  • How to clean and replace the fuel pump fuel system on the gsxr 600 and look at what other parts on the GSX-R needs to be rebuilt, seeing how this thing is a sportbike barn-find of sorts. That means you get to see how to service a Gixxers injector and rebuild a Suzuki fuel pump. As well as how to remove or delete the pair valve system. Since GSXRs are all very similar you can use this video as a how-to or guide hopefully on your own project bike. In the end, we finally get to see the first startup of this classic 2007 GSX-R 600 which just makes me want to see this bike rebuilt faster.

    Your missing a major part of cleaning the fuel system. Believe me I learned the hard way after weeks of trying to figure it out and 3 fuel pumps. The large plastic piece that the fuel pump and level arm attach to is the high pressure fuel filter. The little screen thing that goes on the bottom of the pump is not the fuel filter. It's just a strainer for large debris. That big plastic piece is a big filter that catches all the small dirt and particles. It took me 2 new pumps before I noticed in my Suzuki Service manual it was marked as "high pressure filter ". And the little one on the bottom was labeled "strainer". The new pumps would help the loss of power for a week but never completely bring the power back and gradually the pumps would get louder and perform worse. Then after I realized that thing was a filter. I order another pump and that filter. BTW the Genuine Suzuki Filter is like $500 so I ordered a $200 one of eBay. Meanwhile I tried cleaning the one I had while waiting for delivery. I used kerosene, fuel injector cleaner and brake cleaner with compressed air to blow it out. And the stuff that came out was unreal. Pure dark dark greenish gunk came out with a lot of small particles and stunk so bad. Reminded me of the bottom of gutters on a house with all the granules from shingles and mud and stuff. I spent a whole day soaking it with different stuff and blowing it out. And could never get it to stop blowing particles out. I figured after 6 hours of soaking and blowing it had to of been better than it was. Especially after the first time I blowed out all that nasty gunk and dirt. I put it all back in and it ran like a champ for a couple days and would get worse again. Finally got the new filter and it solved all the lack of power symptoms and it's been months since I've had any issues. And it also made a night n day difference in the sound of the pump running. So just saying for people out there. If you have fuel pump issues, change the "main filter" with it. Not just the strainer on the bottom. All the videos I've watched on fuel pumps always call the "strainer " the "filter". But it's not. The "filter" is the big giant plastic canister thing that all the fuel components attach to. And that thing gets severely nasty. And these bikes are super sensitive to fuel pressure. My bike now pulls harder in the top end than I've ever felt it pull even from before when it was running good. Changing that filter makes a huge difference if yours is clogged and gunked up. Believe me people. It was all together 3 week ordeal in the middle of summer replacing pumps and trying to figure out what was going on. Gas tank on n off on n off pump out pump in. Checking this checking that. Big giant pain in the ass. But so far it's been a couple months and I say the $200 Taiwan filter off eBay seems to be performing just fine so far. Still has full power in the top end. So yeah very important part of cleaning your fuel system.

      Yeah, I knew that was the filter and I back flushed it several times and I also saw a bunch of junk come out but I thought it would be good to go but after reading your experience, I will definitely be looking to replace the full filter from now on!

      Thank you so damn much bro. I have my tank on my bench right now and after i got done on the throne it was goinhg back on. Did not know the black box thing was a filter
      But was perplexed to see no other existed besides the strainer..Thanks for takinhg time to share your success with us. Priceless info is sometimes free..

      Figured I would update. Still running like a champ. So I would have to say that those Taiwan filters off eBay are definitely decent so far. Fuel pump still sounds good like it's not struggling. And still have tons of top end power .

    just a noob question, why does it have 8 injectors?

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are two for each cylinder one near the top to mix with incoming air and then the lower is closer to the cylinder to add more of a direct fuel spray in to the combustion chamber. That’s it in a nut shell ha hope that helps.

    Thank you amazing video, how much did everything cost? I have. 2009 gsxr and have a fuel line leak

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The injector cleaning was 100 the new pump was 30 and then random cleaning supplies like carb cleaner and brushes around 20. But for you, you can just go get fuel line from you local automotive store and your all set!

    Did injectors RX service your fuel rail or did you ordered a brand new one

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes the metal fuel rail they did, they just drop it in an ultra sonic cleaner just like they do with all the injectors. I could see caked on vanished fuel so I figured ehhh they can clean it not me lol

  • @TheJdog513
    @TheJdog513 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    How’d you go about getting Injector RX to clean the fuel rail or did you not remove the injectors from it?

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They seem to have a bunch of injector cleaning systems and also stand alone ultra sonic cleaners. So I took everything apart including separating the fuel rail from the injectors and put everything in different plastic bags and sent it off to them and they got every thing super clean for me. Hope this helps!

      @mendingmotos  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TheJdog513 those are welding pliers but you can really use any type of long nosed players, I just needed something with a bit more pitching power because the clips were really stiff yours might come off really easy. Good luck hope this helps.

    What did you do with the paper filter inside the plastic housing?

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Are you refereeing to the air filter? If so I just replaced it. If you are referring to the fuel filter, I replace the fuel pump and plastic fuel filter.

    • @lriper4702
      @lriper4702 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mendingmotos I refer to fuel filter. There are 2 fuel filters. One which connects directly to the fuel pump and another which is inside the plastic housing. The second filter that I mentioned, is the tricky one. Suzuki sell it for €200 and more, so you have to replace it or bypass it by making a hole.

    • @mendingmotos
      @mendingmotos  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@lriper4702 oh you mean the internal screen, I flushed/ back flushed it with carb cleaner and air. I didn’t do the chamber drill mod.
