Flying on Exotic Antonov Props - An-22, An-28, An-38 and An-140

  • Antonov have made over 22,000 airplanes, which are distributed throughout the world. Apart from the world’s strongest and biggest An-225 Mriya, An-124 Ruslan and An-22 Antei, Antonov have also made over 18,000 propeller airplanes. Many of them are still actively flying, include some of the less well-known models.
I have flown the Antonov An-28, An-38 and An-140. These planes are very rare, in the case of An-38 and An-140 there is just one active flying sample in passenger airline service.
Both An-28 and An-38 are STOL (short take-off and landing) aircraft with impressive short field performance. I travelled on an An-38 from Polyarny, Udachy to Mirny in Siberia with Alrosa Airlines. Then I flew on an An-28 with Siberia Light Aviation (SILA) from Irkutsk to Zheleznogorsk - Ilimsky. My An-140 flight was from Zaporizhzhia, Ukraine to Minsk in Belarus. Each of these journeys was unique, with the distinct sound of prop engines. Watch the video to see these unique flying samples of Antonovs.

I've flown these rare planes back in 2017 and 2018 actually. The An-38 and An-140 was the only active airframe in commercial airline service. I knew it is tough in lockdown so I decide to continue to make flying adventure video for the aviation like minded viewers out here to enjoy.
Next week, I will be showing a new content about 4 ex-airline staff who lost their job but they didn't give up. They had the courage to take a stand and pursue their passion in their new business.

Hello Sam. I have been watching your videos since awhile. But recently (second time) you repeatedly show the Antonov turboprop landing in unpaved runway and you always says "look at how this plane land in Africa"
It's like there's no paved runway in Africa.
      Please stop.
We have big airport like other countries do.

The AN-22 is my favorite Antonov as well. It’s such a beautiful aircraft in a very unique way. It truly reminds you what aviation used to be. The muscle, the massive flight crew and the raw power. Of course the vintage green cockpit it also a bonus 😆

This is a request if dont mind you've flown i think almost all airline companies my suggestion is have you ever experience during your flight that something went wrong or there are some technical issues on the aircraft..how the crew dealt with it or manage the issue, are they ready or trained well to a different kind of situation, and include your assestment on your video how ready they are. I'm sure it is a very interesting to look for to include on your upcoming review. Thanks and More Power👍👍👍

Hey Sam... big hello to you from Barbados.
I remember seeing Castros IL62s when he was here for a conference. I also flew IL62s from Barbados to Shannon Ireland.

Way back when I worked in Dubai I drove to RAK and there was an old Antonov parked by the side of the down heard RAK. I recently checked on Google Street view and it's still there. Again when I worked in Dubai there was always a few Antonovs at the far side of the airport. Really interesting and adventurist video

This is a nice compilation but I have one reservation about it. Sam, Africa is a continent and not a singular country. It's proper to be exact/specific. Like the AN-22 landed in Rwanda or Angola... Thanks
