- Dean Z looks through 4 (!) applications in this episode, each an applicant with a strong LSAT but a low GPA. What about them stood out and why did Dean Z admit them to Michigan Law?

This is by far the most insightful nugget of admissions gold floating around the internet.
You may just see my application in the next 2-3 years.
Same :) see you there !
“Hostage video vibes”😂 love this lady! Tell her Tennessee would love to have her stop by 👀💪🏾
💙💛
It would be really cool to see an in depth tour of the law school uploaded to this channel, from the law library to the dining hall to a classroom. That'd be a great addition to the channel! Thanks for the video!
Agreed! It's on the list
Some folks might not have the opportunity to visit Michigan before applying so itd be awesome for there to be a law school tour!
I'm applying as a splitter to Michigan this year. I cannot express how helpful all of these videos are, but this one in particular was great. Thank you!
We love to hear it! Thanks for watching
Dean Z, I really really appreciate all your videos. Most insightful videos I've found on TH-cam for my applications. I hope you're the one who ends up reading my application to UM Law for 2024!
So glad to hear that you find them helpful!
As a super splitter applying to Michigan this cycle, this couldn’t have come at a better time.
Love to hear that this video was both helpful and timely
Hey I'm a super splitter too! How did you app go?
Four readings in a single episode! An early Halloween treat.
👻
Dean Z I love your videos and always get excited when I see a new one come out! You make the application process feel less stressful, thank you!!
You are most welcome! So glad you find these videos useful! Thank you for watching
This is so helpful!! Would you be able to do a video on the opposite type of splitter (high GPA, low LSAT)? Thank you Dean Z!
Sheesh 175 and 3.4. I would dream of those grades.
Me too. -Dustin
Is the first candidates GPA a 3.45/4.0 or a 3.45/4.33?
Hey Dean Z, this video is really helpful and I really appreciate you taking out time to share this with us!
I'm curious if there have been people with 1-2 years of work experience in the splitter category (especially as an international student with no reportable GPA and a solid context) that have gotten in?
As a future applicant, this is such a helpful video as a splitter myself. There were many helpful insights throughout the video, thanks Dean Z!
What about the low lsat, average gpa applicants?
I reapplied ED this year and a splitter myself! Hoping to get in this time around! Thank you for encouraging vids Dean Z :)
You are welcome! And good luck!
Hope Dean Z is at NYC Forum !!!
Hi Dean Z thanks for another helpful video. I noticed you were averaging the LSAT scores. Do you consider the average or only the highest when determining acceptance? Thanks!
This question will be addressed in an upcoming episode but in short, the high score carries the most weight. If you took the test 10 times, that might diminish one really high score but if you've only taken the LSAT a handful of times, the most important number is the top score. Apologies if this video created any confusion!
Great thanks for clarifying!
THANK YOU, DEAN Z!
💙💛
Are you coming with Michigan to the CU Boulder Law School Fair?? That would be so awesome
I'll ask Dean Z :)
These videos always help me ground myself as I anxiously wait for admission response! Thank you Dean Z!!❤
So happy to hear! Thanks for watching
I thought that universitties don't take the avereages of the LSAT scores but the highest?
Surprised that the MEDIAN LSAT score is so high, 175 of 180. Wondered if there are any hot takes on changing the scale, since it has been over 30 years AND it doesn't really doesn't separate applicants as much as it used to (pre-1991)? Thoughts?
Thank you so much, you’ve given me hope. I am a lot like the third person, I will be applying to the University of Michigan’s Law School 🎉
I would love to know the better GPA of the person who initially had the 1.8, if possible
I'm planning on applying for law school around 2025 or 2026! I am graduating a semester late due to an academic suspension but I am managing to get my grades up again. Do you look closely at suspensions and probations?
Schools-not just Michigan, all law schools!-will definitely have questions about any suspension. The good news, however, is that you only need to include a very brief addendum to make sure that it is clear that the suspension was due solely to low grades, not for any kind of disciplinary infraction. Four sentences, at most, should cover it! Good luck-you got this!
Thank you for your advice Dean Z! Hope to hear from your office soon!
Informative video! Is there a similar video for splitters with a high GPA and a below median LSAT?
Not yet...
would it be a possibility to do another video of the opposite type of splitte? Those with a high GPA and a low LSAT?
Yes! Stay tuned...
Would y'all be able to make a similar episode on reverse-splitters?
That's a great idea! I'll pass the request on to Dean Z :)
I’d be really interested to hear your take on the JD Next program some schools are starting
To accept.
Dean Z just recorded an episode answering this question in detail but in short, she's skeptical of JD Next and the LSAT is still the best test for applicants to take.
@@umichlaw Awesome, thanks for the info.
How does Michigan feel about a score cancellation on the last test?
Dean Z is going to give a more thorough answer about this in an upcoming episode but in short, we don't care! Totally fine to cancel your last LSAT score.
@@umichlaw thank you so much for the reply! It really made my day
Hey Dean Z Is the LSAT a frivolous test?
What’s your LSAT Dean Z????
We just recorded an episode in which Dean Z answers this question :)
Hii !! Please travel to SUNY Canton if you’re able to🥹 I’m considering your school and would love to meet you ! We don’t have law school recruiting at my school and this would be a great opportunity!!
