    Thank you, Robert. I’m sure going to miss your daily videos. One thing I’d like to thank you for was the quality of your videos. Plus, they were short enough to enjoy, but still give us a sense of being out on the trail with you.

    Thank you for all the good information about your food and resupplies. I was wondering how that worked with sending yourself packages. Hope you're recovering and enjoying being back home. Really looked forward to your progress on the trail this year.

    Thank You for all the information. I’m planning on hiking the end of the AT in Maine only next year you’re videos will be my guide. I’ll probably watch them all winter while looking at my maps and making notes. Great to have a locals opinion. Would love to pick your brain. I’m originally from New England and plan on returning and making Maine my home after my hike. I live in the Mojave Desert now. I miss trees so much. Thanks again ☮️

    Interesting that you didn’t cook any meals, especially during the cold months, but it certainly worked for you. I will be trying out the Huel on my next hike. Thank you for sharing.

    Hi I am really excited about learning how to snowshoe this winter and wonder if you could talk about this in one of your next videos...Thanks! We miss you...

      Thank you! I usually go snowshoeing in the Bigelow's and so forth a couple times during the winter... Hopefully I can get out this winter and will be certain to video it.
      Thank you for following along, it's appreciated!

      @@ShakerHikes Thanks is there any particular brand you might recommend?

    • @ShakerHikes
      @ShakerHikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends on what type of snowshoeing you're doing (type of terrain), however for the last couple of years I've used the MSR lightning ascent... and really enjoy them. They work great for snowshoeing in mountainous Terrain... they're light and easy to secure to your backpack when not needed.
      Best of luck to you, I hope you have a great time this winter!

    Thanks Rob for this as well. I’m not familiar with Huel. The vegetable protein is not soy based which I was having trouble finding. It seems on label to be from peas and such. I don’t tolerate soy well. The Spam every day was a big surprise but makes sense, as does the olive oil. All the guys starving were skeptical when I’d suggest olive oil but they all figured out no one can carry enough calories of regular food and as you say need that plus town food.

    I really enjoyed watching your hike. You have shared a lot of great info. I have one question for you . SOBO?

    • @ShakerHikes

      I went NOBO and don't have any regrets....

      @@ShakerHikes Are you ready to go SOBO? It seemed like it was an adjustment not to hit the trail in the morning.

    It's interesting to see what your meals were. Resupply boxes almost seem like too much trouble unless you have to use them.

    Lighthouse, keep posting I like hearing from you. Question, when I hiked in 2005 most people used alcohol stoves and there was fuel by the ounce just about everywhere. Is that still a thing, or are canister stoves what most people use now?

    • @ShakerHikes
      @ShakerHikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The majority of people use canister stoves - or just cold soak or eat cold food... I can't recall ever seeing an alcohol stove being used on the trail. Thank you for following along, it's appreciated!

    I checked out the Huel website and they're products look really good nutrition wise. How many bags total did you use for your thru hike and did you try any of the bars?

  • @martharunstheworld

    Why did you decide not to cook on the trail? The AT makes it easier to not have to rely on shipping yourself resupplies. You have to do that on the PCT or the CDT.

    • @ShakerHikes
      @ShakerHikes  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The main reason for not cooking on trail was convenience... oftentimes I would either stop for a quick break and eat before getting to camp - or eat while walking down the trail. Thank you for the question and for following along, it's appreciated!
