O progresso do ainda jovem Glazunov, demonstrado na sinfonia número 2 é notório no campo sentimental, um romântico que floresce, antecipando o que virá depois , quando dará ao mundo através da música para ballet a sua inestimável contribuição . Bravo !
Just hearing this for the first time ever, on the radio! Loving all of the feelings 💖💖💖
sicilline -- Yes YES! Then you'll also love Gliere's 2nd Symphony....and the start & finish of "Cherevichki".......[Greetings from San Agustinillo, Oaxaca!]

Note to self: 9:48
Hello, I am new to music...
Anyone can help adding the time mark for each movement?
It will help a lot, thanks!
Added!
@@RoddersClassical thanks a lot! you are so nice
Tremendous sophomore symphony from a 20/21 year old. So much confidence in the orchestral forces at his command. The second and final movements are particularly impressive. I have two other performances but this reading by Khaikin and the Moscow Radio SO is, by far, the best I've heard.
Very epic opening! Those same bars in Borodin's 2nd. Symphony and Lyapunov's 1st. Symphony.
The 2nd movement is excellent. I bought this as an LP in 1976. I think HMV had just withdrawn it. It seems to date ftom a time when it had become the fashion to call Rachmaninov's Op 7 "The Crag". For some reason "The Rock" was considered to be a poor translation.
As a result of this purchase I took to pestering HMV with letters suggesting they might issue more Melodiya discs of symphonies by my beloved Glazunov.
... che direttore Boris Khaikin!
When I hear from 28:30, I always remember Tchaikovsky Sleeping Beauty, the scene when the evil witch appears.
