As a child of the 70s............... the warm beautiful feeling i"m having now just watching this again...... i watched THIS edition of Pebble Mill..LIVE.... I am sure this was 1981.............. Bless eric and ernie always............ AND Donny Macleod.... A pleasure always...................................
It's so hard not to laugh out loud at these two fantastic comedians. They definitely brought sunshine not only into my heart but to millions around the world. This was absolutely comedy genius, Ernie being called the world's greatest playwright and Eric saying at the end,"thank you for coming on our show". Absolutely timeless! Wish the world had people like Eric and Ernie who knew how to make people laugh without smut.
By 1981, Morecambe and Wise had left the BBC for nearly three years and worked at ITV (Thames Television) where their shows started to fall in quality and ratings, due to a large amount of use of rehashed BBC era material. In 1981, the duo were on a BBC show to promote their new book.
Yes, Donnie says one of their coming guests would be Nadia, and also mentioned the pop group Bucks Fizz; who probably would perform their latest hit and, typically later, another from their catalogue to close the show.
I'm doing that a lot , but I don't drink 😅 I'll have to remember that one ! Here's how an alcoholic punk came to be free of his addiction: th-cam.com/video/yb8Qj4eQjIE/w-d-xo.html

Eric and Ernie on Pebble Mill at One. This is brilliant, thank you so very much.
He was just a naturally funny man; you just couldn't help but warm to him!

It's also lovely to see Donny MacLeod. He was a really good broadcaster.
He was a fantastic broadcaster. Very much forgotten now, sadly, as he died at a relatively young age.
I love these two. They still have me in stitches.
Very well executed sketch. Funny guys.
I adore Eric and Ernie, always have and always will.
Still bloody brilliant 😂
I miss ERIC and ERNIE so much. The world is not the same without them.R.I.P to the both of them.

I remember watching the Thames Television shows at the time and really enjoying them, but yeah not quite their peak days at the BBC.
IKONS including Pebble Mill all gone - sad.....
Eric looks like he's got ectoplasm coming out of him with the cloth over his face.Perhap Eric and Ernie could have gotten into spirit photography!
Ernie looks shattered
Sadly yes
Did he say Nadia Comaneci?
Certainly sounds like it. I could ask my Dad who would know if she was a guest or not.
@@benseymour3242 thanks. Nadia Comăneci is our most beloved gymnast (Romanian) . She won got the first perfect 10 at the Olympics in Montreal.

Loved them in their heyday but seems so dated nowadays
Totally disagree. True comedy, like that from these two, Two Ronnies, Kenny Everett, Minty Pithons etc never ages.
Totally disagree also, Eric & Ernie are timeless humour bar a few dated referances.
I have a question can you please tell me when this edition of pebble Mill at one was broadcast please the date and time. Thank you.
i would say the 80's eric hair and ernie's hair look older
Apparently it was 40 years ago today which would track with Bucks Fizz and Nadia Comaneci
Apparently 1981 was the year , but no idea what time Pebble Mill at ONE was broadcast at .........I'd guess mmmm about half past Christmas ??‽
