What a version of Joni Mitchell's classic song, i have watched it so many times and it just keeps getting better and better, the singing is outstanding as well as the guitar but my hair stands up at the violin solo,
What a gorgeous cover of this lovely Joni Mitchell song! I love the harmonies and instrumentation. I also found that the clarity of Miss. Smith's voice enhanced my understanding of the lyrics. Thank you, thank you!
WoW so beautifully done!!!!!! The singer captured the soul of winter and the spirit of winter with her soaring beautiful voice!!!!!!!!!! She brings us right into winter through out the whole song!!!!!!!!!She has BIG TALENT!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONNA!!!!!!!!
fantastic cover of a beautiful song, Joni Mitchell covers are often problematic due to the brilliance of her originals, but this works.fantastic clear vocals, great harmonies and subtle playing .congratulations!
Wow... what a phenomenal elaboration... exquisite voice, phrasing, composition... thought provoking, evocative... this is beautiful "what if" pondering music.💯👌
You never hear anyone do a Joni song better than she did. The only other such instance was when Emmy Lou Harris sang Magdelene Laundries.. Congratulations folks. This is really beautifully done. Gorgeous harmonies.
Beautiful and haunting version, well done! (Also, let's not forget perhaps the most popular version of the song, done by Tom rush--my personal favorite since I was a young teen.)
Since my midteens for the Tom Rush version, and it's haunted me ever since. He's still performing regularly, especially here in the Essex County area of Massachusetts, but I'm not sure I could deal with the emotions hearing it in person would evoke.
The video of Joni playing it in 1966, probably for the first time live, on the Canadian folk show "Lets Sing Out" is a mesmerizing performance. You can see in the faces of the hootenanny musicians on stage with her that they were witnessing a new era. Video = "Joni Mitchell - Urge For Going (Live In-Studio 1966)".
Coming of age in the late sixties and hearing all these songs for the first time , it was a time of awakening.
how pure and amazing,
There are many not-so-great covers of Joni Mitchell songs. This is absolutely one of the greats. I’d expect nothing less from Emily.
I love the spareness of this instrumentally against the strength of the lead vocals and harmonies. Well done. This is a tough song to get right.

Lead singer has the clearest, purest voice. Lovely!
Simply beautiful cover of Joni Mitchell.

Emily's vocal interpretation is lovely
Really, REALLY nice.
I return to this every few months, this is really a stunning performance.
Cheers Timothy!
It would be hard to beat this.

Absolutely beautiful job on on this song. What a gorgeous warm voice you have Emily. (-:
Lovely fiddle solo, taps the spirit of this song.
Such a lovely version. Wonderful interpretation.
Beautiful version of a lovely Joni fall song! Thanks for posting!
I used to think this was just a fall song. Then, half a century I first heard Tom Rush perform it, it has taken on additional meaning.
I saw her live.🙏
Got to meet her, too.🤭😁
PURE MAGIC!!🥰
YES.❤❤
Beautiful!
Beautiful, tears to my eyes. Thank you for posting!
Awesome!
What an amazing performance. Beautiful singing and playing!

Just exquisite! Pure poetry set to music.
Magnificent ❤
...and then the fiddle happened! LOVE the style of this rendering - an Irish/Scottish ballad...
Is there more material from this concert ? This is incredible.
Perfection!
Top top drawer.......
Who's the guitarist ? She's fantastic !
Fan bloomin tastic
Hersham boys
Gordon Lightfoot urge for going
The voices are great, but the guitar players just couldn't seem to handle Joni's guitar lines.
I’m not sure the guitar player was trying to: it’s a cover, after all, not a straight copy, and that’s part of what makes this so good IMHO.
The best guitar arrangement is on the Tom Rush cover from 1968.
@@untruenorth The best covers cover the best
Absolute class……..thanks
