Important to note that Mr. Blobby was designed to be a parody of a traditional children's show costumed character, hence his rather grotesque appearance. Kids still seemed to love him anyway (or they were terrified). He was really supposed to be a big joke, but he sort of ended up becoming what he was parodying.
I wish other nations could do something like this yuru kyara thing Including the United States Like San Francisco could have many mascots like the Golden Gate Bridge 🌉 or the rotunda at the palace of arts
Great video, Ive never heard anyone make the connection to Shinto or talk about the lack of high/low art distinction before. One thing that I still wonder about though is the role mascots play for certain institutions. Mascots for locations, public services, and media companies make sense to me, like Western mascots (which are mainly for sports and foods) it makes sense for them to have a fun, friendly, celebratory tone to them. These are things that, in one way or another, are supposed to make you feel happy. When the same sort of mascot is applied to things like prisons and military though, I can't quite shake the tonal dissonance. Are the mascots meant to make a statement about how the prison or military is going to change in some way to match the happy nature of the mascot, or is it meant purely to sway public opinion and distract from the darker natures of these things? Or am I just thinking entirely too much about these things? Largely I kind of love Japanese mascots but in some instances I can't help but get the same feeling about them as I do with corporate Twitter.
Just found this channel recently, amazing quality and editing! I won't be surprised if this channel takes off like Kurzgesagt or Vox. I really love these types of videos on niche cultural differences, maybe do some on European countries?
Don't mind me, just making a historical marker. Double Yolk has about 1.2K subs today, April 10, 2019. You make some high quality videos, dude. I look forward to watching your channel blow up!

Ralphie Raccoon that’s a great point! I should have included that.
I think Don't Hug Me I'm Scared executed the kid show parody way better.
Great editing! This video was really easy to follow. And it's on a topic I haven't heard much about.
I sure hope your channel grows
Prison mascots? Didnt expect something like that to exist.
Long time no see! More vids coming hopefully - stay tuned!
Looking forward to it. I see a lot of potential in this channel.
I like the idea behind the mascots :3
Another great video bud. Please keep uploading
Another really interesting, well put-together video. Keep up this level and I can see this channel being huge.

2:57 Dude, whoever you have on graphics is killing it. I just wanted to watch that transition over and over. subbed and notified, keep uploading!
wow the effort that went into making this is astounding. Great video!
I remember the Mascot Drummer.
Great video! You've made a small mistake at 2:32: 1bn Yen is about $US 9MM, not $US 900k.
Mr. Blobby is a bad example of something not to be dismissed as simply being quirky or ridiculous.
This was a great video! Wonderful editing!
What a well produced video on such an interesting subject

Unexpected prime number theorem lmao
If you stand up and look at your monitor from there, Namakoro looks blue
This is extremely racist. I have already contacted the proper authorities. Sincerely, a highly respected Redditor.
