I learned so much from these two videos! SO MUCH! I appreciate how you explained all the fundamentals behind the choices you made. (When you renamed the mirror layer I was like, "I wonder why he picked that layer instead of the other one?", and then two seconds later you explained it lol.) As someone who teaches myself software for a living so I can train others, I tried a couple other beginner videos, but these are the ones I'm gonna recommend to others. Thanks a ton!
@@drugfreedave you’re welcome ☺️ I’m looking for a tutorial that shows how to cut a half circle out of a part. My goal is to cut a section out of the front of a jewelry ring and slide beads into it. So it would have to leave a bit of an overhang to hold the beads inside.
@Margo1968 make the shape you want to extract, select the ring and shape, tap the eye for the shape to hide it, then tap Boolean, I have a couple vids for it 👍🏾
@@drugfreedavesweet!!! Ok so here’s another one. This tutorial we just followed, I want to turn it into a salt & pepper shaker. I watched your pumpkin video on how to hollow it out.. but how would you cut the bottom out & make it so it pops back in to stay closed?
Hello Mr Reed, I’m at the 26:52 marker and I don’t see the option for softness in the advance settings panel. I can see the shadows, but the softness option is missing entirely, I’m on the latest version of nomad, where do I find the softness slider? I checked the official site and couldn’t find an answer there either. Any insight on this is appreciated thank you sir! I’m having fun making a cute fruit as my first nomad project
So glad you’re enjoying it!! I think that may have been a slider from a previous version of nomad; I just checked and don’t see it either. So it’s not you! Haha, it does get tricky when things change from version to version! 🙌🏾😊💫
Thank you sir for the speedy reply! I hope there’ll be a work around in the future, lastly, I’m finding the light to be frustrating to manipulate, but watching your video, I happen to notice your arrows on your gizmo remained perpendicular no matter the orientation, on my end the arrows are diagonal and follow the direction of the rings. And your gizmo reticle is more white and visible. How do I achieve both of these effects to my gizmo?
Amazing! Thanks a lot. I ran into a little problem wiith the shading. I tried to apply sub surface to the eyes and it said SSS required PBR shading. I had no idea how to solve that and had to delete the eyeball and start new. These quirks that are part of the learning curve I suppose
How would you make an iceream bar dripping ? I made the drips out of cylinders and then stretched them out from the vertex but when i voxel remesh them to the main bar, i get weird seems :/ i want it to look like all one piece
question, you never answered it in the first video but how do i make smooth shading my auto? I hate turning it on for everything but if i click auto it has it as off
I can’t do the glove ❌😵🙅🏾♂️😂 - there is a palm rejection setting, and also set it so your hand isn’t used as a tool is good enough for me. Sometimes I accidentally hit a tool or something but it’s not that bad
Hey. I noticed that you gave the mouth a curve by using the move tool with symmetry at 11:46, but when I tried to do it myself in the middle, nothing happened . Only the edges of the tube are movable/bendable. I don’t understand what I’m doing wrong….
how is your material so matte? i've been messing with the settings and can't figure out how to make my stuff not glossy. also great video!! your voice is very calming.
Thank you! 😊- for a matte finish, just put the roughness meter up! Tap the little color sphere on the left bottom panel and you can adjust the level of gloss/roughness and metallic/non-metallic 👍🏾
If you’ve remeshed shapes with various symmetries it won’t align (especially if anything was off axis (tilted or shifted) you can use the gizmo edit tool, but it may not be precisely symmetrical!
Hello. I am Japanese. I'm writing the English text through translation, so I'm sorry if the words are weird. I wanted to master Nomad Sclupt, so I found your video and tried it out. It was really easy to understand! I have a question. After setting the quality value to 2.0, the app's processing became heavy and slow. Is it okay to change the quality value during the final work before exporting? Also, I'm using a 7th generation iPad with 128GB specs, so I wonder if it has something to do with the slower performance...?
Hello! Yes, you should sculpt everything when not laggy, then do post process and all of that last. Mine gets slow too with post process in high, it’s normal! 👍🏾😊
Solo is just to see the item with nothing else. I did that just to show what I was trimming (the character bottom) but I use the floor to know where to trim, so solo is not activated when trimming. Just make sure the body is selected so it doesn’t accidentally trim the floor
I’m sorry to be a pain but I have been at this since last night & my frustration is through the roof. I’m trying to print the object from this tutorial hollow with a hole in the bottom for salt n pepper shakers. It is clearly hollow in bambu studio before I slice it. When printing it starts out with the hole ok then a little ways up it closes off the hole like the inside is solid. I’m thinking it has to be the slicing settings but I’m fairly new to printing & have tried every setting I can think of. Please save my sanity.
Best of luck with that! I’m new to printing as well, I stopped for the season due to the cold weather causing fails among other things. Could be a million and one things to be honest, I’d try printing smaller versions at different angles and see if any work 👍🏾
Why can't I see the floating Gizmo button on screen to see 'before-validation options' ? It's annoying how Nomad keep changing positioning of the icons, makes harder for beginners to understand.

Try split?
Awesome tutorial so far! Thank you! Now I’m kinda stuck , I don’t see “softness” under shadow…
Ah yes, it seems that’s from an older version of nomad, I don’t have it anymore either! 👍🏾😊
I just had the same issue! I did a quick search and I think the "Angle" slider does a similar effect, it softened the hard shadow I had on mine
hi!! love your videos! always so excited to do the next tutorial with you :)
Amazing video! I followed your tutorial but instead I made him a sort of plant duck! Super helpful!!
Great info, i modeled this little guy and printed him out thank you for the class

In the little sun tab 🔅under shading, the first option should be Lit (PBR) you may still be in Matcap 👍🏾
Hi! Thank you for the tutorial! I have a question. How are all of the shapes you add automatically smooth? Like the edges aren't straight/harsh.
Thanks!! Also check the description for the video about why shapes aren’t smooth, might help! 🤘🏾

im struggling to make the light bright like yours. i used the same settings but it’s still dim. how do i fix this? 🙁
Keep up da Great work man!👊

How do you prevent unintentional input from the side of your hand i wear a glove that barely helps?

how did you paint him like you did in the thumbnail?

You have to voxel remesh it first, otherwise it acts weird like that!
@@drugfreedave it worked. Thank you very much. I just bought the program yesterday.

Do you have a tutorial on how to cut away a section?
Hmm, trim or split?
how did you give the pudge in the end a blush??
my lighting doesnt have a softness option for shadows :( im unsure why
It’s probably the specific type of light you’re using, some don’t have the option 👍🏾
I made a character but my symmetry got messed up body and head does not align with world center and I am too ahead to push it around what should I do?
