Hi from Tropical Cairns Australia. I purchased a 2018 Mercedes C200 white 2 door coupe with 2.0 L and 9 speed box 1 year ago, It had just 17,000kms (10560 miles) now 23,000 kms, it has every option, sun roof, AMG sport package and wheels, Birmister audio and Apple Carplay, It was a one owner, as new with service warranty. This car new here (with extras) about AU$80K, I paid AU$60K, We are seniors no interest in speed, and limit here is city subs 60 KPH (38MPH), highways 100 KPH, So all the speed we need. Found the car to be perfect for 2 with an occasional extra passenger in rear seat, and best to enter rear forward and out of car backwards, Its a great drive up the winding ocean road (an hour from Cairns) past the beaches to Port Douglas and Palm Cove. Had a few thumbs up at the lights and even a parking inspector said it was one the nicest cars he had seen!. Not had one problem with the car as yet so happy as!.
I had an SLK with every last one of the issues you named and before you even said it, i had a similar thought as you…”I can drive an Altima that doesnt rattle and be fine,i paid to much to deal with such an annoying issue” …glad im not alone in that lol. Ppl really dont get how wracking that sound is.
I’ve seen them for around 22k on auto trader, for that price for a luxurious car like this it can’t be beat. You can buy a new corolla or you could get this! (Although cost of ownership is definitely higher with the Mercedes)
I have a 2017 model and it has been essentially trouble free. The car has 35,000 miles. I just got new front tires for $666. What ever you do, don't go to the dealer for routine maintenance. MB charges an arm and a leg to change the oil. They decided to make their money from service, not sales.
Keep your Car dude, this is one of the best choice you have tô keep driving During the hollydays. I own a c180 in Brazil and just love the car. Dont Think I could find something in BMW or Audi that matches the c class
i have a 2018 C300 Coupe too. Probably exactly the same as yours. Same colours too. i got it new 130k USD here in Vietnam. It's my daily too and I agree with many of your points. No runflats on this car, runflats make the ride so crashy. Mine does not have the air suspension too. I think it makes the car less reliable. Always prone to leaks and stuff. Engine reliable, yes it is and I'm doing my own services. My front shocks managed to get a little bit of dirt inside the rubber boots and it started squeaking each time the spring got compressed or decompressed. Some cleaning at the dealership sorted it out. Not 100% but 95%, also good enough for me. Was under warranty. I also have the headboard rattle but that's over really rough surfaces and i think i could live with mine. Mine's not that bad. I dont have any air con vent or trim rattles even over country roads. And i'm talking dirt roads. So yeah pretty all right. I don't have any other issues. Mine has some simple performance mods. A hybrid turbo and water methanol system since 91 octane gas is the highest available here. It now makes 258hp at the wheels and still has the all roundedness that i expect from a Mercedes. We don't have the C43 or C63 coupe here so this is it! I have the C63s coupe in another country but I do think that the C300 cannot be compared to the C63s. They are entirely different in all aspects and like you said, are made for different purposes. Pretty happy with what I have and what it does. Oh and the depreciation here is also hell. I think I saw a 2017 7 speed version selling for about 80k USD recently. So that's a 50 grand drop in 3 years on a somewhat rare car in Vietnam. There are less than 20 to 30 of the C Coupe in the entire Vietnam. So i'm intending to keep mine for at least another 3 years. It's more of a lack of options than the depreciation. Great video! Subscribed to your channel too :)
Just bought the 2018 sedan 13,000 miles, CarPlay and Burmester for 27,000. Couldn’t agree more those two options are a must with this car. You’re also right about depreciation. The original sticker price on the car we bought was over $50,000.
Lucky I guess. They had 8 of them for sale in Grand Rapids Michigan where I live. I found one in Chicago that had everything I wanted and it happened to be 5000 cheaper than anything they had in GR.I sent a link to the salesman in GR. He would only come down 600. I drove to Chicago and bought the car. It’s a great car we love it!

barchetta575m : thank you! How much will the CLE Coupe start at? I hope it’s not too much more expensive 🫣😬. Right now the C Class starts at $47k which is good.
Thank you James for this great review. I test drove a 2017 today and it was priced at 30,000. I test drove the 2020 late last year I am looking to trade in my 2017 CLA-250/4-MATIC -SPORTS PACKAGE. I don't want to lease this time around. This was again very helpful.

James … thanks for the honest feedback on your experience. I am having 2nd thoughts about buying a new 2022/2023 C300 after hearing about your issues with the headliner and speaker. Totally unacceptable for a car in this price range but worse is the fact that it took 5 and 7 trips to get these things resolved. I much prefer the Porsche Macan over any MB. Anyways, love the channel man!
Oh, dear! I'm close to ordering an E53 Coupe (or I was). I hate creeks and rattles. My experience has not been good with locating and fixing and therefore, rattles are a deal-breaker. I currently drive a 5 series that is three years old with nary a squeak or a rattle. Thanks for this review.
If I were to get a coupe I’d have to be a the E450. I have the E300 so for me this one just feels cramped. I hope they redesign the taillights soon for the C Class. It’s starting to look dated. I agree on the acceleration though, specially with the E class because it’s a much heavier car than the C Coupe. It’s super slow. My lease is up this year, might just get the E450 sedan. PS- great review!
Thank you for the feedback! I totally feel where your coming from on that I've driven the e 300 it's too heavy to have the 4 cylinder in it. I think you'll really enjoy the e450 it's just enough👌🏻
My biggest disappointment with this car is that it does not have a spare tire. Of course, the salesperson did not mention it and I was assuming that it should be there. Worse, the car does not have enough space in the trank for the extra tire. I don't understand what Mercedes was thinking about.
Thanks mate, a very informative video. I'll go probably for C400 which should have similar performance to C43, sure without the sporty noise - which I'm not very fond of either way - but for less money.
thank you I found your review very helpful, I'm thinking to get a new car so limiting the options between new C300 coupe or pre owned porsche cayman? its just for daily use nothing sportive other than the look ;P what do you recommend ?
I've driven both go Porsche Cayman it's much more enjoyable day to day and they hold their value much better Mercedes have a huge depreciation rate Porsche is a much smarter financial decisions
Just starting to looking for a starter luxury coupe, and loved ur review man! Just became a fun! Just wondering where do you normally go look for a used one? All the 2018 used c300 I can find online are well above 3,2000
You didn't mention anything about the differences between a RWD and 4WD, so what do you think about getting a RWD? In my country the difference in prices between those are huge, but since we have pretty long winters I'm still seriously thinking about the 4WD. Great video anyways, loved your input, especially about the 2018+ gearbox, haven't really thought about it before.
Excellent review. C43 is the sweet spot. Have all the same feelings about this car. So frustrated it doesn’t have CarPlay. Hardly ever use the screen. I have the same headliner issue! So annoying. Never fixed. Been in shop multiple times. I’ve never had winter tires and the car is TERRIBLE in the winter. Unsafe. Literally sliding into intersections. I have a 2017 c300 coupe edition 1, which has rear wheel drive. A beautiful spec in matte gray. Bumeister stereo is great, but lacking in base. Nobody loves being in that back seat. Lol.
Just so you know... the Mercedes pricing is not base on the reliability of the car, it's base on two key factors.. 1. Price to repair and 2. Premium Fuel only tag. You can see Honda and Camry facing these lower dips but that is base on the fact that these brand sell a luxury brand that is costing more to repair and fuel but not to mention, you can trust a previously owned Toyota because Toyota owners are the worse when it comes to changing the oil. Love the car dude, contemplating weather to get a c220/c300, Audi A5, or a 4 series coupe. All three will be two doors couple. Anything you can say about any of your experiences with any of these cars and what to choose?
Don't do it!!! I had a 2017 C300 coupe M274 engine has issues at 65K plus miles. There is an engine defect.... the piston in cylinder 1 will go bad and cause damage to the engine. MB knows about this. There is a lawsuit in CA right now!
Great video + car! I am a bit confused about the 7sp vs 9sp trans. We have our 2017 model and it has 9sp trans, but it's a cabriolet. 2017 coupes never came with 9 speed?
@@WholesaleJewelleryAustralia been good so far. Knock on wood lol. Had squeaking brakes, issues with driver side quarter window rubber seal(two times in 5 years). All fixed under warranty. It was the first car sold in my state. Was one of those display models.
I have a 2018 on hold for $36K. It was a fleet car and only has 15k miles on it. Even though that is more than you said to spend do you think it is a good deal given the low mileage? Thanks for any help. Great review btw.
I love this video and I’m glad you’re producing such honest and high quality content. Would you be able to speak to the maintenance cost of owning this vehicle for 3 years? I know major repairs are costly, as they are with other manufacturers, but as far as scheduled maintenance- are the costs as exorbitant as people speak of for just regular running costs?
No they are very minimal find one low milage and get rid of it at 80k miles at 90 k all Mercedes have what they call sacrificial parts aka suspension controller arms bushings motor mounts etc. Those are costly to replace but is normal maintaince at that point. Brakes are more expensive than the average car but that's about it. Mine as I said in the video has been pretty good to me. As long as your ok with the higher cost of tires and brakes pads and rotors then your fine. Just heed my warning about the 90 k mile range cars
I’m currently in between picking an Infiniti Q60 and a c300 coupe… I’ve always loved MB, but I’m looking for the best value with minimal issues, which one should I go for?
I’m looking at buying one for my wife and they are asking on average 33-36k for an 2018 with 20-30k miles. Is that a good deal? I know you said no more than 28k at the time of this video. Thanks!
for someone who recently fell in love with the look at this car this review puts me off.

If you want a car you can spiritedly drive definitely the c 43 if you want comfort the e unless you get air body control in the e then it will handle.
Don't do it!!! I had a 2017 C300 coupe M274 engine has issues at 65K plus miles. There is an engine defect.... the piston in cylinder 1 will go bad and cause damage to the engine. MB knows about this. There is a lawsuit in CA right now!
the only way i buy one!
if i had a millon dollars!
so i dont have to worry about
maintenance!! or anything
All cars are not an investment, it’s always been the best way to lose money… unless it’s a rare classic…
Great video + car! I am a bit confused about the 7sp vs 9sp trans. We have our 2017 model and it has 9sp trans, but it's a cabriolet. 2017 coupes never came with 9 speed?
How’s the reliability?
@@WholesaleJewelleryAustralia been good so far. Knock on wood lol. Had squeaking brakes, issues with driver side quarter window rubber seal(two times in 5 years). All fixed under warranty. It was the first car sold in my state. Was one of those display models.
Performance wise, do you think its equivalent to bmw 330i, audi a4/a5... basically any 250ish HP turbo german car?
I've owned all 3. performance vs a 330i or a5 quattro from the same year, no the c300 is 100% slower.
c300 is slow
I have a 2018 on hold for $36K. It was a fleet car and only has 15k miles on it. Even though that is more than you said to spend do you think it is a good deal given the low mileage? Thanks for any help. Great review btw.
Carrie Hedderman thank you and tbh I think that is high. But if it's what you want and can justify it it's the right decision.
A fleet car. What fleet purchases a two-door Mercedes? Amazing, the stories people tell, and the stories people believe.
Yea I get 22 miles a gallon in mine and that was pretty low for me. My dad daily drives a c63 and mine isn’t much better then that
how does it handle snow (if it snows in your area). ever worried about getting stuck? :)
which is the best way to install apple car play on C 200 coupe 2019 ? thx
If you do not mind me asking how much do you pay mer month for this car? I am looking at this same model
What is that exhaust system you have? Can't be stock....! Thanks!
Great vid man! Guys shall i go for the coupe or sedan?
Coupe
torgue and pickup laggs when you are driving at say 30 mph and you have to quickly accelerate to a higher speed.
I'm debating c300 or Lexus ct 200h. Or do I go bigger with mazda 3 turbo? 🤔
Khristopher Jones Thank you I'm glad it helped out👌🏻
Try Michellin Crossclimate tires or at least All-weather instead of All-season
2020 c300 coupe or the sedan?
I’m currently in between picking an Infiniti Q60 and a c300 coupe… I’ve always loved MB, but I’m looking for the best value with minimal issues, which one should I go for?
Never had an infinity so I can't speak for it Benz is a love and hate relationship I've paid a lot to maintain cats
A month after and already a small headliner issue..😕
Any update? Was that the only problem or did you have anymore issues at all?
cool video
I haven't watch the video but i agree
in the UK your looking at 60 mpg
Hello.salvatore 2017 Mercedes coupe c class for 25,000$ it's a good price ??
I'd go for a 19 the 17 is outdated
I’m looking at the c250d coupe prob 2016/17 would u recommend these
If that’s the manual version I wouldn’t bother just get a 220d it’s an auto diesel, not sure if they sell them in the US though
I saw a 2017 for 40k, they wouldn't budge, 18k miles.
Keep looking on auto tempest
I’m looking at buying one for my wife and they are asking on average 33-36k for an 2018 with 20-30k miles. Is that a good deal? I know you said no more than 28k at the time of this video. Thanks!
To be honest the market is very different now wish I had more for you
are the headlights good at night can you rate them 1 out of 10 ?
6 the active ones are much better it was an option. I recommend the 19 as the facelift added a lot to the cat
