@@Virjunior01 That's just one of many Evangelion timelines. There's a video on them, if you look it up. Manga-Series/Movies-Rebuilds. That's the main timeline. The 3rd Impact ont the manga lead to the world on the Series/Movies. And their 3rd Impact lead to the world of the Rebuilds.

Im guessing they didn't notice Mari in the photo Fuyutsuki has or Mari in Gendo's conversation to Shinji about his childhood. Its basically shown that Mari is friends with Gendo, Yui and Fuyutsuki, hence why she called him Professor. Fuyutsuki calls her by her full English, shes from Britain, name and then Escariot as she has basically betrayed what the friend group wanted by helping Kaji/Wille. The only thing i get confused on is how she becomes ageless, maybe the curse of the evas, but it would have had to happen before even 1.11 as she's still college-age-ish.
I always assumed she was one of the first children, she can pilot the Eva's and she doesn't age, she's just the one that can pilot them all basically, why is never explained as far as I know but it fills in some plot holes for her for sure

This movie has a special place in my heart. I grow up watching shinji going through all of this when I was just as young as him and to see him in this movie gave me closure. Evangelion is like the longest, most convoluted therapy session a man has ever gone thru. I like to see Shinji who is, with most of the main cast, a representation of the author finally embracing everything and choosing to heal. I only hope this is the same path Hideaki Anno chose in real life. The only way to get something remotely comprehensible out of the EVA series (without the classified files from the psp game) is to watch it as 50+ hours of catharsis from a boy who was abused emotionally, physically, tormented, broken several times in more than one timeline, in End of Evangelion turned into a toxic (possibly sociopathic) person, force to live alongside a person who, for 99% of the show did nothing but mistreat and hurt him. and in spite of all that, he still decided to forge ahead and heal himself.

I loved how meta this movie is by acknowledging the existence of the other movies/shows as canon, alternate courses of events. They're all different paths Shinji could take. This was the good ending in his RPG.
Loved the ending so much! I had the pleasure of driving from Tokyo to Ube where the station takes place at, which is called Ube Shinkawa Station in Anno’s hometown. It literally looks like that in real life too. I got the chance of sitting in the seat where Shinji was sitting at along with running up the stairs.
1:03:10 This whole franchise is also the creator's way of telling you to get out and touch grass, basically. Escapism is a big theme, so you're on the right track
I absolutely love this movie. It's a rollercoaster of emotions. And while Neon Genesis Evangelion, the show, is my favorite thing ever, this time I actually didn't end up hating Gendou, but finally understanding him at the end. Of all the endings of Eva, the TV show, End of Evangelion, the manga, this is my favorite one.
NGE as a whole is an exhausting, hot mess, especially if you've ever been in any of the characters' shoes at any point in life. I was very much a Shinji, that depressed Shinji who wants but doesn't want to be alone, who wants but doesn't want to be alive, with a dead mom to boot (tho thankfully not quite a Geno Ikari for a dad) and that Shinji still crops up now and again as I've gotten a better handle on, well, adulting. It's why I've resonated more and more with this series as time has gone on, and with every revisit. And with all of it culminating in this, very rewarding, at least for myself. There are issues with it, my biggest one being the overwhelmingness of the BIG action set pieces, and not everyone was happy with it, but this one offered the most satisfying progressive conclusion for its characters, Shinji, Misato, and Rei especially. There's so much wholesomeness, and this sense that the show has grown and evolved and made piece with itself as a whole and with the world, in parallel with Hideaki Anno. That kind of culmination hit hard for me, and has really brought the specialness of this series full circle for me. Definitely recommend checking out The Challenge of Evangelion documentary (if you get time), 100% agree with Chris' "drunk summary", and also Spidey's sentiment of, "I don't know if I'm broken or fixed."
In one scene in the film, the animation is taken directly from "My Neighbor Totoro" produced by Studio Ghibli in 1988. Specifically, it is a scene in a rice paddy. In the ending roll, the name of Studio Ghibli appears as a collaborator.
In the 1991 anime "Nadia-The Secret of Blue Water," director Hideaki Anno destroyed the Eiffel Tower. The TV version of Evangelion, produced in 1995, was planned as a sequel to "Nadia" in the early stages of production, which may have had something to do with it
8:55..it hasn't been long. the children have only been walking the land for a few days, maybe. the big time skip was between the second and third movie, which was 14 years. Ritsuko is talking about it being 16 years since they've been to the French branch of NERV, which they were there for supplies. So the implication is that before the major time skip, they had not been there in 2 years, hence the 16 years she was talking about.
I think I loved these movies more because they show what happens when you have a person with trauma and you surround him with people who actually care about them, instead of just using them. Also everyone has some character growth, especialy Rei and Shinji.
You can think of the 3.0 + 1.0 name meaning that, while it is the 4th movie, we also start the beginning of a new timeline at the end, hence a new “1.0”.
Ok,Ok, finally. It is the end of what can be described as an exhaustingly beautiful journey. What can be interpreted from the ending? 1: that everything was a dream while waiting for the train to go to the office 😝. Or 2:, that Shinji destroyed the world of the Eva's and created a new world, our real world.
When they were making this film, they really went with the word *catharsis* as a solid guide 😂 From Gendo and Shinji getting over their depression. To Rei finally finding peace. Asuka realizing her life and sacrifices meant something. And Misato and Kaji's own final sacrifices to save the universe.
It’s a little out of date now not being done after the last movie but there’s a video by IGN I think where this dude compiles EVERY single multiversal timeline of the ENTIRE extended evangelion franchise you guys should react to!!! I’m sure you’d love knowing about all the weird and niche extended media that is somewhat canon lol
I don't know if time changes some things, I feel that it is different to see a series with movies included in a short time, and being someone who watched the series as a child, watched the manga and saw suffering in the endings. and years later, watch the new movies and be happy because finally someone with as much suffering as Shinji can finally be happy. Almost 20 years of suffering, for me it was gratifying, even liberating. The scene that touched my heart the most was when Rei Ayanami says to Shinji: ''because we love you''... wow, moving, we all need those words told to us... and Rei's death too... It was very hard.
THe original anime + end of evangelion movie , the games , the novels , the mangas , everything was cannon , any one of them really happened , any one of them was a cycle, and the Rebuild of evangelion was the last cycle were Shinji finally found a solution , the whole in-universe cast was "trapped" in this story , always resetting the cycle and trying a different route and finally they done it.
I haven’t watched Evangelion before seeing your guys reactions. I’m glad I did. It’s such a great confusing emotional show! I understand the ending and it was a great happy conclusion for all the characters!
Yes Yes Yes, Thanks for you guys react to this. You guys are one of the only few channel that react to the new movie series! Just finished watching the reaction, definitely will enjoy a hour long discussion after that.
After Evangelion and Gurren Lagann you guys really should give "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" a shot. It's 90's classic and was made by the same group of people, but before the depression.
Shinji was the loose tread Gendo did not espected in his final plan. He expected Wille intervention, Fuyutsuki´s betrayal, but never that Shinji would be in the final battle, he thoung that making Rei 6 die in front of him would dive him into absolute depression, never expected him to get back up.
The Mark.XX series along with the four ships and Unit 13 are the modified autonomous EVA's from the last cycle (EoE). Unit 2 was afraid of 13 cuz 13 is the one that killed unit 2 in EoE.
The Japanese version of the title is Shin Evangelion. If you interpret it in a general way, "shin" is used with the kanji ''新'' meaning ''new''. In reality, however, ''shin'' is written in katakana''シン'' This was done intentionally by the producers in order to give Japanese viewers a sense of the compound meaning. ''新''New, ''真''true,''神''God,''深''deep, ''芯''core, ''進''evolution or progress, ''心''heart or spirit, All of these letters are pronounced ''shin''.
After a few re-watches I realized that gendo and fuyutsuki knew Marin, then I looked at the manga... so yeah. Judas references means that Marin knew them, no, was part of the group. Gendo, whenever he recalled his memories excluded Marin from it.
3.0 + 1.0. Is a reference to dimensions. The dialogue in the opening Paris scene is about getting used to animating in 3d. The +1.0 is time - what Anno and Shinji needed to heal.
Damn it i have tried 4 times to sit and watch this one as i didnt understand what had happened between the lasr one and this. Now im going to do my full rewatch and come back now normies are ahead of me
27:39 No. Fuyutsuki was always a bit of a mystery, but from the information given throughout everything, he's in love with Yui, and so he wants to be one with her like Gendo does.
Wow. I must admit, I kinda liked the little slice of life bits at the first third of the movie. The rest is kinda everything what I'd expect from an Evangelion movie; action, confusion, and pain. Seeing the future was a huge adjustment, but all things considered, it was a good movie.
One day they will discover the majesty that is the manga movies of the 80s and 90s. Then they will finally watch ninja scroll and experience anime at its peak

Finally. The end of a journey of 25 years. Being the huge Eva nerd I am, it felt oddly conforting. Just like Anno, we all can turn the page now, and move on with our lives. For me, Kensuke and Asuka were doing it. She didn't react to him seeing her naked, and Kensuke act like it was normal to see her in that way. And that's why Shinji sent her to Kensuke. The Curse of Eva is the way Hideaki Anno found to "slap" the fandom in the face. He wanted to move on from Eva, but the fans didn't. They kept clinging to characters as stereotypes that shouldn't evolve, just like the children didn't grew up. Mari... was a colegue of Yui's and Gendo's in university (where Fuyutsuki taught) before 2nd Impact. She knew about Yui's research, that's why she knew about all the Eva's secrete. Due to the Curse of Eva, she never got to grow. And, she's supposed to be a representation of Anno's wife, who helped him through his depression. That's why they ended up together in a world without Evas, as Shinji is supposed to be Anno's representation. Kaworu said it best: The world of Evangelion is in a never ending loop. The Manga is supposed to be the 1st iteration of it. It suffered a 3rd Impact, and after it, evolution took place, leading to the setting we saw at the Series/Movies. When that world suffered its 3rd Impact, Shinji and Asuka where the only ones left at that beach, in an allusion to Adam and Eve. From that History repeated itself again, leading to the wolrd of the rebuilds. The only constant thing between those "resets" so to say, is Kaworu. He's the same, and keeps his memories, even if he dies, he'll have a body on the moon for his soul to come back. Seele, through the Dead Sea Scrolls, knows about it. It's only life on the planet that gets wiped out, so the planet and the moon (that red ribbon on the Moon is actually Angel Rei's blood, from EoE) are the same. Thus, the only way to break that cycle, is (during an Impact even) wish for a wolrd wihtout Evas (and consequently, without Angels). That's why Shinji and Mari where in the real world, at the ending. Also, there are multiple Evangelion timelines (games, other animated projects, many diferent published manga) with the Oficial Manga-> TVSeries/Movies-> Rebuilds being the "main" one. Kaworu is supposed to be aware of them as well, if not the same individual in all of them. By the way, the end song "One Last Kiss" is said to be sung by Gendo to Yui, but for me, it makes more sense that it's from Asuka to Shinji. They loved each other (and in the series, they've both kissed and did it - in the End of Eva movie it's implicit). But they know they can't be together, so they're asking for one last kiss, before they go their separate ways, with the feeling that knowing the other is ok, and that's enough to fulfill their love for each other. Anno sensei said that the story of Evangelion Pilot Shinji Ikari is done now. He got the happy ending he deserved and that's it. But, he also said that he's open to tell other stories in the Evangelion universe, and would like to see other people's take on them. Maybe some 10 years from now, he'll make another series?
Love this one. It gives a great amount of closure to a long and winding story while still delivering on all the things that make its pieces great. Plus, for us long time fans seeing Shinji get on his sigma male grindset and finally make his own choices and not be crippled by any consequences for whatever ends up happening as a result. If they ever make another evangelion, I'd really like a story of Kaji and the rebellion against nerv without Shinji.
I thought it was a story about the current Anno (Shinji) learning what the former Anno (Gendo) wanted to do with the work of Eva. He wanted to see Yui off, even if it ruined his work and inconvenienced the people around him. What is Yui a metaphor for? What is the spear? In the final scene, Mari removes the choker from Shinji's neck, but she twirls it around her finger and puts it in her pocket as if to show it off. The choker has not disappeared, but is still in her pocket. It was a good ending.
Good thing, I decided to watch the Reaction of Neon Genesis then watching it myself again. I remember that I watched it when it came out but I dont remember none of it until these reactions helped. So thanks for telling me its a Religious Show cause I would've never guessed it since I'm Not religious and a lot of this dont make any sense. However, I need to watch the first couple of your movies since I only watched the last two. But, this is my first time seeing Unit 13. And from what the father said. I think, Unit 13 is the original 01 and the 01 is just spare parts from the TV Show. Unit 13 had more parts and more equipment than Unit 1 did in my opinion. So anyways, thanks. I will watch the other ones.
So...trying to explain that ending. As best as I can tell, the minus-space was a sort of metaphysical realm kinda like the stuff in End Of and the last episodes of the original anime, a sort of symbolic space where the characters work out their issues with lots of introspective navel-gazing. Gendo finally realises that Instrumentality was a bad idea, and that he could've been with Yui by just being there for his son, since she was in him all along or something... Asuka comes to terms with being a clone and having no place to belong outside of the Evas by finding solace with Kensuke, the only guy she felt any sort of closeness to at this point, seeing him as a sort of father/mentor figure. And the reason she looked to different and was spilling out of her plugsuit in that scene at the beach was her somehow being freed of the Curse of the Evas and being allowed to age properly. Kaworu reveals that the original anime, End Of and the Rebuild movies take place in a sort of cycle, restarting after each ending, with him constantly reappearing in each cycle to the point that he's lost count of how many it's been, before finally coming to terms with the fact that he was misguided in his desire to make Shinji happy, as he was just trying to make himself happy through Shinji, and is allowed a chance to live for himself and break the cycle. Then Shinji decides that with the Lance of Gaius he is gonna rewrite reality into a world with no Evas, where he and the other pilots can just put the whole Eva matter behind them and just live their lives.
I’m glad someone like Micky is not my friend. He sees a kid at his lowest point in his life and goes “hmmmm I think physical and psychological abuse will make him feel better (it made him isolate himself for days)”
I'm pretty sure it's not what he said. He litterally just said some people need different approaches. Especially when they're litteraly killing themselves by not eating....
The thing is Mari Makinami is only person who never abused or forsaken Shinji, she always waits for him, praises him and takes care of him. That's why she is key character to Shinji.

It’s from crunchy roll
Rei (Tentative Name) dying gutted me. If Long Ayanami had died too I don't think I would have gotten out of bed for a week.
Not calling "One Last Kiss" elevator music. 💀💀💀
no literally😭😭😭
I don't know if time changes some things, I feel that it is different to see a series with movies included in a short time, and being someone who watched the series as a child, watched the manga and saw suffering in the endings. and years later, watch the new movies and be happy because finally someone with as much suffering as Shinji can finally be happy. Almost 20 years of suffering, for me it was gratifying, even liberating. The scene that touched my heart the most was when Rei Ayanami says to Shinji: ''because we love you''... wow, moving, we all need those words told to us... and Rei's death too... It was very hard.
that mocapped fight scene where they were in a set and knocked buildings around is an homage to tokusatsu, more specifically the ultraman series.
Wow that wasn't even the first person whose head exploded in front of Shinji 😂
So glad you guys stuck around till the end
I haven’t watched Evangelion before seeing your guys reactions. I’m glad I did. It’s such a great confusing emotional show! I understand the ending and it was a great happy conclusion for all the characters!
Yes Yes Yes, Thanks for you guys react to this. You guys are one of the only few channel that react to the new movie series!
Just finished watching the reaction, definitely will enjoy a hour long discussion after that.
21:58 that scream came from the deepest from you xD
If y'all are in the mood for more Anno after this, You could start his Shin tokusatsu series, Godzilla Ultraman and Kamen Rider!
After Evangelion and Gurren Lagann you guys really should give "Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water" a shot.
It's 90's classic and was made by the same group of people, but before the depression.
28:26 “This series feels like there’s a test that I didn’t prepare for” is probably the most accurate way I’ve ever heard evangelion described
Media literacy not very strong on the group, but then again it's called "The normies"
I loved this movie. Really one of my favorite parts of the franchise
Im so glad you liked it.thx for finishing my favourite anime.
最後の現実のように見えるアニメーションは庵野監督の故郷の駅です。
The Mark.XX series along with the four ships and Unit 13 are the modified autonomous EVA's from the last cycle (EoE). Unit 2 was afraid of 13 cuz 13 is the one that killed unit 2 in EoE.
The Japanese version of the title is Shin Evangelion.
If you interpret it in a general way, "shin" is used with the kanji ''新'' meaning ''new''.
In reality, however, ''shin'' is written in katakana''シン''
This was done intentionally by the producers in order to give Japanese viewers a sense of the compound meaning.
''新''New, ''真''true,''神''God,''深''deep, ''芯''core, ''進''evolution or progress, ''心''heart or spirit,
All of these letters are pronounced ''shin''.
The cutest ending, the fight on the movie set is reminiscent of old Godzilla
Damn it i have tried 4 times to sit and watch this one as i didnt understand what had happened between the lasr one and this. Now im going to do my full rewatch and come back now normies are ahead of me
I love this group y’all got to start watching Gundam especially Gundam double 0
wait this is the ending WRONG UPLOAD there is no way they saw 3.0 and thought it was a combined movie 😭😭😭😭😭
Ngl I loved the movies. They made me love and respect the series as a whole alot more after watching them.
Micky lunch, penguins, who died?, gonna have kittens, wat? = Evangelion
I recently saw TV show titled ''FROM'' Highly recommended guy
Thx 4 making that reaction
27:39
No.
Chris there is a ton of proof that it’s a time loop
Oh yeah I dont think i picked on that much then - Chris
You people still with that theory?
Dude... just stop.
@@rafresendenrafresenden.1644 yup, especially since this movie confirms it
@@kuhpunkt if you notice, I left that comment literally a month ago. I’m also right so 🤷♀️
ngl i ain’t watched too much anime but i can confidently say gendo ikari is the goat of all bad fathers
What a great confusing journey
See you guys next time
・Manga Edition of Neon Genesis Evangelion, Volume 14 - EXTRASTAGE - Natsuiro no Eden
You can learn a little bit about Mari.
・漫画版「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」14巻ーEXTRASTAGEー夏色のエデン
マリの事が少しは分かります。
This movie breaks the fourth wall. And the fifth. And the additional wall. And...
"i don't know if i'm broken or fixed" the answer is fixed, if shinji is fixed all we are
This alternate dimension thing is where it falls off the rails for me...
Silent, broken Shinji is best Shinji because he can't continue to fuck things up. xD
Watch "Into The Badlands" ⚔
And that's why my avatar has been Shinji for 25 years. Thanks.
There might be something like that.
The story of Shinji as a pilot is over, but Anno said he's open to tell other stories, in the Evangelion universe.
man this was amazing cant wait for the Eva anonymous skit where the normies go through their experience surviving the anime.
last seen is real.
ube shhnkawa town,yamaguchi ken,japan.
8:12 movie summed up in 4 words
54:53
I hope it was Senkou Zesshi Symphogear.
God damnit, Symphogear is SO good.
I find Evangelion special. It is the one anime that manages to make me feel sad
Then Shinji decides that with the Lance of Gaius he is gonna rewrite reality into a world with no Evas, where he and the other pilots can just put the whole Eva matter behind them and just live their lives.
you guys should try Rahxephon it's kinda like evangelion but without the werid child stuff
or fafner dead aggressor
Can u guys react to an anime called Serial Experiment Lain?
Blue Eye Samurai please!
Once Upon A Time
Now ya'll need to see Shin Ultraman and Shin Kamen Rider.
51:51 that's Hideaki anno's wife and his cat.
Their imaginary is our reality. That's why Rei looked so weird.
That ending was perfect 🌏🔥great series
The thing is Mari Makinami is only person who never abused or forsaken Shinji, she always waits for him, praises him and takes care of him. That's why she is key character to Shinji.
next "Nadia, The Secret of Blue Water" ?
Anno was always Gendo, not shinji. Shinji is the audiece hes trying to reach.
Recommend watching shin Godzilla, also directed by creator of evangelion.
This was fun
