    Where are you in the USA? Is the HOT hive a hybridized colony? If so, you may want to replace that queen with a known European queen.

      Hey Jocephus, we're in north Georgia. All the hives are Russian bees this year. This is our third year and the past two years weren't very fruitful. The first and second winter all the hives died out. So this year, we were looking for more active and robust bees. That comes at a price with the bees also being more aggressive. We did Italians and also Carniolan bees in that order. The Carniolans did a bit better than the Italians. In comparison, as a guess the Russian bees did about 3x more productivity. Hopefully they'll make it through the winter with these super strong hives. Thanks so much for the view and the comments!
