- Want to be a part of Native Camp? Well, beware of Admin FRANCIS!!! In my 6 months of teaching and referring teachas in NC, I have always read about the terror demo facilitated by Admin Francis. He is one of the most challenging “students” of Native Camp’s PASS OR FAIL demo class. A lot of teachers FAIL their demo when faced with admin Francis!!
This is the reason why I made this video. I want us to prepare for the most CHALLENGING TRAP QUESTIONS for the demo class for BOTH materials:

I just want to thank you Teacha Karen for making videos about Native Camp. It is very informative and it really help me big time. I passed my DEMO in my first take with Admin Nelly. She is very soft spoken to the point that it washes your nervousness away. Hahaha. The question she asked me is "He COOK it with meat and vegetables." Then I explained the subject-verb agreement. And more questions about class flow. Then she congratulated me with a happy voice. My heart is so happy that I got to meet such a joyful admin. I'm also sharing this because I know there is someone out there who is looking in the comment section a positive feedback of his/her DEMO class. You got this. WE got this!
She even said, "You are shocked when I answered your first question correctly." With a laugh. Hahaha so guys, be prepared. They also watch TH-cam Tutorials. Haha

Haha. I came across Admin Francis on my 2nd demo trial. Made few corrections and gave me a second chance
Thank you for sharing teacher Karen. Admin Francis asked me why we use "if" in (Do you mind if I closed the windows?)
I told him it's because the situation is in second conditional hence the verb is in simple past. He told me I was good more than twice but still cut me off after asking this grammar question. The second Admin asked two questions, 1. What's the difference between "ed" and "ing" 2. What's the difference between "phrase" and "sentence". I answered both questions correctly since they were too easy anyway, without even googling them and he kind of scolded me and told me the manual says teachers shouldn't explain things. Well, the thing is this was a demo, not a real lesson. He asked me too many questions which I answered correctly. I was merely answering the many questions they both asked but they both went on to cut me off. I got the impression the questions they asked were scripted and if you get 100% in their grammar assessment (which I did) they really want to fry you as much as possible. There are many online schools out there, if Native Camp doesn't accept you just move on he next to one. You have nothing to loose. Bless up

This is quite upsetting. I kinda felt being fried on purpose too ... and being cut off as well. Honestly, it wasn't a pleasant thing to experience knowing my teaching tenure and credibility. Though, I chose to see it in a different perspective... like I'mma prove you guys wrong... or maybe they kinda fry us to really bring out the best in us... maybe they do this since they're looking for the best of the best (who are willing to be fried LOL)
At the end of the day, it's our choice....to stay or not.

It's funny kasi I watched a lot of your videos while preparing for my demo and I was like "hopefully Hindi si admin Francis". BUT he was the admin when I took my demo kahapon. He was nice naman, his voice was calm as well but he did cut me off 😅 he told me I was not energetic enough(?) But I don't see it as enough reason to stop the demo when it was only 3-5 minutes in. Before he left he told me "Don't worry, I'm not failing you"
Then I met admin Aerhome. He was amazing! Di din ako nakapasa BUT he gave me a lot of tips, an admin that actually tells you where you lack so you can learn but also praises you that you did well. He saw my potential and said it's not enough to fail me so he wanted me to retake. I hope siya ulit sa last retake ko and I'll apply everything that I've learned from him.
Maybe you attracted the energy, kaya napunta ka kay Francis heheheh on the brighter side, I honestly think that he brings out the best in us by giving us the ultimate challenge for this application LOL I hope you got in!!!! :) Best of luck!
thank you very much Karen, i have been glued on your channel for hours now, very helpful especial the demo videos. it is where in heading next as i passed my system check. quick question where do i find the tab with two material? to prepare, i cant seem to find it on native camp page as it is stuck on me submitting the demo
You have to click take demo :) then it will take you to the Native Camp where you can access the textbook tab :)

I actually came across admin Francis and failed on my first demo right away. When I ask, please read Today's goal, he simply said I read it but I don't understand it, can you explain it to me. So I panicked but tried my best to explain ( because I followed the demo lesson by heart and did not bother to even read Today's Goal because on the script the student was supposed to do it), and because I panicked, I jumped to ( well basically included in my explanation) Today's Phrase. He then cut me off and stopped the demo. Said that my teaching was good (I'm not sure about that since he cut me off, hahahha) but I failed to ask the student if he understands my explanation. I acknowledge right away that I failed to do that. He then said, he will not fail me but give me another chance and that I need to study my lesson well. So here I am, researching for more tips. Good to come across your video teacha.
He meant he silently read "Today's Goal". Now the question is, does he have to read it aloud? or simply reading it would be fine? it's usually on the script/teaching flow.

You just have to watch the self-training videos and answer the short quizzes. These are basically courses to help you teach the different lessons available in Native Camp.

Thank you soooooo sooooo much for your series of videos on Native Camp! I am hoping to apply sometime soon to supplement my income. I run an ESL school from my home already, and because I've been working for myself for so long, I have literally forgotten what it is like to be interviewed for a job! Thinking about it makes me so anxious and nervous! But after finding your videos here, and watching them religiously (whilst taking copious amounts of notes! xD) I feel much better about my chances of NOT screwing up! Just a question though, once you have passed the demo and your account is activated and you are managing to get booked lessons, is it possible to see what that student will be studying before the lesson so you can prepare for it? Or do you just find out once it starts? During your 'self training' do you get access to all their materials in order to study them before you start actually taking on lessons? Sorry if you have already explained this somewhere!
Hi Stephanie, I'm happy to help. Will be uploading more useful content soon (I'm just so busy with my infant. Being a first time mom is kinda driving me crazy sometimes ....in a good way LOL). About your question, yes we get to see the teaching material before our class starts (actually, from the moment, the student books your class). However, they have an option to change the material on the spot while in your class, thus you'd have no time to review / prepare.

Why the verb closed is already in the past tense, tho i answered, its 2nd conditional tense then i explain but he want to make it more clear w/c student can easily understand.. I duno how😭..
Unfortunately, explaining something well is another skill set worth mastering as an ESL teacha. Don't worry, it may take a while but it can be done. What's important is you truly understand the concept. Then try to practice how to explain it to an advanced adult, a beginner adult and a child.
This video is so informative and helpful. I passed my demo and moved on to completing my profile. However I can't still plot my schedule because my profile hasn't been approved yet. How long will it take for my profile to get approved? Is there a way to follow up?
Usually we gotta wait 5-7 days. I suggest you take the self- study courses and get more teaching badges while waiting.

I have a question Teacher Karen. I have signed up for Native Camp. My question is , can you see a payment page on Native Camp? I was with VIPKID and we had an account /payment page that allowed us to see how much we were earning . Does Native Camp have something similar?
Yes they do, that's usually available 2-3 days after the cut off :)

it depends on your potential. Others are not given a retake, others are given as many as 6
I from SA I failed my demo n reason was to study my lessons of which I did but I’m wondering if they do accept SAs at NC? I would love to be part of the family with all my heart

Yveee Hi I am also from South Africa. They do accept South Africans but as Teacher Karen said that they trick us. I was also tricked but my main fault was I forgot to make eye contact because I could hear them but not see them. All the best with the next try.

Yes, they only hired teachers with 6 months teaching experience.

Callan is one of the teaching materials in Native Camp. It is a direct method of learning English. Students get to learn through repetition in this material. I believe there are certain qualifications to be a Callan tutor.
Callan is a teaching method / style. I am actually NOT a fan of it simply because it is scripted, fast-paced and repetitive for ME. Just not my cup of tea :) You get to teach students a lot of different vocabulary and sentence patterns in just a short time, though there is very little or no room for rapport, teacher-student relationship and lesson planning.
I prefer admin Frances than ma'am Jez😅

Why should the singular pronoun "I" take plural verb when in fact they are talking about one person?
Example: I LIKE to sing.
Why not I LIKES to sing.

I know about the first person rule but why plural ang verb?

I would only say that I (like "We") uses the first person point of view, thus the verbs should be plural.

Arhome is a bad one, he rejects you in less than 3 minutes with a minor dictation mistake. He does not even listen to you.
