I absolutely love the E series Fords. I had an ED XR6 5 speed in Polynesian green when it was about 9yrs old with under 100,000km on it. I loved that car so much. I had it about 18mo and it was totalled when a Range Rover ran a red. I previously had an EA S with a 3 speed. It was white with the red stripe, I lowered it, put on a set of 17” wheels, which in 1996 were a fucking huge wheel, and put a sports exhaust onto her and that car was just magic. So much love for the E series. I’ve just bought a BA tonner as a daily, it’s got 565,000 on it, but it’s got a BF engine gearbox and diff with about 180k on them. Same as your car, it just drives really nice, has great AC, a sweet stereo system and a steering wheel that isnt actually falling apart.

I own the older falcon, but you know what it drives pretty well and I'm taking care of it👍!!!

I went one better.. 97 EL xr6 factory manual licenced and very healthy, paid $1800 about a year ago and is my daily.
Fun to drive, very reliable and actually quite fast.
I look forward to selling it because it means an easy minimum of $5000 profit for doing nothing.

I've got an FG and FGX in "performance" variants (GS315 and G6ET). They are both stock-ish, aside from Kings/Bilstein suspension in the FG. My EB GLi with Kings/Ultima suspension has a more talkative chassis than both of the newer Falcons. The steering is super-communicative and the live axle rear is very easy to find the limit of and manage there. The FG is nowhere near as connected, the back end snaps way more aggressively and is MUCH harder to catch. The stability management in the FG has probably saved my ass on a couple of occasions, while the EB just doesn't need it.
Before anyone mentions it, I know a little bit about driving a car on the limit after doing a lot of club-level competitive motorsport in cars I built and tuned myself with a reasonable amount of success. I'm not an expert, but I know how to balance/tune setups to get the best outta them and I gained a reputation in the club I competed with getting great results for minimal spend (I was referred to as the owner of team TWR-Tight Wad Racing) :)
My main point is that the old E-series chassis is surprisingly capable, competent and tuneable. Putting in a little effort on alignment settings, bushes and tyre choice/pressures can produce a very rewarding drive that generates good cornering g's and massive smiles per $.

Realistically night and day difference but good to compare anyway, I’d happily own both again, had an EF XR6 green manual years ago and a 15 turbo manual Ute till it got t-boned by a stop sign runner, Luv my falcons and now getting into the XD’s and AU’s! Still luv the 200 mate, Merry Mew years and all that jazz! 👌👍👍👍🎄

If you replace the front end bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends, rack ends, shocks and get a wheel alignment it will drive like a new car I guarantee that.

My work car was an FG and honest to god, I wouldn’t buy an FG. It feels like a mid sized car inside. The tunnel for your legs is really tight compared to the BA BF and I’m just not comfortable in them for long drives ( typically i do 500-800km a night) where as in my BA I don’t feel like that.

With the FGX if you still have it fit an exterior oil cooler for the ZF tranny for if the oil and coolant mix that's the tranny stuffed and it can't be fixed. A new tranny will cost you 10K+. You could also do it for the EF if you still have that for Ford routed the oil pipes through the base of the radiator on both cars. Many Falcon owners have fitted exterior tranny oil coolers for peace of mind.
On my FG G6E as soon as the warranty expired I fitted an exterior oil cooler for the 6 speed ZF and that was over ten years ago. I just didn't want the ZF milkshake.

The FG has the ZF 6 speed sequential sports shift and is awesome to drive ..going up in value too ..In 2016 I paid $12,000 for it ...Averaging high teens thousands now on Cars Sales like about $18,000 plus for a good one N/A like mine and $24,000 for the turbo ...great cars all round .

aint that a fgx? and the normal fgs look different?

    • @DoctorWEBB
      @DoctorWEBB ปีที่แล้ว

FG-X has fancy led running lights up the front.
Thats About the only fancy part on it. Hides the fugly nose section & sets it apart from a Mondeo looking heap of shizzz. I've had these Falcons as company utes covering 100,000km min in every model from XG up XH AU BA BF BF2 FG-X utes. FG-X was XR-6 spec. Others were Tradesman pack spec.
AU is the Pick of the lot. Best to drive. Seating position is different or something, less road noise. Only cup holder design that holds your large cup properly. Fg-X cup holder is designed to tip a large cup out completely out,
empty.. ice n all in your lap..
first corner after drive thru with satanic accuracy.
Nothing too special on the last
fg-x turning circle is XF spec, traction control button that has to be fingered 3x smashing rapidly to make the switch work like a normal switch should. By then your frigging bogged in my yard.
Stupid idea. Why even have the bloody thing if worried someone will turn traction cuntroll off??
Still better ute than a pos Ranger Danger. Those uncomfortable floaty slow shitboxes don't even have lumber adjustment or support on drivers seat. The seats are 82 KB laser spec aka the same. But laser are more comfortable
