OMG, I must have looked at 50 videos, before I came across this video. Although my husband has a Sachs Dolmar 111 your inexpensive invention work like a charm. Thank you, your my hero!
I appreciate this video. However, the 1 x 3/8 hex bushing is very difficult to find. Also, the 3/8 hole in that fitting is npt and I have not been able to find a bolt with the npt. So is will be necessary to tap the 1x3/8 hole to fit a 5/8 bolt with 11 threads. Note that because of the weird way pipe fittings are named, the 3/8 " hole requires a 5/8 " bolt and the threads have to be altered.
I Can confirm this method works on Jonsered 2050, so it also probably works on Husqvarna 45,49 and Jonsered 2045. The threads fit a little loosely on the gear. and you may need to grind/file the edges of your pipe fitting so it doesnt interfere with the plastic case. I recommend making it out of steel parts like the video, although I used what I had on hand: a brass 1/2-3/4 reducer and a 3/4 threaded brass plug which I drilled out to fit the end of the crankshaft.
Have you ever had a repair with a Poulan 4620AVX same drive type but different O.D. Then how to put back on and where to position as there is not a shouldered stop.
Ok, been looking to see if I can find that 1"x3/8" fitting... I cannot find such a fitting online. The ones I've seen are FNPT 3/8" fittings... which matches 3/8" fine thread somehow? That piece is a fantastic find, but I'm just not seeing it online....anywhere. link? the other pieces here are common, but that bushing is quite a find
I will check for you. We bought at Ace hardware. I'll see if there is a part number on the receipt. I think the 3/8 is not critical. It will just need to match the bolt that you use.
but thats exactly the problem... pipe thread is different than regular bolt thread. ... I've looked at ace hardwares site and that part isn't listed.... so I'm curious
and 3/8" npt ... its not equivalent to 3/8" bolt... so ... it looks like maybe a 1/2" or larger bolt size... which would be exceptionally lucky and interesting that such things fit... but like you said, the bolt size isn't critical, that reducing bushing is critical.
HLSupply sweet!...I was in lowes yesterday and forgot to check...I gotta see if I can find such a thing...myself. ..will be nice to have it to see if I can duplicate this....very nice
Ok, This is what I did to remove the worm gear on my Poulan pp4620avhd. The parts used to make my puller are: qty =1, 3/8"x1/4" galv bushing, qty = 2, 1"x3/8" galv coupling qty = 1, 1"x3/8" steel pipe nipple, and qty = 1, m12-1.75x60mm metric zinc bolt all purchased at HomeDepot. I did have to clean out the excess casting at the end of the 3/8"x1/4" galv bushing and then ran a tap throw it to clean up the threads. If you don't have a ball bearing you can use a bb. Total cost = $13.64 plus tax

what is the thread pitch on the 3/8 bolt?
Now put it back in the right spot! Great job!

Why did husky make this such a nightmare

that 3/8" fitting is the crux of the whole works... what thread is that? and obviously you need a bolt to fit? 3/8" fine thread?
It was a fine thread. I have to check the size.
@@HLSupply update?
What size bolt is that I couldn't find one at the hardware store that would fit
First bushing vocal you said 3/4 by 1/2 but the subtitle says 3/4 by 1 inch.
Excellent rebuilding a rancher 55 you save me some money ,,,, !”!

How do you put one on?
What size bolt is needed?
That's the kind of tools I like, cheaper than buying the high dollar tool for a one or two use.

Once I have removed the worm gear...how do I then install a new worm gear? I believe it is pressed on.

Cant you just use the same puller but in reverse order
How did you get the bolt with SAE thread to turn into 3/8 pipe thread?
Awesome tip thanks for the video
