  • When Rubjerg Knude Lighthouse in Denmark was built in 1899, it stood proudly 200 meters from the edge. However, the sea is always hungry, and she ate about 2 meters off that edge every year. In 2017 the plan was to demolish it, but later it was decided to move it. Local mason Kjeld Mason has spent the last 18 months planning the move. The most critical time of the move was the first hour, after lifting it and fitting its 'roller skates'. Everyone held their breath when lifting it, and they could finally take a deep breath again after that first hour! The move was calculated to take about 10 hrs., but fewer stops on the way resulted in reaching the new location in 6 hrs. Music in this video is "Gypsy Shoegazer" by Kevin MacLeod - incompetec.com
