple or 3 rapid-fire whistles means "get out" or "hunt"...correct? how do you get the dog to learn the difference? is that on a previous video?
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment. You are right that the single blast means stop / sit however, I use the rapid pips as a recall and two pips as a turn whistle when he is hunting. The earlier videos cover how I introduce those commands when I was using the placeboard. Cheers Nick
