I think there is a lot of wrong with being spoiled. It can hurt people that can’t afford anything. I think parents shouldn’t give there kids whatever they want. I think they should get what they need. In your case with your dad. I totally understand.

I’ve been called spoiled before but if you’re acting like a baby cause someone said no to you or you throw tantrums or just have a nasty attitude, there is everything wrong with that. If you’re spoiled and know the value of money and appreciate everything you got then there is nothing wrong with it.

My grandad did the same before he died
He know he was gonna pass soon
So he would always take me and my brothers on trips and shopping and gave me clothes and stuff like that
I obviously loved everything he gave me
He didn’t even have to give it to me
I was just so happy to spend as much time with him as possible before he passed and I was so happy

We had a few issues in our family so I didn’t see my dad a lot..
He didn’t always have time for us
But when he did have time
He would always buy things for us
And obviously I would take the things he gave me and I was happy with it
But I wasn’t happy with the fact I wasn’t making memories
He would just buy us stuff to make himself feel less guilty and I felt bad about that
My brothers would take everything happily but I was a little different
So...

It's really good that you talk about your dad more, even though you can tell it still hurts (not saying that it will stop hurting one day). Sometimes I tell myself that my parents will live with me forever too... even though I know they wont.. Especially because they had me at an (kind of) old age (late 30s). At some place Im angry at them for having me and my sibiling a little late because I just think its unfair for me to spend less time with them... but what you said about memories lasting forever is actually really cheering and true!

Having that kind of party ONCE in your life does not make you spoiled! Every dad wants to make his little girl happy and as long as you were grateful and gave him the utmost gratitude for him doing it then I don't see you as being spoiled.. From other stories I have heard about you and your dad y'all had a real bond and you asked for something he didn't see was that big of a problem so he delivered!!!!

people that may be bitter and that doesnt get much may view one as being spoiled. but hey, i have a daughter and im a single mom but anytime she says she wants something i wanna do it for her and give her everything. of course, i teach her she cant have everything and anything she wants. i do say no often. i feel that when one isnt being appreciative and starts living like they're entitled to things and looking down on others for what others dont have while everything they have isnt good enough.... THATS being spoiled rotten. my daughter is 7 yrs old now and i teach her everyday, money isnt easy and making money is hard work. theres tons of toys she has that i tell her to donate as she's getting older to those less fortunate kids that have nothing out there in this world and she's totally with it. im so proud when i see her on her own with her friends how generous and kind she is. when her friends come over to our house they are in awe of her room and is so jealous of the fact that she has her own tv in the room but i tell them listen, that tv isnt on 24/7. its there as a treat and a reminder its there when she deserves tv time when all her work is done, etc. me, as a girl wanted that mtv sweet 16 party and as spoiled as i was, i never got one. but it's ok. honestly, kids born in this generation like my daughters era are more spoiled than ever and will never know what its like to work hard for things no matter how hard we may try to teach them the ways we grew up with.
