Whew, first time talking on camera! I hope the voice recording wasn't to bad.
But I forgot to disable the auto-focus. I'm sorry...
I realized that hours after I recorded everything, and didn't have the time to remake everything.
Let me know if anything doesn't work,
be it about the links, the download or uploading the patches to the synth.

Have a nice day!
Lanthan
They sound so nice. Thanks alot. I’ll check them out.✊✊
You're bloefeld patches and wonderful songs are %70 of what inspired me to purchase and play one I've had it for six months and love it. You're my hero for releasing your marvelous patches that I've always admired. Thankyou.
Wow, that is incredibly nice to hear! A huge thank you for the kind words! I'm happy to hear you like your Blofeld, and I hope you'll have a lot of fun playing with these patches! :D
Wow, many thanks for making your patches available.
Well thank you very much!
Yes, you just found out my real name!
May I ask you to edit your comment a little? I'm not really comfortable with my name being that open on the internet, that's all.
(I get enough spam e-mails as it is XD)
Done. :-)
Thanks so much for these patches. They sound great! Watching you play these sounds on TH-cam is the primary reason I bought a Blofeld and the Tempus. Thanks again !
I'm very happy you like 'em! Thanks for the kind words, and I hope you'll have lots of fun with the patches! :)
Nice demo - very nice sounds from the Blofeld. It even does FM sounds well!
Thank you very much! Yeah, it gets really close to those FM sounds, doesn't it?
Very good standard sounds exactly what I was searching for. Thank you!
You're welcome, I'm happy to hear that! :D
Thanks a lot Lanthan. 🙏 They sound really good. 👍
Very good sounds man. The most useful I've ever heard on the Blofeld.
Thanks, glad you enjoy them! :D
Bigeest Thanks for Your great working! Thats, amazing! With Love, from Russia!
Thank You! This is Amazing, and i will be sure to purchase the extended Commercial License of the Sound set. Just to show support, and have the opportunity to use these sounds in commercial works.
That would be very kind, a big thank you in advance!
Let me know if I can help you with any trouble getting the patches on your Blofeld.
Great sounds. I have the full keyboard, but I wish I had one of these desktops. Thanks for sharing.
You're welcome, thanks a lot for the kind words!
You've made a really nice soundset man, thanks for sharing!
You're welcome, I'm happy to hear you like it! :D
Great sounds, just what I was looking for. Like some of the other viewers, I too will be getting the Blofeld partly based on your demos and songs Thanks for the help!
Happy to hear you like them! :D
Thank you for sharing these great sounds, very generous 👍🏽
You're welcome! :D Well, since I had made them anyways, I didn't see a reason why others shouldn't have fun with them, too. ;-)
Hi Lanthan, These are great patches that you have made available for the very capable Blofeld. The tune you referred to in the video is Soft Cell's "Entertain Me" ( I think ).
thanks again.
You're welcome, happy you enjoy them. :D
(Nah, sorry, I don't know that track, so I must have meant another one.)
Was it a Soft Cell track though ?
No, sorry! ...but it's possible that they've made one with a similar melody, it's just not the one I thought of. ;)
Thank You. I am yery grateful for this beutiful shared gift. Thank You again.
Thanks a lot for this soundset! Awesome sounds!
You're welcome! I'm happy you like them! :D
Hey dude, nice soundset :) I'm gonna buy this synth end of the month definitely gonna use these. Thanks for make it free. If I use them for my music I will pay for them 👌
Thanks, I'm happy you like them! :D
Wow top man and very generous, i will certainly download these! Cheers!!
Happy to hear that! Have fun!
Well done sir!
Thanks!
Can't wait to try load them on my Blofeld. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
When clicking the zip.dmg file I'm getting an Adobe Flash installer... Am I doing something wrong?
I think the .dmg means that the file is damaged. Simply retry downloading it.
On second thought, the dmg might also stand for "download manager", which ties together with that "installer" thing you mentioned... In any case, this is not the file you are looking for. The soundset is just a .syx inside a .zip. Let me know if re-downloading did the trick or if I can help you with something. ;)
Lanthan O'Ide OH, okay... Weird. On Mac dmg is disk image. Apps and some other stuff is distributed as dmg-files. I'll try downloading a fresh copy.
Love your work. Keep it up.
Thanks!
Awesome, great sounds!
Thank you very much, glad you like them!
Many thanks!
You're welcome! I hope you'll find something on there you like!
Can you please do a tutorial video on how to first Create your own sound in Blofeld and how to save it. Also add in the tutorial on how to create your own set of 128 would be awesome as well. I just got my Blofeld like 1 week ago and i'm totally New to Hardware synths, so a tutorial on how to get my first original sound made and saved would be awesome. Most of the videos i have seen on TH-cam are not as clear in the information as they need to be when it comes to this process.
Hm, I might do some tutorials in the future.
But with the little time I have available right now, that will not happen very soon. Sorry.
Instead I'll tell you where I learned everything I know about the Blofeld:
Call me old-fashioned, but I can highly recommend the user manual.
Not only does it tell you how to use the Blofeld,
there are also some great sound design tips in there and it's written with a lot of homour.
Oh, and when I say "user manual" I mean the actual user manual,
not that puny "quick start guide" that comes with the Blofeld.
You can get it here:
waldorfmusic.com/downloads/Blofeld%20Downloads/Documentation/Manual.pdf
The instructions on saving your own patches are on pages 22 and 23.
As to how to make a soundset of 128: Repeat that process 128 times. :D
Lanthan O'Ide ty sooooo much
Hi Lanthan. Many thanks for sharing your sound set. I downloaded it and sent the sysex to my Blofeld but the patches seem to be distributed all throughout my existing a
A to H banks. Should the patches overwrite an existing bank and be grouped together Anyway - thanks again for the great patches.
Apologies Lanthan - I found the answer in the comments below. All the best to you.
Perfect, happy to hear you got it to work. Have fun with the patches!
Hey. Very nice sounds. I will try them out later. Star Freighter sounds really nice. And Martial Arts sounds like Huelsbecks Turrican stuff.
Thanks for the compliments, that's very kind!
Hello, what program do you recommend to send the file to Blofeld, please? I realised the Walforf Spectre will not read this file... Thanks a lot! Beautiful sounds, commendable effort! :)
There's a tool called "Blofeld Sound Organizer" which you can find here:
lady.rdsor.ro/~kotro/index.php?m=soft#blofeld
But that's just the one I like to use, you can use any Blofeld sound manager you like.
Hi Lanthan, I have downloaded your syx file but i cannot get it to upload to the blofeld. The Sound Organizer just doesn't work. :( need help.
Hey! What kind of music is that at 3:15? Something very familiar, I've already heard somewhere, only in a different form.
thank you Lanthan, very kind of you to share this.
for me a learning experience, but i have a little bit of trouble loading the sysex file to the blofeld.
iam using midi-ox on a windows 10 computer.
settings midi-ox: - options.. both in and output selected
-sysex configure..lowlevel input/output buffersize 1024
settings blofeld: global.. ctrl sysex on ctrl receive on ..midi channel 1
I did a all data dump from the blofeld to save it on my computer and that worked....now the oder way around.
Did i miss something here?
thanks
Hm, I don't usually use midi-ox, sorry. I put a link to the sound organizer I use on my website. You could try it with that. Either it works or at least I'll be able to help you with the program.
yes great, if it works i'll be happy to use the sound organizer.
As I said, the link is also on my website, but in case you didn't find it:
lady.rdsor.ro/~kotro/index.php?m=soft#blofeld
There are many editors for download on that site, the one you're looking for is called "Waldorf Blofeld editor 1.16C". Let me know if that works or if I can help you somehow.
thanks for the link...this one is also free and good looking too! softknobs.com/docs/blofeld/
I found out that i had to change the ID settings in the global menu, supose to be 0....so now Iám able to send the file and the blofeld confirms that it is receiving.
Is there a easy way to find the patches?...or are they in every category?
greetings
Wow, fancy. Last time I looked at softknobs they didn't have the library feature. Might be worth looking into.
Now, I'm not shure what you mean by "find the patches". You can choose freely where you would like to store them on your Blofeld. Then you'd find them wherever you put them earlier. And of course you can use the category filter if you just want to browse through one type of sounds. ;)
Its a really good synth - especially in the ambient polyphonic expansive field ... Been using it for 5/6 years now.
Have you tried the visual controller (made by MaxMSP), which can send multiple - interesting CC to the device, radically changing the tone and sound -Instead of tweaking just two parameters at a time...
Yes, I agree, it's a pretty fine synth. As to the visual controller: I haven't yet, actually.
...so far I've simply used LFOs and EGs when I wanted multiple parameters to change over time. XD
@@LanthanOIde Yes - By putting LFOS and EGs in action one can get many interesting modulations going simultaneously - I can send you the Editor if you wish to try it out ...
Just purchased blofeld,
Cool, have fun with it! :D
can i ask how are you recording the audio thru your computer using the Blofeld for this video? I would like to do the same thing in my music production videos when i start them.
You might be interested in getting an audio interface, then.
Those basically add high-quality audio inputs and outputs to your computer.
Much better than the standard mic input computers have.
Does the soundset require Waldorf's License SL? That would explain why I failed to install the set on my Blofeld Desktop using SysEx Librarian for Mac.
No, the SL license is not needed. But SysEx librarian is not the right tool for the job, you'll need a patch manager instead.
This is one I like to use: bigglesworth.it/
@@LanthanOIde Thanks for the suggestion. Sadly that doesn't work on recent MacOS :-(
Hi.
Where can I find that link to download your patches? Greet
It should be in the descriction, if I'm not mistaken. Cheers!
a little late to the party, but that was from Scott Pilgrim @7:28 , right?
Yup! Nice to see someone recognizing it every now and then! :D
BIG THANK YOU! :)
You're welcome! That's very nice to hear!
Maybe you intrested in: users.atw.hu/lipi/blofelddownloads.html :)
That's awesome, thanks! Very cool, Jarre-esque sounds! I had way more fun than I should have with #09, VCS3. Pew pew... XD
@@LanthanOIde :-D your welcome! Have you tried the SLADGE bank too? There is some nice oldschool patches....
Whoops, I didn't. Just downloaded the SLEDGE bank and looked at it in the sound manager, and WOW! That's a lot of sounds! It may take me some time to try them all. By the way, did you have any trouble getting my soundset on your Blofeld? I got some complaints from people who had difficulties there, and so far no one wrote that he succesfully got the soundbank on his Blofeld. Makes me a bit nervous.
Thank you so much
I'm glad you enjoy it!
Many thanks Lanthan. These sounds are outstanding. Do you have a list of all their names? The sysex transfer worked well, but I'm scrolling through sounds in the machine and wondering if it's a factory setting or a Lanthan original.

@@LanthanOIde Brilliant!
Great patches as are your musical pieces. I am sorry I have no blofeld.
Thank you very much for the kind words! I hope you enjoyed the video nonetheless.
That's awesome!:)
Thanks! :D
Hi Lanthan, really appreciate that you make your sounds available, even for free, thanks a lot! I am still discovering my new Blofeld and so far I really like it a lot. I would like to use a little sequencer to play and try out soundscapes like you do. Is there a good device you would recommend? I already have a small midi keyboard. I wonder whether the Beastep Pro would be a good fit.
You're welcome, I'm happy to hear that!
Hm, depends on what exactly you'd like to sequence.
The BSP is good for bass-lines, arpeggios, berlin school sequences and drums.
But it's not really suited for sequencing pads and atmospheres and such.
(It sounds to me like that's what you'd like to do)
For those, you'll probably like to use a polyphonic sequencer, i.e. a sequencer that can play more than one note at a time.
(Think of chords, for which you'll need to play three or more notes at once)
Personally, I like the QY100 and QY70.
They are very powerfull sequencers, you can actually use them to sequence full songs with multiple tracks.
And you can get them relatively cheap on ebay. (Around the price of a volca, much cheaper than a BSP)
But... they can be tricky to program. With lots of features come lots of menus.
Lanthan O'Ide Wow, thanks a lot for your detailed response and advise! You’re absolutely right, my intend is to sequence polyphonic sounds. I saw some people use Ableton live but I would like to do it without a computer (I am a SW engineer, the last thing I need in my free time is a computer :-)). I will check out the Yamaha devices you recommended, thanks. Have a good time and be inspired (so I can go and check out your new videos ;-))
The sound librarian you refer to is for Windows, do you know of a reputable one for IOS? Thanks
Since I have no iOS devices I can't try it, but this one looks fine:
12decode.de/GOFTER/index.html
From what I can tell, it seems to be free and have similar features, but again... I can't promise anything. ;-)
@@LanthanOIde Thanks Lanthan, I'll certainly give a try.
Can you recommend another sound organizer to load the soundset file? The one at this site is no longer available: lady.rdsor.ro/~kotro/mopho/
Oh. Ooohhhh... That's bad! I really hope the site is just down for maintenance or something. I'm afraid I don't know of any good alternative, sorry! :(
However, I've just checked the license agreement and it says one may "copy and redistribute" the software. So I could send you the zip-archive via e-mail if you'd like.
Thanks, that would be great! My address is: monsieurlevisqueux@gmail.com
lady.rdsor.ro/~kotro/soft/WaldorfBlofeldEditor116C.zip is the right link ;) It's still available...
Omg thank you so much!!!!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
I tried to download it. It came with all sorts of unwanted files and spam. What gives? Nice sounds by the way!
No, that doesn't seem right. The zip file should contain only two files, the sounds and a readme file. Is it possible you clicked on some advertisement by mistake?
Thanks a lot for sharing !!!!
Big like #111
...and thanks a lot for commenting! I'm happy you like it!
Lanthan - Beautiful sounds! Subscribed! The Arturia KeyStep can drive the Blofeld via midi, right? But the KeyStep can also drive iPad apps making the KeyStep a dual purpose controller, right?
Hi Tom, thank you very much!
Yes, the Keystep can be connected to a lot of different things:
It has a midi port for hardware synths, a USB socket for computers / tablets / smartphones and even a CV out for modular systems.
So you might even call it a "triple purpose controller". And sequencer. ;-)
Beautiful patches, are these with external effects recorded or without ?
Thank you very much! I didn't use external effects: What you hear is what you get. ;)
What sound bank do these sounds over-write by default?
I'm guessing Bank A? I haven't tried, and wouldn't recommend it. I strongly encourage you to use a sound manager to upload the patches. That way you can choose which patches exactly you'd like to overwrite, and which you want to keep.
3'20 reminds me of bladerunner movie :)
Yeah, it has quite similar vibes, I think. :D
I would like to interview 6 people who disliked this, to understand WHY?
Well, on the other hand:
Some generous folks have actually paid me for the soundset, so all in all, I can't complain about how I'm treated. ;-)
But to satisfy your curiosity, from what I've heard, there are two things some people complain about:
The first is that some folks can't help but click on ads and blame me if they download crap.
The second is that not everyone knows how to upload a soundset, but some fail to search for tutorials / instructions and blame me once things go wrong.
@@LanthanOIde thats good to hear. means people really appreciate what your work.
After downloading you can not unpack .....
That's strange. I just tried downloading and extracting it, and everything worked fine. Did you get the file "LanthansSoundset.zip"? If so, what did the error message you saw when you tried unpacking it say?
YES, I have file "lanthanssoundsetzip". OK, I unpackig but why do you need to install it?
Install what? There is no installation required. Do not install anything you may have downloaded by mistake.
Inside the .zip you'll find a file called "LanthansSoundset.syx". That's the soundset. You can use whichever Blofeld sound manager you like to upload the soundset to your synth.
Of course, it should be syx file. Try to download the file - you can not ...
www.file-upload.net/en/download-13298464/LanthansSoundset.zip.html
Yes, worked again.
I uploaded the files to google drive now, maybe that will solve this.
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_KRdoleX4XN4QzoWkhRIxAUfm95rSmZo
Let me know if it works.
Wow! Amazing that you made these free for personal use, AND they don't require the license. (can't believe the company does that. Odd to pay to unlock something already in your home.)
Also, do they replace stock presets, or go at the end in addition to the stock presets.
Thank you for your service!
You're very welcome, thanks!
Unfortunately, the stock presets cover all the memory of the Blofeld, so you'll have to overwrite some.
I highly recommend the sound librarian I mentioned in the video description, because it lets you choose which specific patches you'd like to replace, and which you'd like to keep.
And you can pick individual patches from my soundset, so you don't have to waste memory on patches you don't like. ;-)
That's really nice.
But I have a question. Did I need an SL license for that patches? Maybe I missed when you talked about it.
Thanks! No, you won't need the SL license, and while we're at it, you don't need any custom wavetables either.
Everything should work on any Blofeld.
That's very good, thanks.
