Hats off to my former band director, Dr. Julian White, of the Florida A $ M University Marching Rattlers. We played this march many many times while I was attending William M. Raines Senior High School in Jacksonville, Florida. I was trumpet section leader during Junior High School, Senior High School, and then through college at Bethune-Cookman College, now known as Bethune-Cookman University. This march, as well as others, brings back fond memories of when I was a growing up participating in the band. The one thing I must say about growing up being in the band: Once in the band, always in the band (smile). That's how much I loved being in the band.
I've always loved this. My band director let us sight read it, and its tough. The clarinet part with all those trills and runs almost knocked me off my chair. I've loved this for over 30 years
I did watch their video and was impressed....I was also very delighted with Mt. Carmel and their performance of "Barnum and Bailey's Favorite" I was never lucky enough to play with bands of this quality until I got to college and then only by a coincidence that was sheer luck.
In 1965, I was in the band at Orange High School, a few miles away. I was so jealous of all of the Anaheim schools because they could afford good marching equipment and... they bought Selmer Mark 6 tenor saxes to issue to their sax players. We did well at the music festivals, but you guys cleaned our clocks in the parades.

Beautiful part for woodwinds... stunningly beautiful and then blow your head off with brass! Incredible March!

I freaking love this... love being a trombone on this. That high Ab is amazing
Played this as our parade competition march 1965 at Savanna HS Anaheim, Ca.

Very Good. Never heard it played this well.
Played this with the Allentown Juvenile Band in 1975. That was an ass-kicking band.
Played this with the 82nd Airborne Division Band in 1978. That was an ass-kicking band.
This is the Army Band (Pershing's Own) from Washington, DC from about the 1970s. All good tempos!
Check out Rancho Bernardo 09 at Arcadia Band review playing this march.
My band director said the same thing. The clarinet part is a killer.
I love this march, I envy those dang Tuba players.
smh lol RIGHT! We be about to die every time on the ending lol
euphonium has the coolest part
The Band is the United States Army Field Band.
@cottonfolf
I'm not joking around, I know that an Ab is like.... nothing. But I've never been asked to play above and F until college. XD
Does anyone know where I can get assistance for the snare part?
I LOVE this march! Too bad HS concert band programs are being systematically being gutted.
This is the perfect tempo. I really hate when college marching bands slaughter orchestral music by upping the tempo.
@ivan1127 i enjoy my sousaphone :D
aka tuba
I knew our band was playing this too fast! smh
