I loved Robotnik in all three films, but his duo with Stone is also a big part of my enjoyment. Stone is without a doubt one of my favorite characters in these movies. He plays off Robotnik perfectly. So I hope we get to see him again in the next movie, even if Robotnik is really gone.
Eggman to me was always an interesting character to me since my first Sonic game, but when they actually started giving him a more tragic side i started thinking better of him Eggman was done so much justice in the movie franchise and I applaud the writers and Jim Carrey
Gerald in the movie doesn't do what he thinks Maria would have wanted. He only does it for himself. There's literally a scene where Shadow asks if this is what Maria would have wanted, and Gerald replies that this isn't about what Maria would have wanted. It's about what humanity deserves for taking her away. At this point, Gerald is so far gone that he lost sight of what truly matters. This stopped being about Maria long before the movie started, if it ever was about her. It's about what HE considers to be right, not Maria. And that's where he and Shadow differ. Shadow wanted revenge for Maria's sake, and when he realized Maria wouldn't want him to do that, he stopped seeking revenge. But Gerald's revenge is only for his own sake. His insanity literally made him lose sight of what the person he wants to avenge would have wanted. It's only about himself at this point.
I git hit in the stomach when robotnik was mentioning the latte with steamed Austrian goats milk and said "I love the way you them", that delivery was perfect.
tbh I low-key cried when eggman sacrificed himself for humanity but also agent stone. I loved their dynamic in all the 3 movies, it was so so tragic to see agent stone see the one person he loves dies... Like damn.. Their love story is tragic..
(spoilers for sonic movie 3) additionally, whats even more tragic, is that the sonic movies establish that Eggman is an orphan. (with him having a line about it in sonic movie 1.) so for him, this is his first time ever having a family. and Gerald uses that fact to manipulate Eggman. he pretends to care about Ivo right up until the end: up until he get what he wants about him. and that's when he fully drops the facade, hitting us with that absolute heart breaking line of: "oh Ivo, your no maria." and Gerald quickly establishes after that that Ivo was never enough, and was never going to be enough for him. his family died with maria. and god that must be so painful for Robotnik to hear. imagine how many families he went through as an orphan: how many families left him until he eventually grew out of the system. with him probably thinking that he'd never be able to have family by the end of it. only for Gerald to show up, give him a glimmer of hope, and then rip it all away. even mocking him at the end for wanting to say "i love you." god i hate Gerald, fuck that geezer.
Never throught I could relate to Ivo as much I do now... both family rejects and while in his case he just got ignored, in my case I am literally nothing to them... a black sheep unable to do a thing right. And then they wonder why I am so stone cold around people and prefer to go spend time all alone
Eggman's farewell speech to Stone breaks my heart everytime. Though I watched the movie in french since that's my native language, and I didn't understand why Eggman said "You weren't just a bootlicker... you were a bootlicker". I mean it didn't surprise me that he wouldn't directly say "We're friends", but you know it felt like he was still admitting it in that scene, yet he just says the same thing twice. But I realized by looking at the english script that he might not be saying "lèche-bottes" (bootlicker in french) the second time but "lèche-pote" (a pun between "bootlicker" and "pal"). Except I dunno what they did with the voice acting because it just sounds like he says bootlicker twice since the two words are very close in their pronounciation. I mean maybe I didn't hear it well in the theater, and the version I listened to in order to check has bad audio. I'll need to find a version with better audio.
Does Eggman really underestimate Sonic and that's why he fails at this point ? I mean, in Forces he developed his most dangerous weapon yet, and got Sonic beat and locked up for months. The one who underestimated Sonic and ended up causing Eggman's defeat was Infinite. Eggman was enraged when he learned that Infinite let Sonic go. He knows how dangerous Sonic can be to his plans. And this divide between Eggman and Infinite, their inability to properly communicate and get along is what eventually caused their downfall. I mean Eggman is egotistical to a point where he couldn't even get along with himself in Generations, but Infinite is also at fault with his arrogance here, because Eggman was right. He shouldn't have let Sonic go. Well the game isn't subtle about it and it doesn't really express it well either, but it's like Sonic says. Infinite has no real friend he can trust, while Sonic does, he has many. And together they were able to overcome him and Eggman, while these two can't even try to get along. And well, if Infinite was well-written, it would probably have enraged him to hear Sonic tell him that, considering that all of his friends that he trusted were killed by Shadow (the Jackal Squad). I mean that was unsurprising poor writing here obviously, Shadow doesn't kill. But I personally think that this could be explained by Shadow only knocking them out as he usually does. And then, something else killed them soon after Shadow left. Something that lurks in the shadows. And since it didn't make itself get seen, everyone assumes Shadow did it. And this being who acts in the shadows, whatever it is, could eventually reveal itself (or be found out) and be the main antagonist of a future game. I think it would be a cool way to explain this inconsistency of Shadow being said to have killed the Jackal Squad even though the real Shadow doesn't kill.
“Eggman is one of the most human characters in the entire franchise.”
Robotnik is usually the *only* human across the entire franchise
I mean, Eggman didn't sacrifice himself for humanity. He did it for Agent Stone.
Eggman did it to prove Eggman rules🎯❤️🔥
They started using this ideology in Frontiers with his relationship with Sage, and now they made it more prominent in Sonic 3
I relate to robotnik the most, the younger version of me feels like him.
glad u could relate to him :)

i completely agree!
4:55 It wasn’t even about what Maria wanted, he was just festering in his own grief and hatred.
If I can’t rule the world I might as well save it

Dr Robotnik❤️🩹
You hit the nail on the head I loved all of the characters in this film and the end of Eggman's story was protection.

I like your art, I've subscribed!

Sonic Movie 3 humanizing Eggman would be enough reason to make Pariah hate the movie 😂
01:43 - Spoilers to the video ahead:
Gerald is alive, most likely because he used Shadow's quills to keep himself alive
I don’t really have much to say, but I loved the video ❤
thank you sm! that’s all that means to me :3
