I wonder why we even do something if we die in the end. What difference does our existence make if it won't matter after a trillion years? He too had dreams and thought that he had time. We will all be gone some way or another

Hey new subscriber here. I suppose you are already familiar with Paul Heaston, who also uses first person view in his most of his sketches and is also awesome with perspective, starting a sketch by drawing your own sketchbook really forces you to place yourself in the scene. Both him and Kim Jung Gi are the biggest well of motivation for me at the moment. Congrats for the good content!

I hope people take the actual message in this video: There's no such thing as drawing from Imagination. From an interview with Kim Jung Gi, he himself said that he has a very big internal library he built up from observation and practice. He drew everything he saw, at any moment of the day. Now he did admit he has a great visual memory, which helps a lot, but that's something everyone can develop. He drew countless numbers of cars and engines for example, so if he needed to draw an engine, he knew what it was supposed to look like. It's a skill which takes a lot of practice which is what a lot of people just don't recognize as being part of the drawing process. Just an example: putting animal heads on humanoid characters, is "easy" if you know how to draw humans, and you know how to draw the animal you're trying to get the head off of. You'll need to know the anatomy (for how to place muscles for example), you need to know how to draw the scales or fur etc. You'll be able to put these things together to make something which looks like it could exist.
Even the way he drew without construction lines, which is what a lot of people want, came from tons of practice and studies.
To people struggling, don't feel bad about using reference to learn. Everyone needs to do it, or the things you draw will look off. You need to build up your internal library so you can "imagine" the specific thing you want to draw. Noone's starting off with: ok, you can't draw anything, now start drawing a seagull from how you remember it. I can guarantee it won't go well since you most likely don't even know what a seagull looks like in reality (even if you've seen them regularly, there's many nuances in every "portrait" you haven't picked up on).
So keep practicing, and you will get better. Build up that internal library, draw everything, in different angles, and you'll start to realize how to turn things around to other perspectives and draw them in different poses. It'll take a lot of practice, but you can get there if you have fun drawing :).
So in the end: good video :D

  • @MagnaEssence
    @MagnaEssence ปีที่แล้ว +1

That is...AMAZING!!!, and actually something i used to do when i was little, -except for the part where he draws things that aren't there, To be there...i am SUPER good at it, since always.
💀There is actually a funny problem i have though, where i can draw/paint things that i have seen, from memory, well...
but, i can't draw or paint things that i imagine...-if i do, it's VERY difficult and takes many, many tries, and even then, it is still not what i wanted.
-THAT, is why i make my videos "animations" (where i draw what i see in my dreams) but if i were to be like...a cartoon artist or something where i imagine, it would take WEEKS
    for one, single image.
It's not actually that bad to not have the ability to draw what i imagine, and only to be able to copy what i see, but MAYBE this video will help me,
because i would REALLY like to do some more things that I, come up with (still to fit in to my videos ofcourse, like this one "stage" that i made for an outro once)
-but i would like to put more things like that in, without taking 2 months on it..
The only exception where i would need to update my drawings/art from memory is when i TRY to figure out how to do a certain look, but can't because i didn't have the brush or knowledge,
Or, if i couldn't tell what was "off" with a picture i drew from a dream before and had some like...epiphany about how to make it look right because i was blind about it.
Thank you sir for this video and observation!!!.

Everyone has their own gift or talent. Drawing without construction lines from imagination is unique to Kim Gung Gi. Find out what your gift is. It’s good to learn from Gung Gi but you cannot wear his shoes you have your own. Again find your gift or talent that’s unique to you. Ask God and pray to the God of Israel or God the Father. Ask him what your gift is and once you find it you will shine your own unique way. I had to learn this the hard way I kept trying to be like Gi but there’s nothing wrong about learning his style just don’t be bummed if you can’t draw like him. It’s ok. 👍
