I've read sturgeon meat is best smoked. And given the meat is still very much the side product, it shouldn't be that expensive, especially if you live somewhere that has these caviar growers nearby. I live in eastern Finland, one small town south of us grows caviar. Just telling the owner of any grocery store that sells fresh fish that you would like some sturgeon meat and they get it for next day, price per kilogram not being a whole lot.
Just like a tuna meat. Sturgeon has a refined flavor and consistency. You can enjoy the charm of the fish meat by eating it as sashimi, sushi and marinading it. Even when boiled, you can enjoy the tender texture of sturgeon.
For anyone who is critcizing the living conditions and euthanizing methods at this farm, you should consider that these fish live considerably better than most livestock. Welfare standards at this farm in particular look acceptable. Animals raised for food are almost never raised in that great of a way. That’s just the truth. Even the biopsy would not have hurt as much as branding, dehorning and castration. So anyone who is calling THIS cruel better be a pretty f-in dedicated vegan as not to be a hypocrite.
There’s a fish hatchery in north GA where me and me grandfather are allowed to fish. I sprays loved looking at the little pools with the sturgeon in them
It’s a fish not your mom, calm yourself. They also place the fish in water that has a mild electric field so they are sedated. Just like we sedate or anesthetize people to biopsy them.
Code Name Oh, yes. It feels so good to be mildly shocked in the water we’re submerged in. It’s more like being incapacitated so there isn’t resistance when being jabbed in the belly.

Well its not fertilized eggs i believe...Its more like someone putting you in a bath of ice and instead of stealing your kidneys, they take out your ovaries and harvest the eggs inside
Well, is that a big difference? "Imagine living in that small tank for 7 years only to be killed when you lay eggs." I'd say not much difference in terms of the meaning behind.
Ok I don’t think they should make caviar cause it’s not a necessity and I would understand if like there was to many sturgeon but theirs not so it’s just sad and that after 7 years of living in a tank and then only being killed for your eggs and honestly that is just messed up
I’m actually glad that a place like the exist with high quality standards and uses the whole fish and not just the eggs. There are places that will just kill the fish for the eggs and throw the rest away which is a total waste with no quality control. Like others have said this kind of place is great as it doesn’t wipe a whole species of fish out as they are captive fish they use and wait till the fish itself is ready to be harvested instead of just snatching it up at the first sign of roe.
It’s not a matter of alive or not, it’s a matter of sentience and suffering. I don’t have any problem with using a brain dead mans body as dog feed if he chooses to do that.
Kenji I do agree with you 100% but this people are trying to sell the idea that the fish are not tortured, the biopsy part was like a ridiculous scene from family guy show.
It can be done, that is what we do here at KASPERSKIAN Caviar in Switzerland. Our sturgeon produce their caviar naturally over a long and healthy lifetime, not just once but many times.
Chinese just cut off shark fins and throw them back into the water to drown. Mind you deluded people will tell themselves anything to forgive themselves. Peasants used to just squeeze the eggs out.

It was three different fish and they were put in water with some electro current to make them calm so I think they were fine
Brienne Wolf right I noticed that I was thinking is a screwdriver the professional tool used for proper extraction of caviar
Don't tell me I'm the only one that finds these satisfying
Tried to call a doctor but they said I needed a sturgeon
You know what.. I'm not even mad lmao
Your story sounds very fishy
lol
I must say that your story is eggcelent!😂 i'll walk myself out...
On The Bus Podcast will you need to get sturgery?
These comments are 70 percent mad about the fish 20 percent about Amy schumer and 10 percent laughing about the comments themself.
Great observation other than the previous mentioned in your comment about percentages
She does kinda look like Amy Schumer tho. Also makes jokes like her. At least she isn't a self proclaimed comedian

I sprays loved looking at the little pools with the sturgeon in them
That biopsy looked painful.
A stab in the gut. Very insensitive
It’s a fish not your mom, calm yourself. They also place the fish in water that has a mild electric field so they are sedated. Just like we sedate or anesthetize people to biopsy them.
HindsightPOV Fish don’t feel pain..

Are you serious? Fish are vertebrates. They have a spine like humans do. They can definitely feel pain.

Oh, yes. It feels so good to be mildly shocked in the water we’re submerged in. It’s more like being incapacitated so there isn’t resistance when being jabbed in the belly.

Well its not fertilized eggs i believe...Its more like someone putting you in a bath of ice and instead of stealing your kidneys, they take out your ovaries and harvest the eggs inside
dont you eat chicken eggs??
Imagine living in that small tank for 7 years only to be killed for your eggs
The fish don't get pregnant. They lay eggs. They're mostly virgins anyway since they don't reach maturity until they're 7 or 8 years old anyway.
Ethan Jones I was going to say that. Glad someone knew that.
Well, is that a big difference? "Imagine living in that small tank for 7 years only to be killed when you lay eggs." I'd say not much difference in terms of the meaning behind.
You're a vegan aren't you? Or maybe a peta supporter? Oh well, more delicious animal based food for me. Have fun battling scurvy and anemia.
Ok I don’t think they should make caviar cause it’s not a necessity and I would understand if like there was to many sturgeon but theirs not so it’s just sad and that after 7 years of living in a tank and then only being killed for your eggs and honestly that is just messed up
Did she just stab the fish in 4:12 like its nothing! :))))))))
She knows what she's doing.
Lol u ppl r so close minded, and sensitive..
Well.. that's the point
Just a biopsy :)
If you made a lot of money for it I bet you would do the same
I’m actually glad that a place like the exist with high quality standards and uses the whole fish and not just the eggs.

Everything you consume is alive. There is no non living thing you can consume without worrying about harming. Lion King, circle of life.
It’s not a matter of alive or not, it’s a matter of sentience and suffering. I don’t have any problem with using a brain dead mans body as dog feed if he chooses to do that.
Bakemono! HUMANS ARE DESTROYING AND EATING EVERYTHING! A disease, not a circle of life. After all, who eats humans?!

I wish there a way to take the caviar out without killing the fish
There is a way to do it
It can be done, that is what we do here at KASPERSKIAN Caviar in Switzerland. Our sturgeon produce their caviar naturally over a long and healthy lifetime, not just once but many times.
There are ways, but most times it’s not very effective.
It can be done by hormone therapy

I've tried black caviar 3-4 times, it was the kind they sold at Costco for a short while. You have to eat it with a pearl spoon since metal or wood spoils the taste
Why is Amy Schumer so into caviar.
I remember a time where my friend and I got caviar for like 350$ for fun and there’s ups and downs. The up is that the texture and taste it pretty good. But the down is the price and how for such little it is soooo much.
