Musically, 'Steven' from the Nightmare album is one of his finest works.

I think Steven is the most interesting character ever created for a concept album. And that album is my favourite Alice cooper album. I saw the nightmare tour in London , empire pool 1975 and will never forget it
While being institutionalized in a state hospital in a strait jacket head lobbing Spital drooling from meds and in a quiet room next to Michael Myers and treated by Dr. GIGGLES... I know cause that's me....hahahahaha

As someone with psychosis and regular psychotic episodes, I relate to Steven on a very real level. Specifically the song Steven itself, hearing your name being called over and over in the dark of the night, by voices you don't know, people you don't know. It's a terrifying experience, it still scares me even after all these years.

As a kid I had heard different voices calling my name (just like in the song) coming from the hallway, which was in the center of the house from the living room and it lead to all the other rooms!
This all happened before the song came out and I freaked the hell out when I heard it around 14?!
Always been a big Alice Cooper fan!
To this day I still think that place was haunted! Alice's description really explains how I felt and I even carved Steven Seven into a wooden fence around our yard in Redondo Beach, CA.
Side note, I went back to visit years ago and they tore out two blocks of homes and streets next to Lincoln Elementary School to make more room for the school.
In a strange twist of fate that house still stands!
They left our old house there (crazy) and it is being used as a Boy Scouts Den as far as I know still today?

Steven is my favorite Alice Cooper song. Well that and I never cry.
I always thought Steven was this guy that had a questionable childhood, like in the song "Wind-up Toy", and later as a dad, contemplating on killing his baby in the song named after him. And in "The Awakening" he wakes up, either doing the deed and not remembering, or him wanting to kill his child was just a dream.
Looking at this, I can almost assume that in the song named after him, maybe he was debating on killing his baby brother or something. Which if that was the case, it could've been him reliving memories in his dream, and the one calling for him was his wife in the real world, or his mother from the dream. Not sure if I'm looking too deep into it, or the meaning is much simpler than this
My absolute favourite song of his. Musically it is just beautiful and the piano is perfection. I have loved this since I was 14 and am now 61.
I want to see Alice cover Comfortably Numb with the straight jacket on and Little Susie by MJ.
An early version of "comfortably numb" (titled "the doctor") has different lyrics that would NOT be out-of-place on a classic Alice album!
Steven is a Dark soul within Alice who brings out those stories in music....been listening to AC since Billion Dollar 🚼....

my names stephen and when the song came out I had lost a toddler brother to a drowning in the back yard pool and a father to cancer two years later he was 42 .... the line your to young to die was my brother and i dont want to see you die was my dad ..he was told he had cancer after my brother die so we knew and i was in a fog a haze everyone calling my name trying to get my attention asking me questions .....whats it feel like now that they died familly calling my name telling me Im the man of the house i was 10 ........this song helped thank you alice
