- 1947 Buick Special- 83K Mile - Straight 8
In '47 the Buick Special returned with three models: a four-door sedan, a two-door sedanet, and a convertible. You can recognize this is a Special immediately by the beautiful extra chrome moldings on the sides.
Here we have an amazing example of post war car design and how they came out of a brief hiatus post WWII with a fresh design and remained a practical and handsome example of curvaceous 1940s styling. With a ride that Cadillac would have a hard time competing with.
Put a few minutes in behind the wheel of this gorgeous car and you will understand why the Buick Special was such a desirable family car!

That was our family car when I was a kid, many years ago. The memories!
I just love the old three on the tree..(:=()
My Dad's first Buick was a '46 Roadmaster. Great car. Bulletproof.
! Incredible !
The real and classic Buick 8 is alive and well.👍
What a gorgeous beast of a car. Smooth as silk. Thanks for taking us for a ride 👌
Wow, how well taken care of that Buick is, I had a 1952 Buick in my country Cuba, a super excellent car. If you are selling that Buick I would like to have it.😉👍
Nice buick👌👍
In laws of a neighbor in Westchester, Ill, where we lived from 1949 to 1955 owned the car. I must have been seven when we moved there. The Vanderbilts would come to visit occasionally and I remember admiring the car specially the smooth flowing rear fenders and the way the tail lights were placed.
Westchester was a Chicago suburb built for war vets. Walter Baltis would not build garages because homes were more important. Dad paid $7000 for it and now it is worth almost $500,000 with the addition on the back. Google 1343 Newcastle Ave, Westchester. It looks like the day we sold it.
Lovely machine. A 1940s Buick/Olds/Pontiac is on my bucket list to own.
What a great ro😊😊d car 😊that is,you could drive it all day long and would not have any problems with it even at 80mph❤,when I say road car mean highway driving
Lindo motor de oito cilindros em linha. 👋🇧🇷
They all Drive good at 40/45 mph.
Que motor de arranque es compatible para es auto si le eliminas el 6 volts y lo conviertes en 12 voltios
This is a Special not a Roadmaster Super
Thanks for the correction! Easy to get ourself into a rabbit hole during our research on cars of this era!
You need to adjust your side mirror.
I'm amazed that he didn't crash it, obviously doesn't know how to baby an older car.
Babying a car isnt caring for it or enjoying it. You want to take a car out on the road and do 6 mph you may as well leave it at home or better yet sell it
This body style looks more like a '40 or '41
Is it just my ears, or do I hear
a slight miss in the engine?
Noisey engine
