    Home made face exfoliant: one cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup olive oil or coconut oil!
    Works like a charm 👌🏽 Feel free to add essential oils as well, or even honey ☺

    I agree with using oils at night on your face even if your skin type is already oily. It sounds crazy, but basically when you strip the oils from your face, your skin is thirsty af and starts producing excessive oil that ruins ur makeup. Jojoba and Rose oils hydrate your skin and keep your oil production at a normal level. I stopped using neutrogena exfoliating scrubs and my skin has never looked more radiant. My scaring has also decreased from the oils I use nightly. Just thought I'd share. 💕

    I cannot believe it. I changed my foundation routine based on the advice from this video and holy moly my makeup goes on much smoother and last about 50% longer. I didn't know I had to wait to let products sink in. I just put everything on one after another. The waiting and not rubbing really helps. And for the people with their photoshop comment: you can be salty all you want, but you're missing out on some good info.

    This is very helpful. To be honest this was relevant to me today. I've been liking how Smashbox Photo Finish Primer goes with my Estée Lauder Double Wear Max coverage foundation, but today I tried to use argan oil prior to priming to moisturize. My makeup didn't last at all. I'm so happy you've taught me something new because I never know when to use setting spray first or powder. Hopefully now that I also bought some toner and moisturizer it'll help because my main concerns are acne scars. The foundation cakes around the acne scars and I hate that.

      @nikkiajoy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    • @kamaropayne5226
      @kamaropayne5226 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Honey Bunny Actually, dermatologists don’t recommend exfoliation at all, beyond washing with a textured wash cloth. It actually slightly damages the top layer of your skin, and many ingredients in skin care items are natural exfoliants; like retinol, glycolic and alpha hydroxy acids.

    I tried this a few weeks ago because my face was like that picture: oily and cakey! So those picking on the picture criticising as photoshoped (and it probably is meant to be an example!), the pain is real. So I followed each step 100%. Once I started applying primer with a damp sponge it made such a big difference just as much as the other tips.. I have been doing every step ever since. It does work for me and it makes my not so great foundation look so nice and last so much longer without being a greasy cakey mess!!!!

And get something with coffee or fine sand instead like derma e or sukin, etc.

      Dany I highly relate! I just use tons of extremely hydrating masks an peel off masks that will remove the dead skin. And I use exfoliating scrubs often! So hydration and exfoliation is key! Dont forget to use a water based moisturizer because that is what will help your skin the most, and brands that have silicone or other different bases for their moisturizer dont usually soak into the skin, but kind of just sit and dry down onto the skin. Hope that helped! :)

      I use small amounts of antibiotic cream in spots where I start to break out. Admittedly I don’t have a major problem with it, but it does seem to help keep in from getting worse. It has to be the cream type that’s a lotion and not the greasy petroleum type though. I use Walgreens “Multi-Antibiotic With Pain Relief Cream”. I don’t know if it would help; but since it’s handy to have around the house anyways, it couldn’t hurt to try. Just rub a small amount into affected areas before moisturizing. I hope that’s of benefit to you.

    I find it too that it is always good to give breathing time between your skin care applications and makeup. I also give a few minutes for my Primer to sink in before foundation. After setting my foundation, I also give it another few minutes before I actually put anything else. Giving time in between these applications really does help.

    So far, this has been the most helpful video I have come across (out of about 15). She is full of pointers the whole way through for various problems one can encounter with wearing foundation. She walks through the steps and addresses potential problems as they are likely to occur in the process of applying foundation. I appreciate her addressing problems for varieties of skin types, not just her own. I have very dry skin and recently discovered that applying oil a few times before applying foundation is very effective in combatting cakiness. She offered this remedy early on and elaborated on the best oil to use, when to use it, and what it will achieve. THANK YOU:)

      Tosha P I had really bad hormonal acne on my chin and I researched like months and found something that worked . I use thoroughly clean face wash by desert essence which is online or vitamin shoppe..this has been the best face wash ever and I tried way too many. Since it's hormones I took d.i.m it's a supplement and does many things but you should obviously research it and see if it's something you could take .another supplement for hormone acne is vitex and I didn't take it everyday only a few times a week and borage oil. Borage oil is amazing ! I don't take the d.i.m or vitex since I don't need it anymore but I take the borage oil and you can even use it on your face. I break the capsule and use it at night . It really helpled and took my acne away in a month and it was bad like I didn't want to leave my house bad. Hope something helps! ☺️

      I struggle with the same kind of problems, I mostly use Kiehl's products, their calendula gel cleanser and calendula toner (both formulated for sensitive skin and without any alcohol), their hydroplumping serum to hydrate and their cilantro and rare earth masks (once a week). For actual moisturizer, the only thing that has worked for me and has helped with my rosacea (broken capillaries, texture, redness) has been the gel cream by La Mer. For sun protection/primer I use the hourglass veil mineral primer (works wonders and makes your makeup waterproof). Hope this helps.

    • @zixiais

      deewani samiya not sure if most people already know this but a setting & fixing sprays are 2 different sprays - a setting sprays melts ur makeup layers into 1 layer, and makes that layer last, while a fixing spray freezes ur makeup (or so to speak) so it doesnr move

    • @madkat541
      @madkat541 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      when choosing primers or setting sprays you do have to take in account what type of skin you have, and what type of setting spray you use. Personally, I have super oily/red skin so I avoid ones that give more shine to my face, and settle for ones that are cooling+non-illuminating.

  • @sunneer
    @sunneer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +442

    Your thumbnail 😔 it's photoshopped click bait. It's the exact same photo with misleading "air brushing". thought you were better than that, so disappointed.

    • @leslie8633
      @leslie8633 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      sunneer the video isn't about the thumbnail, it's about how not to get cakey foundation

    • @nikkiajoy
      @nikkiajoy  8 ปีที่แล้ว +73

      +sunneer Ok we need to talk about some things. Firstly - click bait refers to something that does not accurately reflect the content you are watching. Therefore the thumbnail is not 'click bait'. Secondly - it's actually the photo on the left that has had the sharpness/clarity turned up so that you see the texture in the skin. Thirdly - your comment that you are 'so disappointed in me' for adding amusing dramatisation to a photo to benefit my audience and you 'thought I was better than that' - that's a little over the top and a funny photo on the internet is not in any way a representation of who I am as a person. Have a great day!

    • @sunneer
      @sunneer 8 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Nikkia Joy - I agree that your definition of click bait is one form but I also think it can include a wide variety of intentionally misleading photos, tag lines etc. that over exaggerates. The fact that your before and after pics are photoshopped defeats the entire purpose of a before and after. I would guess that the majority of viewers thought the before was an actual, unaltered picture of your skin. I do appreciate your honesty in saying you altered the before photo though.
