Whats the deal? Whats the problem with ticks? I've had a nervous tick since my son was born, permethrin has done nothing for it either!!!

Permethrin and Picaridin! Two years and no tics, that's over 24 weekends in tic season. I also get mine from Tractor Supply. I've figured the mix ratio to match Sawyer's and I wrote that on the Permethrin bottle. I also hit my tent and hammock heavy. I take great pleasure in watching tics drop onto my tent them take a body count inn the morning.
Right on 🤘. I've watched mosquitos fall off the tent but haven't gotten to see the ticks.

I'll take the mosquitos over the ticks. But both need to go away lol.
I've never tried the lotion. I have some but I am lazy and always take the spray. You had me at "no biting flies".
I've had great luck using it. The flies part was something I figured out last year up in Michigan. Plus it's smaller to carry 🤪
This is great information. The ticks are out in full force here. I am going to have to do this. Does it have a smell to it? How are you liking your new sony?
Thank you. The Sawyer has a more pleasant smell to it than the concentrate which has more of a chemical smell to it. I don't really mind it all that much especially if you treat everything a few days before using it the smell goes away. The Sony is amazing, I'm doing a big/challenge hike in about a week I'm looking forward to using it on.
sounds great. but could you tell us what you are doing outside for this type of preparation. I live near a lake in Central Ontario Canada and need something for just being in the garden and most of the commercial sprays have DEET and are not that good at keeping the mosquito /black flies /or deer flies from biting.
I've had pretty good luck with picaridan sprays like:

With those I've had mosquitoes buzz around but not land. The only fly issue I've had is the stable Flys in Michigan. I don't think anything works on them.
I have never used either of those. I worry that I sweat so much the stuff will absorb into me! Eat lots of garlic it keeps everything away.
Hey if the garlic works keep doing it. Natural is way better.

I'm too scared to use permetherin. I ordered a can of repel tick defense 15 percent picaredin. I hope it works for mosquito and tiks dayhiking

We also treat as needed rather than all the gear at once. I want that permethrin fresh!!!
I've been known to reapply to my clothes after only 1 wash.

Does this keep the mosquitoes and flies from landing on your face and gear or will they still be able to land and bite?
I've had good luck using both products and had no ticks. Mosquitoes will start to get me as I sweat, and the bug stuff wears off. I just need to reapply and I'm good. Biting Flys are 50/50. I've had the best luck with them after a fresh application of bug lotion.
