This album struck me very hard at the start of the pandemic. I lost my job and split with my girlfriend. Many many lonely nights and days listening to tracy and ben resonate with my circumstances. Thank you for those comforts

Bought this for $0.50 with a bunch of other mid 90's electronic CDs at a 2nd hand store. After listening to the obvious world hit that is the techno remix of"Missing" that I remembered so fondly, I swapped it out for some other techno stuff. Came back to it tonight for a proper try at the whole album. During the first two songs, I was just continuously floored with emotions: haven't heard an album this jam packed full of hits containing nothing except good writing and solid flow since the second Savage Garden album. Finding out the two members eventually got married makes these songs hold even more meaning. I'll listen to the rest on the way to work tomorrow; they now have a new fan. :D

EBTG is insanely talented and one of the most incredibly underrated bands of all time. Their artistry has spanned across so many different genres of music that hardly any other artists have been able to do - jazz, folk, alternative, all the way to house and electronic. Of all their creations, I personally think Amplified Heart is their greatest work. One of the small handful of albums that I can listen to from start to finish and absolutely love every single song on it. I have a vinyl copy of AH framed on my living room wall because it has been one of the most influential albums that has shaped my life and how I listen to music. It's mildly sad that the album's songs have so few views on YT in the sense that I feel sorry that more people haven't discovered and experienced the same emotional spellunking and the satisfaction I received from all those hundreds and hundreds of hours of listening to Amplified Heart.

"Amplified Heart" instantly became one of my favorite albums when I first heard it, and is still one of my all-time top ten albums, across all genres. I bought the "Amplified Heart" CD (remember those?) at an actual record store (remember those?) on a whim when it was released in the US back in 1994. I had heard their earlier hit, "Driving", on a local jazz radio station, but otherwise knew nothing about EBTG. I certainly was not disappointed in "Amplified Heart"! I went on to buy many more EBTG CDs and I have never been disappointed in any of their music. Ben's lyrics are genius and are poetry in every sense of the word. Their songs remind me of rainy, overcast autumns and winters. Maybe because I used to buy and listen to their albums those times. Or because of their nice mysterious sound. That's why I feel confounded seeing a sunny day in their clips.
O primeiro CD que eu comprei na vida foi o Amplified Heart em 1996 quando eu tinha 17 anos, tenho até hoje o CD. Rollercoaster sempre foi minha preferida.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL - AMPLIFIED HEART Everything but the Girl are an English musical duo formed in Kingston upon Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer, songwriter, composer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, producer and singer Ben Watt. The group's early works have been categorized as sophisti-pop with jazz influences before undergoing an electronic turn following the worldwide success of the 1994 hit single "Missing". The duo have achieved four top 10 and 12 top 40 singles in the UK and have received eight gold and two platinum album BPI certifications in the UK as well as one gold album RIAA certification in the US. Their cover of "I Don't Want to Talk About It" reached No. 3 on the UK Singles Chart in 1988, a feat later matched by "Missing", which charted high in several countries and reached No. 2 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in 1995 and spent over seven months on the UK Singles Chart thanks to a popular remix by Todd Terry which led to a Brit Award nomination for Best British Single. Their ninth album Walking Wounded (1996) set a new career best by entering the UK albums chart at No. four, and spawned the top 10 singles "Walking Wounded" and "Wrong". The band went inactive in 2000, with Thorn declaring that she would no longer perform live. Thorn and Watt, who did not publicise their romantic relationship while active, married in 2009, both released solo albums and said it was unlikely Everything but the Girl would be active again. However, in November 2022, Thorn announced an album had been recorded for release in the second quarter of 2023. Fuse, the band's first new material in 24 years, was released on 21 April 2023. The discography of Everything but the Girl consists of eleven studio albums, eight compilation albums, five extended plays, thirty-one singles, and one video album. The band formed in Hull during 1982, consisting of lead singer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, and singer Ben Watt. ♥️💯‼️And I have the great honor of having in my discography eight CD-albums by Everything But The Girl (or EBTG). Because I have three duplicate CD-albums and the other two CD-albums are just one copy of each. So, I have in my discography AMPLIFIED HEART (1994) two copies of this CD-Album. I also have two copies of the CD-Album WALKING WOUNDED (1996). I still have a single copy of the CD-Album, which is a greatest hits, THE BEST OF EBTG (1996). Also a single unit, also on CD-Album, from TEMPERAMENTAL (1999). And, finally, the most recent record work, released on April 21st of this year, the CD-Album, FUSE. Also two copies. Altogether there are eight CD-albums by Everything But The Girl as I mentioned at the beginning of this comment. Honestly, I've loved this duo since I heard the radio version of "I Don't Want To Talk About It". And, in the mid-nineties, when Todd Terry remixed "Missing", it was a huge commercial success worldwide. On their latest studio album, FUSE (2023), the British duo is to be congratulated for the excellent work. It took them a long time to come back, but the new CD-Album was worth the wait. It's very well done. I love the ten songs! It's worth having an album, in my case, in CD format! I know all the previous works of the EBTG. But after "Missing" and AMPLIFIED HEART, Ben Watt and Tracey Thorn became huge international stars! I simply adore them! ♥️💯‼️ Amplified Heart is the eighth studio album by British musical duo Everything but the Girl. It was released on 13 June 1994[10] by Blanco y Negro Records in the U.K. and on 19 July 1994 by Atlantic Records in the United States and Canada. The album was recorded and mixed in London from winter 1993 to 1994. Primarily an acoustic-driven set, Amplified Heart brought Everything but the Girl to mainstream audiences via the dance remix of the song "Missing". Ultimately peaking at number 2 on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart in early 1996, "Missing" spent more than a year gaining airplay and exposing Everything but the Girl to US and worldwide audiences, leading Amplified Heart to sell upwards of 232,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. It went on to sell over 1,000,000 copies worldwide. Amplified Heart was reissued in 2012 by Edsel Records as a two-disc deluxe set. A 25th anniversary pressing of the album on vinyl was released in 2019. The Todd Terry club mix of "Missing" is not on the vinyl and it was added on to later pressings of the CD as a bonus track. I remember when I first heard this song. I was at Kemp Mill records on L st in Washington DC after work. Missing was the rage and I decided to listen to the album at a listening station. Rollercoaster came on and I that was it for me. I bought the album and became a fan. I had heard Driving before on Black radio but never associated it with Everything But The Girl. I consider Rollercoaster my entry point into ETBG. I love those serendipitous discovery moments with music.
Her voice goes right through me! This album is an absolute work of art from front to back. Am so glad they are ba k and making music again. I've missed them. Can't tell you how many friends I've given this album to because they were fans of Missing. Then they hear the entire thing and they are hooked!
One of EBTG's most beautiful tracks. 😍🤩😍 Have to thank my older brother who followed them from their LP Eden, and used to play their music all the time. Brings back sweet memories of growing up as a teenager 😊😊😊
“I still haven’t gotten over…” this song. One of their best ! And that’s no easy task to quantify. From Deserts miss the rain, to Wounded, Driving, …need I go on? Their brilliance rings through with each lyric and rhythmic chord change. Captivatingly Sublime. Any which way from Monday,, EBTG will always be Everything to me.

[Verse 1]
I still haven't got over it even now
I want to spend huge amounts of time on my own
I don't want to cause any serious damage
I want to make sure that I can manage
[Refrain]
Because I'm not really in your head
I'm not really in your head
[Chorus]
And I see love and disaffection
And the clouds build up and won't pass over
This is my road to my redemption
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
[Verse 2]
I still haven't got over it even now
I want to spend huge amounts of time in my room
And I'm not coming out until I feel I'm ready
I'm not running out while my heart's unsteady
[Refrain]
And I'm not really in your head
I'm not really in your head
[Chorus]
When your sky falls to minus zero
Well some things must disappear
Oh this is my road to my redemption
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
And the names may have been changed but the faces are the same
And the names may have been changed but as people we're not the same
[Refrain]
And I'm not, no I'm not, no I'm not
Really in your head
[Outro]
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway

Ela tem uma das melhores vozes da música. Perfeita, adoro EBTG.
This song is perfect.
Mid 2022 & STILL just as perfect!!!
Boa escolha.
sky falls to minus zero. Brilliant
I love you Tracey & Ben, God bless

LYRICS:
I still haven't got over it even now
I want to spend huge amounts of time on my own
I don't want to cause any serious damage
I want to make sure that I can manage
Because I'm not really in your head
I'm not really in your head
And I see love and disaffection
And the clouds build up and won't pass over
This is my road to my redemption
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
I still haven't got over it even now
I want to spend huge amounds of time in my room
And I'm not coming out until I feel ready,
Not running out for a while my heart's unsteady
And I'm not really in your head
I'm not really in your head
When you sky falls to minus zero
Well some things must dissappear
Oh this is my road to my redemption
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
The names may have been changed but the faces are the same
The names may have been changed but as people we're not the same
And I'm not, no I'm not, no I'm not
Really in your head
And my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
Yeah, my life is just an image of a rollercoaster anyway
Elegance in the form of music
So People talk a lot about regrets...I will not regret that EBTG has broadened/brightened my life since Eden back in the mid 80's and ever since
So 90s... What a great years... What a great music. I miss that times so much...
EBTG FOREVER!!!
Already listened to this song couple of 100 times, first time ever I see the clip!
Just keep coming back to this song … just love this song!
How could I ever thank you both for so much you have done accompanying me through out with such art? I wish you could see! Thanks a million! Cheers, guys!!!! Still here, I will always do!
En un aterdecer escuchando esta musica con una copa de vino
I agree ... with whatever you said!!
One of their best ever! Were the cocktail lounge scenes shot at The Supper Club in NYC? That's where I saw them live in the early 90s. Will never forget it!
Sunday evening, november 2018, drinking wine, killing time and this song still makes sense...
invite jejejejeje
My feelings also. When I'm alone, I like to listen to 'Rollercoaster'.

EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL - AMPLIFIED HEART
Everything but the Girl are an English musical duo formed in Kingston upon Hull in 1982, consisting of lead singer, songwriter, composer and occasional guitarist Tracey Thorn and guitarist, keyboardist, producer and singer Ben Watt. ♥️💯‼️
Amplified Heart is the eighth studio album by British musical duo Everything but the Girl. Album AMPLIFIED HEART (1994)
I love the restraint of the music that allows Tracey's
emotions to pour out through her vocals! 💕
Love this , cannot recall how many “ love this” i commented with their songs
Her voice goes right through me! This album is an absolute work of art from front to back. Am so glad they are ba k and making music again. I've missed them.
Can't tell you how many friends I've given this album to because they were fans of Missing. Then they hear the entire thing and they are hooked!
One of EBTG's most beautiful tracks. 😍🤩😍
Have to thank my older brother who followed them from their LP Eden, and used to play their music all the time.
Brings back sweet memories of growing up as a teenager 😊😊😊
Oooh, that silver belt!
One of my favorite albums by the artists. Amazing.😊
May they never go away.
I talk to you in your coma, told you your father needed you to pull threw. We need you for SCOTLAND! NEVER GIVE UP YOUR FAITH NOR SOUL! You will always be a thorn in my side. Tracy, do what has to be done, til I can be a king like author. Heath❤️
I've heard this song a million times, but for some reason recently, it's been playing non-stop in my head. It's just matching my vibe right now.
I am loving the city skyline…Haven’t heard this song since it first came out and I was broke and living in NYC, but back then u could live like this, in a loft with roomies!
Have this album in my car stereo right now. :) Waving in The Bahamas!
For some reason she reminds me of Sade. Both of these ladies have beautiful voices.
Love this song, and album, IMO this is when Tracey and Ben looked the coolest too, always loved their work and now their books as well
This triggers the deepest and hardest feelings. Everytime I have to cry
