I'm a Bama fan but a huge fan of Mark RIcht. This was an incredible game, and Georgia's 2002 team was a special team. Bama and Georgia should play more, but thanks to the ridiculous knee-jerk decision to expand, the 2012 game was cancelled.
They would've played for the SEC championship had they not been on probation. They also shut out LSU (coached by Saban) 31-0. Hardly what I'd consider "suck".

Alabama was a top ranked quality team in 2002, they finished 10-3 and we gave them one of their only losses of the '02 season, 27-25 in TUSCALOOSA was a huge win, teams rarely win up there and it was the first time that Georgia defeated Alabama in Tuscaloosa. 2002 was a historical year for Georgia. Winning a home battle against CLEM & TENN. Escaping Columbia, SC with David Pollack's defensive touchdown and last second fumble. The 4th down play at Auburn which punched our ticket to Atlanta, etc.
Ridiculous that Bama got punished for the actions of a prior coach. If they had gotten to rematch in the SEC-CG at Atlanta, I think maybe that might buy Franchione some goodwill and he lasts another few years. Would have liked to see what he does with the '05 team instead of Mike Shula.
Before 1958, the game was played in Tuscaloosa only once, after that it was alternated between Athens/Tuscaloosa/Birmingham. After 1958, the game was only played in Tuscaloosa 7 times prior to this game..
I wish Georgia played in Tuscaloosa this year, but thank God Georgia and Alabama got to play in the SEC championship this year, that payed off. Instead of pushing Georgia @ Missouri replaced South Carolina in the opener. The way South Carolina played Vanderbilt this year would've been a perfect time to play South Carolina in Columbia instead of Ocotber 6th, they had more time to prepare. I like Texas A&M in the SEC but Missouri hasn't been a contender this year.
SEC championship year!!!beat the Hogs in Atlanta then went on to beat FSU in the Sugar Bowl to end the season 13-1!!Ohh we would have beat Florida that year also but Terrence Edwards DROPPED A CRUCIAL PASS!!That my fellow Dawg Fans killed our chance to play in the National Championship!That year!!Still was a magical year!!! GOOO DAWGS!!!

julio is the only one remotely successful. jpw got cut by the Falcons, McElroy can't even start for the Jets, Mark Ingram has been a bust in New Orleans, and Trent Richardson only gets touches because he's on the Browns
