    After owner a Delta 10” table saw since 1989, I just bought this saw. My impression upon completing a twelve foot farm table and small bath vanity is that this saw is wonderful. 10/10.

    Great review. My old Porter Cable saw is about ready for the scrap yard, so I've watched several reviews to help me pick a replacement. Some of the "TH-cam star wannabees" are so in love with hearing themselves talk, and some are so distracting with the overdubbed music. What a relief to find a straight to the point and real review. Thank you sir, I am a new subscriber and fan.

      Thank you Harry F
      The saw does everything I need it to do. I make sure I clean it, and all my tools after every use. This will ensure that the saw works flawlessly every time.
      I was also looking at the Skill - worm drive saw. But I decided not to go with that one due to the fact that you have to add oil to it on occasion.
      The Saw Stop was looked at momentarily, but I just couldn’t see myself dropping $1500 on a saw just for the name.
      I’ve used Dewalt tools for 20 years and they’ve always held up.
      Stay Safe Brother!

    Good review, Mr. Shavers! The little flip-over auxiliary fence is mounted on a sliding bracket, and it supports wide panels when you have the fence way out to the right or left. Flip that little fence over and it drops down to serve as a table extension to keep the panel edge at the same height as the saw table. It's an ingenious little add-on; the DeWalt engineer that came up with this feature should get raise. I've had the Ver 1 of this saw for more than five years and it is a real peach of a shop tool. Also, make yourself a small crosscut sled; the miter gauge the saw comes with is the weakest component in the package. It's easy to make your own throat plates (see Matthew Wandel's channel for a how-to).

    • @jamesshaverswoodworks3697
      @jamesshaverswoodworks3697  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Amen and Amen. That comment was very informative and scholarly. I made myself a cross cut sled as well and I am also eyeing the small parts sled from Rockler. This saw works every time.
      Thanks for the insight Sir!!!!

      Are you really able to put the square (or something flat) on the fully extended fence with thin fence set as a support/extension? Does it look leveled with the surface of the table? On mine, rails are sagging and that results in a dip. Especially when the fence is on the left hand side. Even moving the fence itself (left hand side) on the table's surface feels like dragging. Are you btw aware of a fix for that? Thanks

    Great review. I've had this saw for 3 months on a great deal for £475 inc stand. I've seen lots of tutorials, and the saw is very intuitive, everything has its place. It's accurate and cuts well. Dust extraction is a must. Rack and pinion adjustment is excellent. Reduces my job sime significantly.

    Correction. 5:04 That flip over piece is made to support the material being ripped when the fence is adjusted out past the table surface as it is at 4:34. When you have it adjusted out that far you are supposed to flip this piece over and it supports the plywood so it doesn't try to flop down into that open space between the fence and the table.

    Great video, and review. I laughed when you said that a Sawstop costs 23 grand! I don't think they cost that much but I remember seeing a review by a Sawstop owner being pretty upset because he felt like the company nickel and dimes you for every accessory from the moveable wheel base to the overhead dust extractor.
    BTW I just purchased this saw on Amazon because it is on sale at a great price. If there ever comes a day when I feel that I really need to upgrade this table saw I am pretty sure I will invest in a Laguna Fusion F2 table saw. It has a nice cast iron table, heavy duty fence, moveable base and all the bells and whistles for less than 2 grand. Hey we can all dream, right? Thanks again.

      You may have gotten a bad fence. I haven’t had any type of issue with mine. I know there are a few adjustment screws on each side of the fence. You may want to try adjusting the fence by tightening or loosing the screws for square. If this doesn’t work - you probably got a bad fence!

    Good evening, what is this model? I am considering buying DEWALT DWE7485, for the installation of doors, stairs. I look at the small wheels on the saw stand, can't I carry it up the steps? How is it accurate, a large deviation of the parallel stop relative to the disk? They say that a thin table, over time, due to the severity of the engine, a hole appears in the middle of the table.

    • @jamesshaverswoodworks3697
      @jamesshaverswoodworks3697  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The model Number for this saw is DWE79491RS. You can roll it up the steps, If you're looking for something more portable, check out the Dewalt portable table saw, Model # DWE7485. It's smaller but packs the same punch as its larger brother. The accuracy is what you make of it, you may need to check the levels once you set it up, but that's on any saw. From the Saw stop, Powermatic, Grizzle, or the Felder sliding saws. I've seen guys use cheap saws and get accurate cuts and I've seen guys use expensive saws and get horrible cuts. Either way, I use Dewalt tools daily - They hold up, they are strong and the warranty is solid.

      Tim, I went with this 10 inch because before I retired, we used the older model of the Dewalt 10 inch table saw. Dewalt seems to hold up, I have Dewalt drills, sanders, planners and by thing else Dewalt makes. They provide power, durability and have been proven reliable.
      Don’t get m wrong Sir. I own Festool, Rigid, and any other tool brand known to man. I looked at the Saw Stop but I just didn’t want to drop the $$$$ on a saw. My neighbor across the street has an Industrial Saw Stop, so if I need to use it - I’ll use his.
      This Dewalt saw has done everything I’ve asked it to do!

    Great review James.
    Is it still working well after six months?
    Is the riving knife/splitter adjustable ?
    Thanks, you got a Sub from me

      Yes Sir, still working great. Any time I have an issue, it’s not with the saw it’s with me. Before I retired, I was a 9-5 carpenter and the company I worked for supplied is Dewalt tools. We beat them up, dropped them and abused them fir years. They kept functioning. I own a few Festool products, Rigid, Ryobe, Craftsman, Milwaukee and anything else that functions. Either way, I didn’t want to spend $1000.0000 on a saw just for the break. Either way, This saw works great!

      I do not think the riving knife is adjustable. But I do know that SHARK GUARD makes them. They sell a lot of cool items.

      The riving knife/splitter is mounted to the motor's trunion. When used with a 10" blade, it is always at the correct height because it raises and lowers with the blade itself.

    Best review out there ! Do you think it could cut off 8/4 oak or maple ?

    • @jamesshaverswoodworks3697
      @jamesshaverswoodworks3697  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mateo, thanks for the comment Sir, I have cut through oak, maple, cherry, walnut all the hard woods. One thing though. I would probably invest in another blade, a better blade other than the factory one. Try a Forrest blade. Or a CMT blade, orange blade. They are cheaper than the Forrest but they cut great. Also, another great saw with lots of power that is not as expensive as the SawStop but had a bit more power than the Dewalt is the Skill - Work Drive Blade. The only draw back with that saw is that you must keep it filled with Oil, either way both saws will do what you are needing!
      Stay safe and God Bless

    your setup is nice but could be better lol you need to get a electric on/off foot pedal for that vaccum and put it right under the table saw and after ever cut just step on the foot pedal to turn of vaccum ....simple and they cost nomore than 20$........i use a foot pedal attached to my vaccum for my miter saw and table saw lol i cringed seeing you have to walk around to keep hittin the on/off switch on the vaccum

      Thanks for the advise. That saw is usually rolled away. I use my Dewalt track saw to cut down sheets to size. When I do pull it out, I have it dedicated to a Dust right vac.

    And please, use the push stick on the wood by the fence. Nobody want to see you, or something around you get hurt. 🍻

    If you are going to review this shouldn't you check that it comes square out of the box? I never once saw you with a tape measure or any form of measuring tool to check that this thing was worth top dollar.
